Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5788 Will not cause harm unless touched by bare skin. If testing of this specimen is required, it shall be transported with the individual wearing 3 synthetic gloves in each hand at the same time. SCP-5788 may only be tested by D-class personnel.

Description: SCP-5788 appears to be the Commodore LCD laptop-computer, but massively taken apart. All of the components left intact include:

  • The screen
  • Keyboard
  • Motherboard
  • RAM module

Although this computer doesn't include a battery, it seems to work regardless. During tests, the object induces the subject to constantly type what seems to be everything that happens in their life after they acquire SCP-5788.

If separated, the subject seems to act normal. But after a prolonged period, they start to forget some memories. And if quarantine from the specimen is after a long enough period, the subject begins to forget basic human functions, leading up to the point where the subject lays motionlessly on the floor forgetting how to breathe and dying.

If the specimen and subject reunite, the subject will furiously start typing whatever happened during separation.

In conclusion, once contact occurs between a subject and SCP-5788, SCP-5788 reprograms the subject's brain to write to the computer and treat it as a "diary". And once separated, the subject attempts to remember everything that happened, in order to write it down to the computer afterward.
