Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a sealed metal case that can be remotely opened at Research Site 238. The case should require level 3/XXXX clearance as a safety measure and should only be handled by D-Class personnel. If any foundation personnel assume contact with the object, they should be terminated immediately.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a seemingly unanomalous M1911A1 pistol that shows signs of heavy use. When viewed, the viewer will experience a strong desire to hold the item. Upon assuming contact, users will enter a “flashback” state in which they will stare into nothingness and mutter gibberish in a panicked, fearful, or pained tone. It is theorized that they are trying to express what they are seeing, but SCP-XXXX does not allow them to. Upon doing this for approximately one hour, the user will start to cry, and eventually end their life with a single shot to the head using the item. The subject will be instantly killed, and the gun will enter an “inactive” state where the weapon will function normally, apart from having unlimited ammo. This state will end at exactly 124 hours. Once the inactive phase is done it will return to its regular state.

Discovery: SCP-XXXX was discovered at a gun shop in [REDACTED], Nevada. The owner of the gun shop, ███ ███, who had been subjected to the effects of SCP-XXXX. The only witness was Mr. ██████. Shortly after this incident, the foundation caught wind of this and secured the weapon. An interview log with Mr. ██████ is shown below.

Foreword: Mr. ██████ was a customer at the gun dealers shop, the previous owner of SCP-XXXX.

Begin Log,

Dr. Morris: Hello Mr. ██████, How are you today?

Mr. ██████: I'm just fine, doc.
Dr. Morris: Alright. Can you describe what you saw SCP-XXXX do?

Mr. ██████: The what now?
Dr. Morris: The gun.

Mr. ██████: Oh, that. Well, I went to the shop to buy a gun. I go through the door, and my dealer ain't there. I hear some muttering through the door, and it sounded like my dealer. I call out for him but he don't say nothin' back. I go through the door, and he's mutterin' nonsense. I ask him what's wrong, but he doesn't respond at all. I try to talk to him, but it looked like he was asleep and I couldn't wake 'im up. About five, maybe six minutes later, he starts to cry. He points the gun to his head, and then…
Dr. Morris: And then?

Mr. ██████ He blows his fuckin' brains out… it was a mess, I don't know why he would ever do this.
Dr. Morris: Oh. Alright, thank you for your time.

Closing Statement: Mr. ██████ was returned to his town shortly after, and given class D amnestics.

Experiment Log XXXX-001

Subject: D-2066

Researcher: Researcher Cross
Procedure: D-2066 was escorted to the testing chamber without issues and was instructed to look at the object. He did so and described it as "beautiful" and "gorgeous." He then reached out to grab it but was told not to and the case was closed. The subject started to cry, and say "he just wanted to hold it." The subject was escorted away, but became violent and was terminated.
Conclusion: Viewing SCP-XXXX will not cause the onset of symptoms, but viewers will enter a furious state, deeming them unsafe, and should be terminated.

Experiment Log XXXX-002

Subject: D-6602
Researcher: Researcher Cross
Procedure: The subject was escorted to the testing chamber with no difficulties. The case was opened, and the subject was instructed to hold the weapon. The subject immediately began to experience symptoms of SCP-XXXX. At 55 minutes, the subject started to scream, cry, and bang on the walls. The subject shot himself shortly afterward.
Conclusion: Contact with the object will result in death within around one hour.

Experiment Log XXXX-003

Subject: D-5584
Researcher: Researcher Cross
Procedure: The subject was escorted to the chamber. Before entering, the subject put on a pair of surgical gloves. The subject was then instructed to touch SCP-XXXX, and no effects took place. The subject was then instructed to fire SCP-XXXX, but did not cooperate and stated: "I just want to handle this beauty." The subject then took off the gloves and held the gun, and began to experience symptoms. At 61 minutes, the subject began to cry and was forcefully removed from the room. The subject because violent and had heightened strength, but was liberated and taken to psychological evaluation. The subject became calmer after 4 days of rest. The subject believed he was Staff Sergeant Paul Bryce, an American soldier in World War One who had taken his own life in ████. He told the doctors how he had been in the trenches, and thought that he was in a field hospital, and said he could hear gunshots and artillery. After 2 days, the subject became enraged, and lunged at the doctors, and was immediately terminated by an agent.
Conclusion: Subjects can be taken out of the flashback state for a short period of time, in which they will be lucid. After that period of time, the subject will become enraged and should be terminated.

Incident XXXX

Description
At noon of June 6th, 2007, D-2288 was being escorted to SCP-XXXX's chamber when SCP-████. breached and the power went out. D-2288 managed to escape the escorts. After a while, D-2288 came across D-4598. Together they went to SCP-XXXX's testing chamber, stole the weapon from Agent ████████ who had been killed by SCP-████ and went into SCP-XXXX where the power malfunction caused the doors and case to open. D-2288 picked up SCP-XXXX, thinking it was a weapon and began exhibiting symptoms of SCP-XXXX. D-4598 removed D-2288 from SCP-XXXX's presence, and away from the containment cell. From there D-2288 entered an enraged state and killed D-4598. When D-2288 went back to SCP-XXXX's cell, the door had closed and he could not open it. Furious, D-2288 rampaged the site with extremely heightened strength and speed, when he came across Agent ████. The agent was attacked by D-2288 and was heavily injured, but killed D-2288 before dying himself. After the breach, both SCPs were contained and the bodies of both D-2288 and Agent ████ were found in Access Hall 1-F.

SCP-XXXX has since been relocated to Temporary Containment Site ███.
