ITEM #: SCP-5127-A/B
OBJECT CLASS: EUCLID
Special Containment Procedures: SCP 5127-A is currently contained at site: [REDACTED]. The SCP is to be monitored at all times and access is only allowed upon written authorization from site supervisor. A minimum distance of 100 yards has been found necessary to prevent SCP 5127-A from going hostile. Additionally, SCP 5127-A needs to be placed inside a Faraday cage to prevent its finding of targets (SCP 5127-B) via what is believed to be its ability to trace phone calls, text messages, and emails or other forms of long distance communication. The Faraday cage will not prevent 5127-A from finding a target who wanders too close.
If SCP 5127-A finds SCP 5127-B there is no way of preventing it from initiating combat.
Description: SCP 5127-A is a humanoid taking the appearance of its last “victim”. The weapons SCP 5127-A uses are a pair of knives that have been found to change in appearance. The appearance when discovered was of a steak knife from a 1979 Sears catalog and as of 5-25-2020 they are the shape of Schmidt Brothers steak knife.
SCP 5127-A is classified dangerous to those it targets. The manner by which it choices its targets is simple. It picks a name and if a target has that name it initiates combat. Doing so turns its target into SCP 5127-B. SCP 5127-A tosses one of its knives to the ground and SCP 5127-B is expected to pick up the knife and combat SCP 5127-A. If 5127-B is unwilling to pick up the knife 5127-A kills 5127-B.
If 5127-B picks up the knife they will fight 5127-A until 1 emerges the victor. If 5127-B is the victor they then become 5127-A. This involves no physical change and appears to manifest itself into their body. The person they had been is no more and they will wander an area until they find another target with the chosen name and combat once again happens. The SCP can somehow sense the name of those around it, including through its Faraday cage. If it finds a target of the chosen name nothing can prevent it from reaching that target. It will manifest through walls and no weapons other than the knife it gives its target cause any damage. It will ignore all others around it.
If a chosen target attempts to use another weapon on 5127-A, they will find that weapon to have no effect and the SCP will immediately attack. This was discovered in Incident 15/C when a site security guard approached within 90 yards of its containment vessel and shared the appropriate name. The incident was recorded fully on-site cameras and shows 5127-A looking through the walls at its target and disappearing from its containment vessel, appearing in front of the security guard [REDACTED]. [REDACTED] drew his firearm and shot at 5127-A having no effect. 5127-A then stabbed [REDACTED] and killed him.
The chosen name appears to change at random and since the discovery in 1979 it has changed 16 times. The shortest observed name length was 6 months and the has been 7 years.
Name changes occur at random times and when they do occur the SCP will softly utter the name. This has necessitated sensitive microphones be recording its room at all times and no personnel are allowed within 100 yards of it at any point after the 6 month mark.
If someone that does not share the name of the target is in its presence it will wander aimlessly and will not react and can be moved and handled safely. However if anything occurs that SCP 5127-A perceives as a threat it will engage. No weapons have been found that can damage 5127-A when it is in this state. Actions that will cause it to become hostile are those in which a normal human would be damaged and feel pain. Handling the SCP will not cause it to turn hostile, while any blow to the SCP will turn it hostile.
Discovery: The discovery of 5127-A was made in 1979 at an institute for the criminally insane in Kansas City. SCP 5127-A was known at that facility as “John Doe” and had been arrested for the murder of “Steven Mecklen” 8 months prior. It was determined that 5127-A needed to be contained by the foundation by Dr. Frank Giovinitti when the SCP was observed by several witnesses at the institute as sudden disappearing from the rec room. It was found a short distance away standing over the body of “Steve Clamor”.
Addendum 5127:1 Known names 5127 has had.
Starting from 1979 the names which 5127 has taken are:
Steven
An Na
Valentino
Ben
Aldolfo
Phillip
Chung-Hee
Marcellus
Winston
Tatusya
Rose
Marcus
Sydney
Trong
Gufashaw***
Ahmed
Due to the vigilant work of the team assigned to site [REDACTED] a list of names dating from before 1979 have been compiled along with the believed year it was tracked. Please note that while the believed accuracy of the names is high, there is a probability that these names are wrong.
Prior to 1979:
Trent (1966)
Victoria (1964)
Tai (1950)
Sadanori (1948)
Shedrick (1939)
Laurens (1851)
*** no person by the name Gufashaw has ever been found, Dr. Ryan [REDACTED] put forth the theory that this name is from sometime in the future.
Addendum 5127:2 Naming Convention
It is not known how SCP 5127-A selects its targets or how it knows what the target's name is. A test in [REDACTED] by the science team [REDACTED] found that 5127-A will still attack a target of its chosen name even if that name has been legally changed. They also found that 5127-A will not attack animals with given names. It will not attack inanimate objects that have been given names.
