Containment Procedure: Watch SCP-4864 using the provided cameras. D-Class Personnel are to be blindfolded upon entry, and instructed to remove it during any test.

Description: SCP-4864 is a stone tablet similar to the Rosetta Stone, discovered in 19xx by Lieutenant {[DATA EXPUNGED]} in the country of {[DATA EXPUNGED]}. If seen, SCP-4864 causes immediate blindness and insanity, making whatever saw it aggressive towards all living things, human or otherwise.

This effect persists through glass, tinted or not, and any material that is transparent enough to view the symbols, however, this effect appears to be inactive through camera footage.

In the case of Containment Breach of SCP-173, keep away from SCP-173 AT ALL COSTS. All tests are to be supervised by Dr. xxxxx and conducted by any authorized personnel.

Tests involving materials have concluded, though we have lost several D-Class Personnel. D-116383C, however, survived, informing us that it is the symbols that cause insanity, not a field or ray.

Subject: D-475296A

Thanks to D-475296A we have discovered that distance from the stone does not affect whether it causes insanity or not.
