SCP-XXXX before it was retrieved by recovery team in [REDACTED], New Zealand

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be monitored daily and tested in bimonthly intervals during or before the event of a 'call out'. It is to be sealed in a soundproof 4m x 4m sized containment cell centered in the middle atop a pedestal with no more than 6 fold up chairs circling it. Any Level 2 or higher personnel must wear Grade 3 protective earmuffs at all times when on-site, researchers who are frequently assigned to SCP-XXXX are to have their Cochlear surgically removed. 12 D-Class personnel holding cells are to be located around the containment cell of SCP-XXXX with the researcher lab being located approximately 50m from cell with several airtight doors and sound-proof walls with 6m spacing in-between. D-Class be to be granted anything they ask for as long as it isn't a containment hazard and must be monitored for signs of depression or mood swings.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a rectangular wrapping of Newspaper with a size of 42cm by 25cm by 9cm in dimensions crudely held together with sellotape. The Newspaper used in the wrapping of SCP-XXXX is typically dated between 19██ to 19██ featuring headlines involving tragic or depressing events of that time period, dates increasing with each layer being removed. At no point should SCP-XXXX come in contact with fire or sharp objects that would be able to pierce through multiple layers at once.

Every 13 days SCP-XXXX enters a 'call out' phase where it begins emitting old party music ranging between Rock n Roll, Disco and occasionally modern songs for 10 - 15 minutes originating from within SCP-XXXX . During this period all people who hear the music whether consciously or sub-consciously must participate in the event, this includes any foundation personnel who hears it too. If less than 6 people hear the music, the volume increases at an increasing rate of ten (10) decibels a minute. The maximum range and volume limit is currently seems to peak at 150 decibels, however higher volumes have been reached. Volume drops back to a comfortable 60 decibels for the remainder of the 'call out' once all the individuals have taken a seat around or near SCP-XXXX . Once at this stage in the event, one of the subjects must pick up the parcel and follow the rules to the classic British party game, Pass the Parcel. All rules for the game must be strictly followed while event is occurring, failure to do so will result in termination and all staff must follow standard containment protocols.

When it is a subjects turn, they must tear off the outer layer of Newspaper and pass the parcel out to the subject to their right. Discarded paper must be incinerated after every session. If by any reason more than one layer is removed or parcel is passed to the wrong person then all staff on-site must enter the nearest sound-proof room until further clearance is given. During a failed event SCP-XXXX will emit a spontaneous burst of noise at 20█ decibels, enough to kill all subjects within containment.

Every █ to ██ layers an object will be presented as a 'prize' to the opener hereby referred to as SCP-XXXX-A to C. SCP-XXXX does not seem to lose size or mass even after a 'prize' is presented. This prize is determined on multiple factors including age and mood of the personnel (See Addendum XXXX-01). Subjects who are over the age of 19 will receive a spherical ball of diameter 7cm composed of solid Copper with an engraving of the subject's full name and suspected date of death below (So far this date has proven to be inconclusive) referred to as SCP-XXXX-A.

For testing with subjects younger than 19, 4 level 3 or higher must be present within the room and all D-Class are to have passed an extensive mental evaluation test prior. Mobile Task Force units are to be dispatched immediately in case of a breach. Subjects who open SCP-XXXX with a happy or excited mood will be presented with an object that they desire most which is of size to fit within SCP-XXXX referred to as SCP-XXXX-B. SCP-XXXX-B is only limited to physical objects to what it can manifest into, excluding physically impossible objects or objects made from non-existing elements (See Addendum XXXX-02). Take note that as SCP-XXXX-B tend to be safe class objects, the possibility for dangerous or deadly objects are possible too if the subject desires for it.

If the subject is in a depressed, angry or sad mood then SCP-XXXX will present a random prize of leveling amounts of threat referred to as SCP-XXXX-C. Which type of mood or how intense the mood is does not seem to effect what SCP-XXXX-C will be as long as the person feels some type of distress. Any intentional testing of SCP-XXXX-C is to be only granted by level 4 personnel, else all subjects must be in a happy mood at all times during interaction with SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX-C instances tend be of dangerous objects of Euclid or Keter level classification. However unlike SCP-XXXX-B, objects are unlikely to be living or sentient (See Addendum XXXX-03). Any object retrieved must be fully analyzed before testing can be taken out of the object, regardless all objects are to be incinerated if possible.
