Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4188-1 and SCP-4188-4 are to be contained in separate 20 meter by 20 meter concrete, rebar reinforced cell located at Site-19. Due to the intelligence level of both SCP it is recommended to sedate any SCP-4188 with medium range sedatives before entering to study or clean the cell along with at minimum 4 guards. Any questioning must be done through speakers contained within the cells or by D-Class personnel. Once weekly, SCP-4188-1 and SCP-4188-4 are to be feed a medium sized live animal ranging in size from a medium sized dog to a small goat. No two SCP-4188 should come in contact with the other in fear of mating or territorial fighting behaviors that could end in one of the specimens being injured or dying.

Description: SCP-4188 appear to be large serpentine like creature with tails that measure upwards of 2.75 Meters (9 feet) and resemble that of the Crotalus atrox, or Western Diamondback Rattlesnake. The discernable features from SCP-4188 to normal Cortalus atrox specimen, apart from the massive size, is the fact all specimen of SCP-4188 appear to have a humanoid torso replacing the head region of the snake. The torso of SCP-4188 contains all the same organs of humans, except that of the entire digestive tract. The location that would house the digestive tract is smaller, making room for larger lungs and a sack about the size of a human stomach that keeps a venom containing proteolytic enzymes. This venom is pumped through two fangs which are approximately 10-12 centimeters (4-5 inches) in length. The venom if not treated will kill, even treated victims have extensive scar tissue. The digestive tract of SCP-4188 is located within the tail section, it ingests prey after biting it through a hidden opening/mouth below the torso which is large enough to easily swallow a human whole. SCP-4188 specimens are extremely intelligent, able to pick up the language spoke around it within a two-week period of exposure to them. Currently both specimen of SCP-4188 speak English, Spanish, and Diné the Navajo Indian Language, which was there original spoken language.

SCP-4188-1 through SCP-4188-10 all where found after a hiker named █████ ███████ stumbled across what appeared to be a large cave while walking in ████████ █████ National Park in the year 20██. The cave was approximately 1.6 Kilometer in length which was illuminated with some unknown species of bio-luminescent microorganisms and ended in a perfectly circular room with a diameter of 60 meters across. In the center of the circle was five nests containing on average 4 eggs that where 13 centimeters in length. The walls of the room had what appeared to be doorways which had been carved into the wall by something. The Hiker escaped and contacted local authorities which alerted the SCP Foundation. Further exploration revealed multiple SCP-4188 which retaliated with extreme violence leading to termination of all but three SCP-4188 specimens and a final one succumbed to its injuries. The surviving two where sedated and treated for light wounds sustained while detaining said creatures. The eggs where incubated at Site-19 in replicated environments, but all attempts to hatch said eggs failed and they where disposed of.¹

Dr. ███████ : Very well, can you tell me a little bit about how your community worked in [REDACTED]?
SCP-4188-1: You see, our home was named [Redacted] I was one of the mothers there. My job was simple, lay eggs, care for young, protect them.
Dr. ███████ : Did you have a mate that also helped with this?
SCP-4188-1: We have no need for mates, we have both male and female parts.
Dr. ███████ : So why where there only ten of you at this location? I am sure that there had to be more than just 10 to start with.
SCP-4188-1: We once had many, but Native Americans feared us and viewed us as monsters so we hid underground. A couple of moons ago a large thundering beast tore the ground up looking for the black liquid you call oil. The beast of metal caused our city to collapse and… *subject starts to cry profusely*
