XXXX

SCP-XXXX as it was originally found.

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe / Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: Containment procedures have been revised following Incident XXXX-02.

SCP-XXXX is to be wall-mounted in a room lined with light panels of at least 5000 lm. Their power supply must be separated from the main grid. There must not be any shadows within the range of SCP-XXXX's light when not testing.

Any subjects and personnel exposed to SCP-XXXX must remain inside the containment chamber until the time from last exposure has passed 24 hours.

Description:
SCP-XXXX is a wall-mounted lamp of unknown make, approximately 35 cm tall, and 24 cm wide, presumed to be constructed in the 1930s. The object turns on and off at precisely 07:00 and 21:00, respectively, dependent on the current time zone it is in, without need for a supply of electricity. The Objects main anomalous effect, apart from its uncontrollable, though predictable, on and off states, is the light emitted. The light is currently understood as the predicate for SCP-XXXX-B instance events.

SCP-XXXX-B instance events are defined as the sudden apparition of any creature imagined to be on a surface previously illuminated by SCP-XXXX. This property of affected surfaces is only active for approximately 24 hours. The light does not need to be direct, however the inverse square law seems to render the anomalous effect inert after an undetermined distance. Further testing is needed.

SCP-XXXX-B instances vary greatly in form and ability, dictated by what the original observer perceived, but are consistently hostile. Currently, the only effective method to terminate SCP-XXXX-B instances is to envelop the entity in strong light, of at least 4000 lm. Light must be maintained for an undetermined amount of time (usually minutes) for complete termination, confirmed by a distinct disappearance of the entity. What happens to the SCP-XXXX-B instances is currently unknown. Shorter exposure, or lower Lumens level is not sufficiently effective for termination, however, it can damage the entity and significantly inhibit its functions. Lasers of equivalent power exhibit the same results, and are able to dismember SCP-XXXX-B instances if sufficiently powerful.
