Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: Due to their highly territorial behavior, instances of SCP-XXXX are to be held individually in their own artificial habitat measuring 15 square meters. The habitats must mimic their native environment, namely, the Mojave Desert. Artificial sunlight is to be shone upon them 24/7, being turned off only for experimental purposes. Instances of SCP-XXXX located and confirmed by foundation personnel are to be uprooted during daylight hours and taken to Foundation Site 29 Alpha, located directly below the U.S. military installation [REDACTED.]
Description: Instances of SCP-XXXX appear at first glance to be monocotyledonous tree's belonging to the genus yucca with notable anomalies setting them apart from the rest of the flora in this order. SCP-XXXX's have red keratinous chelae growing on the ends of each branch, and an orifice at the junction of their trunk and branches. where a tree typically found in the order yucca would have fibrous wood lacking growth rings, SCP-XXXX's have a fully functional endothermic muscular and digestive system beneath their bark. As long as SCP-XXXX is exposed to sunlight, it will sun itself, remaining motionless, and nonreactive to any stimuli of any kind, up to and including sawing through its trunk and branches. once SCP-XXXX is no longer exposed to sunlight, it will awaken from its comatose state, place its branches on the ground, and walk in an arachnid like fashion. SCP- XXXX has carnivorous diet and will use its waking hours to hunt, chasing down it's prey and impale it on it branches, at which point it will sink its trunk into the ground, raise its prey into the air and begin to feed using the chelae on its branches to tear flesh away and place it into its mouth. SCP-XXXX appears to prefer keeping its victims alive for as long as possible during feeding, having been observed avoiding severing the spine and major blood vessels. SCP-XXXX's often do not consume all of its prey before day break, leaving pieces of the carcass still impaled on its branches after it re-enters it's comatose state
