Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a 10.5x25 cm lockbox, locked both manually and electronically.1 At midnight GMT on the Wednesday of every week, the physical key to the lockbox is to be collected from the Site Director at the Site where SCP-XXXX is currently stored, and SCP-XXXX and the key are to be transported to another site within 100 miles selected at random. Upon arrival at the new site, the key is to be provided to the Site Director, who must also change the electronic lock code. A backup key, both physical and electronic, must be provided to no more than two other personnel of Class B or above.

At midnight GMT of the Sunday of every week, the Site Director (or one of the backup personnel, if the site director is unavailable) is to open the lockbox and view the time and date stamped on SCP-XXXX's envelope. If the marked time is less than 1 hour after the current time, no action is to be taken, and SCP-XXXX must be returned to the lockbox. Otherwise, the Site Director is to conference with Ethics Committee members on site to determine an appropriate action based on the contents of SCP-XXXX. If necessary, the determined action is to be communicated to the Director of the Site nearest to the address on SCP-XXXX's envelope, who must take such action if possible.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a folded letter on standard-size white paper contained within a #10 envelope. The letter and addresses on the envelope are written in the Times New Roman typeface, and the envelope is stamped with a postmark in black ink. Chemical analysis of the paper, envelope adhesive, and ink have revealed no abnormalities.

At midnight GMT on the Sunday of every week, the text of SCP-XXXX's letter, as well as the mailing address, return address, and postmark date, change in content. Testing has demonstrated that all text on SCP-XXXX is seen as written in the first language of the reader, though this effect does not carry when a picture of the envelope is viewed, revealing that the actual language in which SCP-XXXX is written changes with the text on it.
