Special Containment Procedures: All known instances of SCP-XXXX are each to be kept within a 2x2x2 meter glass terrarium featuring lamps, heating and decor to mimic arid desert conditions. Each instance is to be fed a spider of the family theraphosidae every 14 days. Under no circumstance are personell allowed to open a containment unit without proper protection, in the form of reinforced bee-suits, and allowance from lead researcher Dr. XXXX. The food is to be distributed in live condition and automated to prevent stings.
In case of foundation personell being stung, procedure SCP-XXXX-Mindrecovery is to be activated, see addendum below.
Undercover agents are to be placed in clinics as well as mental hospitals posing as doctors and psychiatrist in the southern Arizona area to identify victims of SCP-XXXX's stings. Confirmed cases are to brought in to foundation custody for interview, see interview logs below.
Captured instances are brought into site-XX into one of the designated containment cells.
Site-XX currently contains 3 instances of SCP-XXXX.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an anomalous subspecies of pepsis grossa, more commonly referred to as tarantula hawk, native to the southern Arizona desert. SCP-XXXX instances are distinguishable from non-anomalous wasps by the pulsing color shift of their abdomen which fluctuates between a green to an dark orange hue every 32 seconds. Internally SCP-XXXX posesses a secondary stinger located directly next to the primary stinger which leads to an anomalous organ that functions as a storage for fluids.
SCP-XXXX will sting prey intended for feeding with their primary stinger while they will always sting humans with their secondary stinger which injects a strong paralytic into the victims body rendering it unconscious within seconds. Afterwards SCP-XXXX will sting the victim again, targeting the truncus cerebri and injecting a viscous liquid. After approximately 15 seconds SCP-XXXX will then suck said liquid out of the body and fly away. Victims will awake after 30 minutes with no memories of their life with a completely different personality, speech pattern and different mental capabilities.
It is to be believed that SCP-XXXX's sting sucks out the consciousness and injects it into their next victim leading to confusion, difficulties performing motoric tasks and clinical insanity. However, individuals with a high tolerance for mental trauma can overcome these effects and adjust to their new body sometimes within even days. Supernatural mental abilities are also transfered this way including, but not limited to, reality bending abilities, see recovery log and interview logs below.
Frequent transfers of the same consciousness lead to lasting impacts on the psyche, primarily a growing zealotous belief in an insectoid deity.
SCP-XXXX has also been observed to open small holes in time and space and disappear entirely. Interviews lead to believe that SCP-XXXX is capable to travel to other dimensions using these holes. However, due to the extrem rarity of this event in captured instances of SCP-XXXX it is thought to be a last resort to find food. Therefore providing enough nutrition for captured instances is the top priority to prevent containment breaches.
In case of a containment breach, on-site personell is allowed the use of normal means of insect repellents such as bug spray, nets and in case of an severe breach, flame throwers.
By order of the ethics comitee: all attempts to transfer the consciousness of foundation personell are strictly prohibited and require the approval of an 05-member.
Recovery Log:
SCP-XXXX was discovered during a foundation raid on a cult located in south Arizona, USA called "The Way to the Above". Foundation agents reported missing peoples cases as well as growing tensions between the commune and local police forces which led the foundation to investigate the cult.
