Item #: XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: XXXX is to be kept within a sealed crystallized glass case as to prevent any direct line of sight. This glass should be no fewer than 10 centimeters (4 inches) thick. This case is to be contained within a steel shielded room at all times. Doors are to be triple-locked at all times, with the exception of allowing personnel in or out. Attached to this room as well should be a standard secure humanoid containment cell for use of study on subjects affected by XXXX.

Description: XXXX has the appearance of a normal stick of gum being 2-1/2" in length, 7/8" in width and 3/32" in thickness. Each instance of XXXX resides in a aluminium paper wrapper and every instance resides inside of your standard gum package. The package containing no name brand or identification other than simply the word gum. The package always remains full no matter how many pieces are removed. The packaging seems to be an exoskeleton for the protection of XXXX. It is later discovered that each instance of XXXX makes this exoskeleton as a means to multiply and spread by camouflage as a normal pack of gum. The flavor of the gum seems to vary by each subject and correlates to the emotion being expressed. As a being it seems to have no purpose exactly, it only seems to spread unbeknownst to itself. It shows no will to continue its survival as seen in the instance of subject XXXX-1c. It only exists to exist, and the effect it plays in human nature is due only in part to its own biological make-up.

Addendum XXXX.1: Discovery

XXXX was discovered when a series of reports from ███████ , IL came in on ██ sept, ████.
The reports consisted of the same rough description, a human who exhibited extreme anger and was impervious to all physical damage. When confronted by authorities of the area extreme hostility was noted when an attempt at arrest was taken. After much struggle with armed guards secured one of the humans while the remaining fourteen cases were dispatched when a piece of gum was dislodged from their mouth and they succumbed to existing wounds. The secured subject was then taken back to the containment facility. Discovered on him was a pack of gum.

Addendum XXXX.2: Interview with subject

Interviewed: Subject XXXX-1a
Interviewer: Dr. Stern
Foreword: The subject continues to chew on XXXX and remains in an agitated mood. Noting that the gum has a cinnamon flavor.
<Begin Log>
Dr. Stern: Can you state your name for me?
Subject XXXX-1a: █████ Waters.
Dr. Stern: Good, why Mr. Waters are you agitated as such?
Mr. Waters: My wife that █████ cheated on me and I want her dead.
Dr. Stern: Your wife Mr. Waters is dead. She died during our attempt to secure her.
Noted Log: Mr. Waters wife was one of the fourteen others that succumbed to their wounds.
Observation 1: After Mr. Waters learned of this his anger was quelled instantly, returning to a calm man. Still he remained alive despite his wounds.
Dr. Stern: Mr. Waters, how do you feel?
Mr. Waters: I feel fine despite clearly being wounded.
Dr. Stern: Can you please spit out your gum Mr. Waters.
Observation 2: The instant Mr. Waters spit out the wad of gum he died.
<End Log>
Closing Statement: It seems that the gum is the main anomaly here. I would like to see if the lab can bring back any results as to why it causes such a reaction within a human.

Addendum XXXX.3: Lab results

The lab seems to have come back with a few results. The piece of gum in question is no different from your ordinary piece of cinnamon gum. Except in one instance it seems to secrete a neurotoxin of unknown structure.

addendum XXXX.4: Control experiment 1

Subject: XXXX-1b
Researcher: Dr. Stern
Foreword: This is an experiment to test the limits of physical damage sustainable to humans while chewing on XXXX. subject will be referred to as prisoner D-2938
<Begin Log>
Observation 1: One piece of XXXX is placed on a dish and passed through a compartment on the steel door leading to the observation chamber.
Dr. Stern: D-2938, please proceed to the compartment and chew on the piece of gum as you would do so normally.
Observation 2: After a couple minutes D-2938 showed signs of active aggression, subject started to beat on the door yelling for his release. As time progressed his anger worsened and it was learned he held hostility towards another prisoner.
Observation 3: It is at this point it is decided that full effect of XXXX has taken place and full release has been given to use lethal force. The first tests consisted of blunt force beating by a bat, sledge hammer and riot gun.
Dr. Stern: After the series of tests it is noted that D-2938 has obviously both a broken left arm but also clear damage to rib cage with possible broken ribs and damage to organs. When asked if he is experiencing any pain D-2938 responded with the words "no, I want that ███████ D-3144 here so I can strangle the life out of him."
Observation 4: This series of test will consist of a range of small to large caliber firearms with the target area being mid torso to lower neck. Firearms consist of a 9mm Beretta, .45 acp Desert Eagle, 5.56mm M4A4 Carbine Rifle, 7.62mm AK47, .300 Win Mag M24 and a 50 cal beret.
Dr. Stern: All rounds managed to connect in the target area with each one having their respective normal damage to that area. D-2938 has now a clear hole in his chest where his sternum would be originally. At this point it should be noted D-2938 no longer is seen to be breathing and when asked questions no longer responds but with blood running from his mouth. The heart should also be assumed to no longer be beating yet clearly D-2938 still is alive and active.
Observation 5: At this point it was decided to sever D-2938's head from his body. When this happened the body immediately dropped and ceased all function. The head on the other hand continued normal operations.
Termination: XXXX was removed from D-2938's mouth and the subject died.
<End Log>
Closing Statement: It was observed that all physical force is useless in killing subjects, only known way of killing a subject is to remove all instances of XXXX from the subject.

Addendum XXXX.5: Discovery 2
A report of a woman jumping off a eighteen story tall building repeatedly has come in, and a containment unit was dispatched. The area this time being the next city over from origin of discovery. On arrival the unit reported that the woman had just began free fall. Upon impact with the ground the woman almost instantaneously stood back up and ran for the stairs. Subject was secured with relative ease, she only wished to die. Unknown to her though is the piece of gum she swallowed prevented such a thing. It was established that the only plausible location of XXXX was in the digestive track after oral cavity search showed no signs of XXXX. Once again the subject was brought to the containment facility for further research.

Addendum XXXX.6: Interview with subject

Interviewed: Subject XXXX-1c
Interviewer: Dr. Stern
Foreword: Subject shows signs of extreme depression and continually attempts suicide with whatever proves possible. Noting that the gum has a peppermint flavor.
<Begin Log>
Dr. Stern: Ma'am can you please calm down.
Subject XXXX-1c: Subject remains unresponsive and only continues to attempt to suicide.
Dr. Stern: Send in an extermination team.
Note: The only feasible way of eliminating XXXX was incineration. So this was to be tested on subject XXXX-1c.
observation: After the fire was extinguished no signs of life remained in the containment cell. The pile of ashen remains was then swept up and tossed in the incinerator for safety measures. The remains of this second burning were then to be watched for the next 24 hours for any signs of life. After the 24 hour period nothing had changed and the ashes were disposed of.
<End Log>
Closing statement: It is now know that the only way of exterminating XXXX is to burn it to a pile of ashes.

Addendum XXXX.7 Future report handling
At this time it is deemed that all incidents occurring outside of the facility in regards to XXXX are to be incinerated and exterminated.
