SCP-4078
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4078 is to be contained
in a 0.5 x 0.5 x 0.5 m container of titanium metal. Unlocking of SCP-4078’S
container and subsequent testing must be approved by a Level-3 Personnel or
higher. Testing of SCP-4078 is to only be completed in testing chamber —— in
Site-11. D-Class subjects with no history of anxiety and minimal stress-related
issues are strongly preferred for testing.
Any personnel within a 0.07-kilometer distance of SCP-4078
with increased cortisol levels lasting longer than 5 hours must report to
medical facility —- for Class-B amnestic.
Under no circumstances is SCP-4078 allowed to be out of
sight of accompanying personnel (see
incident log 2832-A).
Description: SCP-4078 is what appears to be a foam
“stress-ball”. While SCP-4078 will randomly change its appearance anywhere from
three to seven hours, its most common form is a plain small yellow ball with a
diameter of six inches and a black smiling face on its front. Subjects within a
contact of 0.01 km area of SCP-4078 will experience a nearly-overwhelming wave
of stress and anxiety and are compelled to believe squeezing and activating SCP-4078’s
anomalous properties are the only way to relieve these symptoms.
Upon activation of SCP-4078 lasting longer than 2.3 seconds,
the subject will experience a heightened and permanent state of stress and
anxiety. MRI scans show increased levels
of Norandaline, Adrenaline, Catecholamine, and Cortisol in the affected brain.
Affected subjects also demonstrate increased heartbeat, blood pressure, and
muscle tightening. Personnel within a 0.7 km area of SCP-4078 also report increased
similar symptoms. However, these usually return to normal after a maximum of 5
hours.
Currently, no human subjects who have come into contact with
SCP-4078 have lasted longer than 36 hours, dying from either heart or cardiac
arrest complications. While administering Class-A Medicine helps dilute the
symptoms and relive some distress of the subject, the affects on the body
persist.
If SCP-4078 has not been activated within a period lasting
longer than 46 hours, it will “track” the location of the nearest human. This
ability is not hindered even if the human is partially or completely obstructed
by another object. SCP-4078 seems to be able penetrate through these
obstructions if their strength is lesser than titanium metal. How exactly SCP-4078’s
foam can penetrate these barriers is currently unknown. This ability was not
currently known until May 19, 201-, in which SCP-4078 broke through its
containment cell and into the adjacent wall where SCP —— was contained. This
resulted in a containment breach that [DATA EXPUNGED].
Addendum-4016-A: Experiment of SCP-4078, with Dr. —- and
Junior Researcher — accompanying.
Twenty D-Class test subjects (D-2043 to D-2063) were
instructed to enter containment cell —- that stationed SCP-4078 in the center
of the room. All twenty subjects were instructed to not come into contact with SCP-4078
under any circumstances. D-Class 2043-2053 were made aware of SCP-4078’S
anomalous effects while D-class 2053-2063 were not. Only D-Class 2045 and D-
2051 were able to successfully complete the task, both resisting SCP-4078’s
effects for 3.7 minutes. After this time, SCP-4078 began rolling to the
subjects’ feet. D-Class 2051 was able to further resist SCP-4078 for
approximately another 4.7 minutes. SCP-4078 was then observed to roll up to
D-2051’s body and directly into their palm. D-2051 squeezed instantly and
perished after only 1.23 hours, the shortest out of all recorded subjects.
