Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4738 is to be contained within a small wooden box within an item vault located at Sector-██, making sure that no objects are placed within SCP-4738. The object is stable and is not dangerous to anything that is made of organic matter causing no further procedures to be required.
Description: SCP-4738 is an unexceptional looking item, coming in the form of a singular rubber band with the dimensions, 10cm x 10cm x 0.2cm. Its behavior is also similar to a rubber band as it can be stretched in every direction until its diameter reaches 27cm, yet when stretched further it will not break, pointing to its physical makeup being unknown as of yet.
It has two other abilities besides its unyielding nature, one being its ability to cut any normal non organic object and the other being the powers it gives to organisms when worn.
When a solid object is placed within the center of the band, SCP-4738 will start to shrink and constrict itself around the object until it meets the surface. Subsequently, it will then start cutting through the object with relative ease, akin to a knife slicing through a vegetable or fruit, with no regards to the material placed within it. When the band has cut all the way through the object, it will expand back into its original shape and resume its normal behavior.
Alternatively, when wrapped around the limb or body of an animal, given that the animal is small enough, SCP-4738 will shrink until it fits perfectly around its area of application. After the band shrinks, the organism undergo "rubberification", dubbed by Dr. ███████, and will have its physical properties to be changed into something akin to rubber. The user will then be impervious to many types of damage including blunt and sharp, in addition to this, the user is also elastic, causing them to be able to rebound of objects and stretch themselves. In order to remove this ability, it must be taken off the user, which can be done easily by pulling it off. If the band is removed, the user will immediately return to normal, however, they will be left with a peculiar black scar in place of the previous position of the band.
This ability was exploited in its place of origin, located in ████ ██████, where it was found being used by an individual who was gaining money by dueling in an illegal fighting ring.
Additional Notes: SCP-4738 may be taken out of its containment by scientist, given that 3 or more level-3+ personnel are in charge of supervision.
