Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is allowed the same clearance levels as SCP- XXXX-2. If SCP-XXXX-2 dies, SCP-XXXX has been instructed to attempt to make it’s next host someone working at the Foundation, preferably someone with no more than Level 4 access. Should SCP-XXXX not be able to make it’s next host someone working at the Foundation, MTF Sigma-67 (“Shadow Friends”) are to locate SCP-XXXX-2 and bring them to the nearest site for containment and amnestics are to be applied to any other people that have spotted it. The new SCP-XXXX-2 is to be assigned to D-Class and a cover story is to be given for their disappearance. Should SCP-XXXXs new host be someone high up in Foundation personnel (such as someone with greater than Level 4 access or a member of the O5 Council), SCP-XXXX will not be allowed to follow SCP-XXXX-2 when XXXX-2 is going into an area with Level 5 access and up.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a tall, humanoid organism with long, thin limbs. SCP-XXXX’s arms end in hands with three long, thin fingers. SCP-XXXX’s legs do not seem to have any sort of feet, yet is capable of supporting itself. SCP-XXXX has pale eyes and a large mouth, often in a smile. SCP-XXXX’s height varies, as it will often decrease or increase it’s height to fit the room it is currently in. While outside or in a room with a ceiling over 2.3 meters, SCP-XXXX has a maximum height of 2 meters. SCP-XXXX is visible to the naked eye, but is not capable of being recorded on any sort of recording technology. SCP-XXXX’s appearance can be recorded through means such as artistic depictions. SCP-XXXX is sapient, and is able to communicate.
SCP-XXXX’s anomalous properties come from the fact that SCP-XXXX is attached to a host, hereafter referred to as SCP-XXXX-2. SCP-XXXX will be able to communicate in SCP-XXXX-2’s native language. SCP-XXXX is not physically attached to SCP-XXXX-2, and can spend up to 24 hours at a distance over 50 meters away from SCP-XXXX-2 without suffering a feeling akin to homesickness. SCP-XXXX-2 will also suffer this feeling upon spending the same time and distance away from SCP-XXXX. Upon the death of SCP-XXXX-2, SCP-XXXX will then be transported to a new person, who will then become the new SCP-XXXX-2. SCP-XXXX has very limited control over choosing it’s host, but has on occasion been able to influence what it’s next host will be. SCP-XXXX’s current host is Dr. C████, who is working at Site [REDACTED]. Testing has shown that SCP-XXXX-2 shows no adverse effects aside from the previously mentioned feeling of homesickness that occurs.
SCP-XXXX will often be very protective of SCP-XXXX-2, often attempting to keep SCP-XXXX-2 from getting hurt. SCP-XXXX will only attack when it deems the threat to SCP-XXXX-2 to be lifethreatening. SCP-XXXX’s most common use of attack is to scratch the attacker. Scratch marks caused by SCP-XXXX’s claws often cause an advanced form of necrosis to develop, which can lead to death unless the infected area is removed. Death from scratch marks on arms and legs can be prevented through amputating the infected limb(s). Scratch marks on the head or body are almost always fatal unless they are on a section of the body that can be removed without damaging vital organs. SCP-XXXX says that they do not know why their scratch marks cause this effect.
SCP-XXXX is quite compliant with Foundation personnel, answering any questions about itself that it can answer. SCP-XXXX does not remember it’s origins, but has given plenty of accounts of previous SCP-XXXX-2s, going back as far as ██████ B.C.E.
SCP-XXXX was recovered on ██/██/19██ in ██████, ██, when ███████ █████████, who had recently become SCP-XXXX-2, attempted to call their local news channel to tell them about what had just occurred. Foundation personnel intercepted the call and sent a retrieval group to pick up SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-2. Amnestics were given to ███████’s family and friends that were at the house at the time with a cover story given to explain ███████’s disappearance. Upon containment, SCP-XXXX was quite friendly, and was kind enough to give information about themself.
Interview Log: ██/██/19██
Interviewer: Dr. ██████
Interviewee: SCP-XXXX
Dr. ██████: So, what is your name?
SCP-XXXX: I have been given many names over the years, but I have never given myself a name.
Dr. ██████: Well, while you are contained here, your name will be SCP-XXXX.
SCP-XXXX: Okay, that’s fine, any reason why XXXX?
Dr. ██████: I cannot answer that question.
SCP-XXXX: Very well then.
Dr. ██████: So, do you know the person who attempted to tell a news crew about you?
SCP-XXXX: They were my newest host.
Dr. ██████: So, you have had other “hosts” before?
SCP-XXXX: Yes, I have had around █████ hosts.
Dr. ██████: I’m sorry, how many?
SCP-XXXX: █████, give or take a few ███
Dr. ██████: And how long has this been going on?
SCP-XXXX: The furthest back I can remember is about ██████ years.
Dr. ██████: I see.
*Dr. ██████ jots down notes*
Dr. ██████: So, how have you eluded capture before now?
SCP-XXXX: Recently I have been trying to disguise myself by putting on a lot of clothes. When I transfer hosts while the new host is asleep, I try and take some clothes from the nearest possible source of clothes, put them on, and then try and stay as far as I can without the feeling coming on.
Dr. ██████: What feeling?
SCP-XXXX: I just feel like very sad, and often want to get closer to my host. Normally it takes a while before the feeling kicks in, usually about a day.
Dr. ██████: I see, and if it is when the person is awake.
SCP-XXXX: I just try and hide so that they think I was just their imagination, I haven’t had to do this in a while, as most of my most recent hosts have been asleep during my switching of hosts.
Dr. ██████: Thank you for your cooperation, more interviews will happen over the course of your containment.
SCP-XXXX: Your welcome. Also, before we end this, I think you should know that I switch hosts upon my current host’s death.
Dr. ██████: Thank you, we will take that into consideration.
