Item #: SCP-4648
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4648 is to be contained in a 5 m x 5 m cell, and placed on a common steel table. One security camera will remain active at all times documenting any change in what is perceived as "normal" behavior for the objects and entities residing within it. Two armed guards will remain outside the cell door at all times in case of any dangerous or unexpected behavior from the anomaly, or to prevent attempted entrance from unauthorized personnel.
Maintenance staff are instructed to clean out SCP-4648 on a weekly basis as to make sure not too much wreckage piles up.
Description: SCP-4648 is a close-to-life model of Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. The object is 1.5 meters long, 0.5 meters tall and 1 meter wide. The object itself displays no anomalous actions or properties.
Within SCP-4648, there are multiple miniature die-cast NASCAR models, of which all come from the MONSTER Energy series. Each entity is named by the number listed on the model (ex, Kevin Harvick's #4 car is dubbed SCP-4648-4). Each entity within SCP-4648 displays the ability to move, or rather drive itself around and inside the track. Every Saturday, around the same time as a regularly scheduled NASCAR race, each car will line up and begin the laps. As each NASCAR race track differs in length, the amount of laps the cars take before one is declared the winner is changed to try and replicate the length of the day's assigned real-life race.
If an entity is removed from SCP-4648, it will lose all anomalous properties, and will act as a normal die-cast model. All other die-cast models placed inside SCP-4648 will retain its normalcy, displaying no anomalous properties.
All entities within SCP-4648 are able to be damaged, but by the time a race has been over for an hour, any signs of hits or bumps seem to disappear, and the entity looks fresh and out of the box new.
Test Log, 4648-1
Date: Saturday, ██/██/██
<Begin Log>
Dr. ██████: Alright, send him in
One Class-D personnel enters the containment cell holding 1 (one) NASCAR 2016 die-cast figure
Dr. █████: Lets begin. D-8464, please observe the track and describe what you see.
D-8464: Alright, I- D-8464 gasps This is a sight to behold. Hey doc, how did you know I'm into NASCAR?
Dr. █████: I didn't, and we're still in the middle of a test. Please describe what you're seeing.
D-8464: Right. there are about, I don't know, 30, maybe 40 cars? Each one seems be moving on its own. It looks like they're about to start a race.
Dr. █████: Thank you. Please remove one car from the track and place it on the table next to you.
D-8464 does as instructed, placing a single car from within the track on the table, a few
inches away from the track.
Dr. █████: Thank you, we will be observing any actions taken by the model you just
removed. Now, please place the model you brought with you inside the track.
D-8464 once again does as he was told, and places it in the middle of the active track. As the cars reach the model placed inside, they seem not to notice and drive past or into it, sending the non-anomalous model to the side of the track.
Dr. █████ sighs
D-8464: Hey doc, any chance I could watch this for a bit? I haven't been able to watch any NASCAR since I was placed in here.
Dr. █████: No, I'm afraid not. You're needed in the containment cell of SCP-████
D-8464: Dammit! I'm stuck in a cell 24/7 and tested on daily and I can't even watch a race? Come-on doc, we can write it off as a test!
Dr. █████: D-8464, comply or I'll have you terminated. You know how Doctor ██████ gets when his subjects are late.
D-8464: I- yea, I should probably get there soon.
Dr. █████: Alright, well, you may exit the cell.
The door opens behind D-8464, and he walks out, mumbling to himself.
<End Log>
Closing Statement: It seems that no models except for those found within SCP-4648 display any anomalous properties, and any outside models placed inside the track retain normalcy. No further testing is required, unless any change is observed in SCP-4648's behavior.
Test Log, SCP-4648-2
Date: Saturday, ██/██/██
<Begin Log>
D-7891 enters SCP-4648's containment cell, and is instructed to remove SCP-4648-48 from the track mid-race. D-7891 is allowed to watch the rest of the race, and once the race concluded, was instructed to place SCP-4648-48 back into its assigned pit stop. After all these tasks were completed, D-7891 left the cell, and was returned to the Class-D Containment Zone.
<End Log>
Closing Statement: Nothing out of the ordinary was observed, and D-7891 was returned to his cell successfully. It seems interfering with races has no affect on how they play out, apart from the number of entities participating.
Addendum SCP-4648-A
After this latest test, around the same time D-7891 removed SCP-4648-48 from SCP-4648, professional NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson disappeared from the inside of his #48 vehicle, and the car was sent flying into the guard rails. This event killed one bystander and injured 4 others, all of whom were visitors to the track viewing the race. All civilians who were at the race were exposed to Class-A Amnesiacs, and the broadcast was stopped before the incident could be shown. Driver Jimmie Johnson is currently pronounced dead as a cover, but under the condition he returns, he will be interviewed by SCP personnel who will decide how to deal with the given situation. All tests on SCP-4648 are halted, and need permission from Site-██ Administrator to continue. Containment procedures and description updated.
