Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is currently contained by the subterranean Area 43 facility, the primary entrance of which is a large freight elevator located within a United States Navy-owned facility in Naval Station Treasure Island. Eight L-Field Submission Columns1 currently penetrate the exterior barrier of SCP-XXXX in order to prevent the expansion of its L-field projection. Two LSCs have been inserted through the ankles, two through the wrists, one through the pelvic region, one through the chest cavity, and two through each eye socket. Each LSC is fitted with advanced radiometric sensor packages capable of detecting minute alterations to both the L and Hume fields in addition to approximately 65,000 metric tons of LNSF2.
All LSCs are affixed to a monitoring and supply substation3. Substation O and its associated LSC also functions as a recording and processing center for brainwave-analogous energy fluctuations within SCP-XXXX's skull. All substations and the primary living quarters and research center of Area 43, designated 43 Central Station, are connected via a network of tunnels containing railways, freight elevators, and liquid pipelines. The two primary lateral transport lines, R-A and R-B, extend approximately 100 kilometers in either direction away from Area 43 and the site of SCP-XXXX in order to provide surface access to the facility in clandestine locations.

If any LSC detects a disruption in SCP-XXXX's L-Field pojection exceeding 25La, Area 43 is to enter a Yellow Alert state and prepare for the evacuation of all personnel not essential to the immediate prevention of a Recorporation Event. Substation O is to engage full L-suppressant bombardment, diverting as much LNSF from other substations as necessary to bring L-Field levels within safe operating norms. Applied Task Forces ATF-43A "Surgeon Generals", ATF-43Β "Brainworms", ATF-43Γ "Heartworms" and ATF-43Δ "Pinworms" are to prepare L-Field protective gear and wait for a Red Alert state. A Red Alert state will automatically be declared should L-Field disruption measurements exceed 30La, which is expected to result in the sudden expansion of the radius of SCP-XXXX's L-Field projection and cause near-instantaneous decorporation of all Substation O personnel.
Under a Red Alert state, ATF-43A, ATF-43B, ATF-43Γ, and ATF-43Δ are to enter 43 Central Station and substations, H, and U respectively in order to ensure control of all systems critical to the termination of a Recorporation Event in progress. If ATFs 43-A through 43-Δ are unsuccessful at reestablishing containment of SCP-XXXX within one hour, an automatic Black Alert state will be engaged, at which point each substation will transmit any remaining unprocessed offsite and trigger the detonation of thermonuclear devices installed in each substation.
If neutralization of SCP-XXXX is not confirmed following detonation, all foundation Personel with knowledge of SCP-XXXX and Area 43 are to await instruction from Overwatch Command.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an entity currently resembling a human skeletal structure, approximately sixteen kilometers in total length and located approximately four kilometers beneath the surface of the San Francisco Bay. SCP-XXXX's current form behaves as physical matter, its composition analogous to but not matching that of human bone tissue, although this is the case only when it is in an inactive state, during which it is considered contained. During an uncontained state of activity, SCP-XXXX behaves as a rapidly-evolving pattern of energy comprised of an array of massless energy carrier particles produced by a quantum field known as the L-Field. During this state, incidents of which are known as Recorporation Events, SCP-XXXX is capable of free movement through solid matter and produces an extremely high level of visible-light radiation, making it visible at opaque angles through the Earth's surface.
SCP-XXXX was originally discovered in 1989, shortly after the theoretical proposition of the L-Field by Dr. Theodore Lam4. At that time, foundation satellites equipped with wide-band radiometric were able to confirm electromagnetic radiation consistent with the presence of with several thousand Lam particles locked beneath the Earth's surface by its geomagnetic field. Lam Particle 504 was identified as the candidate most easily retrievable by the Foundation for the purpose of extended study, due to its location approximately twenty-five kilometers underneath the seafloor of the Pacific ocean approximately fifty kilometers south of the main island of Hawaii. After a drilling operation resulting in the successful containment of LP-504 an aerial transport operation bound for Site-98 suffered a critical mission failure, resulting in a containment breach that relocated LP-504 several kilometers beneath the San Francisco Bay. In the following twenty-five days prior to containment, LP-504 underwent an unexpected and dramatic shift in form, making transport impossible and prompting reclassification of the object to SCP-XXXX.
SCP-XXXX's evolution from LP-504 is cataloged as the first of two "Partial Recorporation Events", or PREs. During a Recorporation Event, a Lam Particle's area of influence within the L-Field expands significantly due to exposure to disruptions in the L-Field produced by nearby conscious living organisms. During the Lam effect produced by SCP-XXXX is great enough to erode and eventually neutralize disruptions in the L-Field necessary for organic life to exist, and causes a measurable decrease in entropy observed within the L-Field within its area of influence. This process allows SCP-XXXX to attack both the organic structure and conscious minds of living beings in order to fuel the rapid growth of its own structure.
After containment via an emergency deployment of a single, then-experimental L-Field Submission Column, construction of Area 43 began. Approximately five years later on July 18th, 1994, SCP-XXXX underwent a second PRE and breached containment, resulting in the loss of 192 Area 43 on-site personnel and partial decorporation sickness occurring across San Francisco, as well as the evolution in form of SCP-XXXX to its current state5. SCP-XXXX was recontained by the deployment of three more LSC units as well as as the efforts of ATF-43, then newly formed and not yet divided into its current component units.
Since the July 18th PRE, research has led to the current projections of a third Recorporation Event by SCP-XXXX, including the containment procedures for such an event outlined within this document. A recent analysis of energy waveforms measurable within SCP-XXXX's skull indicates activity consistent with that of an unconscious adult human being. Projections of a third Recorporation Event indicate that SCP-XXXX would likely enter a conscious state between 5 minutes and one hour of becoming uncontained, and that following a period of one hour without containment, all Foundation technology capable of L-Field manipulation would become non-viable for establishing containment and termination of a Recorporation Event, likely resulting in a hypothetical Total Decorporation Event, in which most or all organic life on Earth will experience decorporation to facilitate SCP-XXXX's evolution. This point of growth is referred to as the Recorporation Event Horizon or REH.
It is not currently known if SCP-XXXX has, or is capable of having, any conscious or designed purpose or intent for Recorporation, nor are the exact mechanisms for its current evolution understood.
