Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is disguised as a weather satellite. SCP-XXXX is not to be made known to personnel working in Site 48's Temporal Research Dept under no circumstances until reclassification as Explained. Further containment procedures are not necessary.
Update AS OF TODAY, 10/2x/2020 RECLASSIFICATION AS EXPLAINED PENDING.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a satellite orbiting at LEO1. The satellite has two major functions. The first is producing a field that negates all anomalous effects in a radius of not more than 100 meters around it2, and the second is storing data recorded from earth, and nearby space3. The technology used in SCP-XXXX is, since 2003, completely understood by mainline physics.
The anomalous nature of the object is its grade of technology, non-existent inside or outside the veil, but undoubtedly of human origin, as its operating system is reminiscent of current operating systems used worldwide, and its hardware is similar to current weather satellites. It is at a level that the Foundation is expected to reach by 2026, as it contains hardware and software the foundation is currently in the process of developing.4
History log:
1958: SCP-XXXX's was discovered while the Foundation was camouflaging its satellites in preparation for the space race. The technology used in launching objects into orbit and powering them was anomalous at the time, and after many reported malfunctions due to SCP-XXXX's nature, after months, SCP-XXXX was discovered by a Foundation radar. A satellite of unknown origin that neutralized all Foundation attempts to approach, and collected data from earth was first classified as Keter, with a risk class of Danger, and disruption class of Ekhi.
1964: The first contact with SCP-XXXX. A non anomalous Foundation rocket was first developed that year. The MTF Psi-7 "Star Gazers" confirmed that the satellite was of human technology. Noted that "the technology was however at least half a century away from the current Foundation Technology".
1965: SCP-XXXX was disguised as a weather satellite. Reclassified as Euclid. Risk class changed to Warning and disruption class changed to Vlam.
1986: SCP-XXXX sent its first message to the Foundation. It was encrypted with an ever-changing algorithm. Declassification deemed "Impossible for now"
1992: New encryption software proposed by the IT Dept. Its function was nearly identical to SCP-XXXX's encryption patterns.
1993: SCP-XXX's message was successfully deciphered. It explained SCP-XXXX's mission. Collecting data regarding anomalous activity from the past for the Foundation. As a Foundation made satellite from the future, the clearance was changed to 4. Object class changed to the present one.
2004: The field surrounding SCP-XXXX was successfully identified as a Scranton Reality Anchor.
2016: Site 48's Site Director claimed unsatisfied by the lack of knowledge regarding anomalous activity before Foundation predecessors. Senior Researcher [name], head of a research group of Site 48's Temporal Research division, proposed sending a satellite to the past to collect anomalous data. The initial design was nearly identical to SCP-XXXX, but without a Scranton reality anchor and with a less resilient alloy. Code named: The Observer. It was tasked with going 50 thousand years to the past.
2017: A Scranton Reality anchor was added to The Observer, to prevent it from being destroyed by the GOC or the Foundation before it's transmitted data can reach the foundation.
2019: A more resilient alloy was added to The Observer. Its mission changed to 203,032,345 years in the past.
10/2x/2020: The Observer is launched. At the same time, SCP-XXXX transmits all data regarding anomalous activity for the past 203 million years. The Data revealed [REDACTED]. Senior Researcher [name] promoted to head researcher of Site 48's Temporal Research Dept.
