Item #:
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: The front entrance to SCP- is to be manned by 2 guards, any back exits or receiving areas are to be permanently sealed. Any research staff entering SCP-_ must be accompanied by 1 guard during experiments. Any personal items aside from those necessary to the experiments are to be held by the guards until the experiment is complete and all staff involved have left the building.
Description: SCP- is an Albertsons grocery store located in [REDACTED], California. Upon entering SCP- staff will notice that there is only one checkout lane, this lane appears to be the center of the anomalous properties of SCP-. When an item with any barcode is scanned an exact replica appears on an empty shelf within SCP-, and is given a price. This price appears to have no relationship to how much humans determine the item to be worth. Items on the shelves of SCP-_ have no molecular differences between themselves and their original forms. However if an item is removed from SCP-_ without payment it will begin to rapidly deteriorate until it is a fine powder.
When the shelves in SCP-_ are fully stocked and a new item is scanned a new shelf will appear on the north end of the store, however this does not influence the dimensions of SCP-_ on the exterior. It is highly discouraged to scan items that are not a part of foundation research.
SCP-___ was discovered when employees transferred to this location posted on social media that when a new item was delivered to them and scanned, the item would appear on nearby shelves. The Foundation then acquired the building and others in the same parking lot.
Addendum 1:
Experiment Subject: 1 solid brick of gold with a barcode stamped on the top of it.
Experiment: Staff were instructed to scan 1 brick of solid gold. After 10 bricks appeared in aisle 7 staff were instructed to pay for one brick, and not pay for the other, and then proceed to exit SCP-_.
Results: After leaving SCP-_ the brick of gold that was not paid for began to deteriorate for approximately 40 seconds before being reduced to a fine powder, further testing of the powder shows that the powder is dirt. The other brick was unaffected.
Addendum 2:
Subject: One healthy D-class personnel
Experiment: The D-Class was given a tattoo of the same barcode used on the solid brick of gold on their forearm. They were instructed to scan the barcode and await further instruction.
Results: After approximately 15 minutes screaming could be heard from aisle 10, the D Class ran to the aisle to find 10 replicas of themselves morphed into a single organism which became hostile towards the D class. The organism escaped capture and will now be referred to as SCP-_-1. Testing has been stopped to ensure the safety of foundation personnel, it is believed that SCP-_-1 cannot exit the building without payment.
Incident Report 1: On 1/[REDACTED]/20 a staff member entered SCP-___ with what is now believed to be the corpse of his deceased son. It is unclear what happened to the staff member or the corpse he had with him.
