Item #: SCP-4982
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4982 is to be kept in a nonventilated room at site ██. SCP-4982 is placed on a slab made out of polystyrene foam and covered by a box made out of polystyrene foam. The slab and the box are to be replaced daily by D class personnel under the supervision of guards. Any D class personnel affected by SCP-4982 are to be terminated. Any instances of SCP-4982-2 are to be terminated or kept for research.
Description: SCP-4982 resembles a rose with colourless petals. SCP-4982 is planted in a clay pot which cannot be separated from the SCP. SCP-4982 possesses no thorns on its stem and doesn’t need water, light nor air to survive.
SCP-4982 releases a gray gas with seeds into the air every 142 minutes. This gas floats in the air until it touches a solid surface. It then proceeds to decompose the object no matter the material. After a few second the decomposed material resembles dirt in which the seeds imbed themselves and start to grow rapidly. After a few minutes these seeds grow into SCP-4982-2.
SCP-4982-2 is a copy of SCP-4982 that possesses the texture and properties of the material, it grew in. Same as SCP-4982, SCP-4982-2 doesn’t possess any thorns and doesn’t need water, light nor air to survive. After growing SCP-4982-2 is idle for next 24 hours, it then starts releasing the same gas with seeds as SCP-4982 does every 142 minutes. SCP-4982-2 can be terminated by cutting its stem.
Recovery: SCP-4982 was recovered in September of 2011, after being found by a hiking civilian in the ████ forest near ██████ in Central Slovakia. After being reported to the foundation a mobile task force was deployed to recover the SCP. It was located in a cabin, which’s interior was covered by hundreds of SCP-4982-2s. After terminating all instances of SCP-4982-2, SCP-4982 was immediately transported to site ██.
Experiment Log #4982-1: Tests conducted by Dr. ████, dated ██/██/201█.
Item: Regular dry dirt
Result: SCP-4982-2 grew to a full size in 5 minutes. SCP-4982-2 was completely brown and had the same texture as the item.
Termination: SCP-4982-2 crumbled into a pile of dirt after contact with Dr. ████’s hand.
Item: Wooden log
Result: SCP-4982-2 grew to a full size in 2 minutes. SCP-4982-2 had a light brown colour and had a pattern similar to cut wood. SCP-4982-2’s stem, leaves and petals could not be bent. SCP-4982-2 was harder than the item.
Termination: SCP-4982-2’s stem was cut with a handsaw.
Item: Glass pane
Result: SCP-4982-2 grew to a full size in 9 minutes. During growth, inside of SCP-4982-2 was glowing hot and cooled down afterwards. SCP-4982 was completely made out of see-through, colourless glass. SCP-4982-2’s stem, leaves and petals could not be bent. SCP-4982-2 was harder than the item.
Termination: SCP-4982-2’s stem was shattered with a hammer.
Note: The shape of the item doesn’t seem to affect SCP-4982-2 in any way.
Item: D-2805
Result: SCP-4982-2 grew to a full size in 3 minutes. During growth, SCP-4982-2 produced a lot of steam and a dense liquid similar to human blood. The production of the liquid and steam stopped immediately after growth. SCP-4982-2 was made out of parts of the human body. Its leaves were ears and petals were replaced with a large eye that was able to move. SCP-4982-2 constantly produced faint low-pitched sounds that made personnel in the room feel uneasy.
Termination: SCP-4982-2 was burnt to ash.
Note: D-2805 reported itching immediately after SCP-4982’s gas touched his arm. After separation of SCP-4982-2 from D-2805’s arm, D-2805 fell on the ground and started screaming in pain. D-2805 was terminated immediately after.
