SCP-5977 “Piper”.

Containment class: Euclid. Disruption class: VLAM. Risk class: Caution.
SCP-5977 is a humanoid entity that can cause moderate to severe psychological and physical injuries to anyone who is exposed to their vocalisations; most commonly their singing. Subjects who come into contact with SCP-5977’s singing often experience common symptoms of Anxiety, Mood swings, Depressive episodes and in some cases Hysteria after up-to 30 minutes of exposure. Cases have been shown to worsen with repetitive or prolonged exposure to the entity but are considered victims of SCP-5977 up until they reach a peak level of Exposure (Estimated 2-3 hours) in which they develop an addiction towards the entity’s singing (Those affected in this way are to be referred to as SCP-5977-1 in further examination).

SCP-5977-1 become extremely aggressive towards those not affected by SCP-5977 and should be considered a threat towards personal assigned to the entity as they become reckless, towards their own personal health and others, as well as irrationally paranoid, depressed, violently possessive and increasingly suicidal. Those affected by SCP-5799 have been known to attack one another leading to further decline in mental and physical states. Lastly after a long period of exposure: nose bleeds, seizures and loss of hearing begin to occur as they spiral into complete disassociation, comas and finally death without outside interference. Cases of SCP-5977-1 have been known to recover after separation from SCP-5977 but, due to the massive psychological damage, can take years of therapy and has lead to a singular increase in suicides in the compound currently holding SCP-5977.

Despite this, SCP-5977 itself is often docile and amiable with staff (Likely due to prior socialisation with its surrounding populace) and has discussed a wide variety of subjects with those assigned to interact and frequently come into contact with it. All interactions performed with the entity done through non-verbal and often written communication. Containment of SCP-5977 is relatively simple as any kind of auditory interception cancels out the entities effect; soundproofing and gagging measures for this particular individual have been shown to render them ineffective when both containing and transporting them.
Auditory blockers/mufflers have been issued to relevant staff to continue allowing them to handle SCP-5977. Efforts for neutralisation of entity have been currently ineffective as removal and alteration of the voice box has not impeded 5977’s anomaly. Although not imperative, neutralisation should be considered a key point of interest as the it has not displayed any further regret for its actions outside of distaste and (in some cases) disgust which provides further questioning of SCP-5977’s capabilities and motivations. Members assigned to the entity shall be documenting any findings about SCP-5977 outside of already known information, making sure to look into any and all past occurrences as well as character with similar descriptions.

Further investigations into SCP-5977 has revealed an extremely detailed past as civilian Michael Pipers (Singer at a low-income establishment in New York) at the time of this identity the entity either did not possess its anomaly or hid its true nature from those around it. At the present moment, however, findings suggest the latter as a more likely case due to Micheal’s disappearance shortly after a performance at his place of employment where he was seen being taken from the premises rather inebriated. After not returning the following night; the authorities were called but could not find anything out of place at Michael’s residence. Whilst not known for sure what occurred; due to the time period being close to the 1980’s it is believed that the case did not fall under proper scrutiny and was simply overlooked as another disappearance caused by those of extreme religious beliefs. Michael was seen as an individual of great benevolence and was often regarded as someone of trust within his social life. To date little is known about what happened after his disappearance but it is most likely to assume he did not make it out alive, which brings forth more questions about SCP-5977’s existence.

Testing of the entity should be limited to those deemed necessary with express permission as even those with limited exposure to SCP-5977 can have negative results in long term mental health. Any and all auditorial recordings of SCP-5977 should be treated with extreme caution and effectively neutralised after use due to symptoms of Effects being shown after listening. SCP-5977 should be considered a dangerous individual due to its unpredictable motivations. With little information provided about their past they should be assumed competent and willing enough to kill.
