Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in an airtight storage box at all times, except for testing purposes. To use SCP-XXXX for testing, the box must be brought into the testing chamber before the box can be opened.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a standard pillow, 51 x 66 cm in size. The pillow is covered with a red pillowcase which seems to have no opening. Apart from this, the pillowcase shows no anomalous properties. There is a lack of any tag on the casing or on the pillow inside.

SCP-XXXX's anomalous effects manifest when a human enters a REM sleep state while sleeping on SCP-XXXX.1 After doing so, the human, hereby referred to as 'subject', will become 'marked'. There seems to be no limit as to how many subjects can be marked at once. Once a subject is marked, they will progress through stages SCP-XXXX-1 to SCP-XXXX-8, only moving up a stage once the subject enters a REM sleep state in the same room as SCP-XXXX.2

Stage Description
SCP-XXXX-1 The next time the subject enters a room containing a bed, the previous pillows on the bed will be replaced by SCP-XXXX3
SCP-XXXX-2 As stated above, however with the addition of another variant of SCP-XXXX with an orange pillowcase
SCP-XXXX-3 As stated above, however with the addition of another variant of SCP-XXXX with a yellow pillowcase
SCP-XXXX-4 As stated above, however with the addition of another variant of SCP-XXXX with a green pillowcase
SCP-XXXX-5 As stated above, however with the addition of another variant of SCP-XXXX with a blue pillowcase
SCP-XXXX-6 As stated above, however with the addition of another variant of SCP-XXXX with a purple pillowcase
SCP-XXXX-7 As stated above, however with the addition of another variant of SCP-XXXX with a pink pillowcase
SCP-XXXX-8 As stated above, however with the addition of another variant of SCP-XXXX with a black pillowcase

Once a subject enters a REM sleep state at stage SCP-XXXX-8, they will immediately expire with no feasible form of resuscitation. Post-mortem autopsies indicate a death via asphyxiation, with signs of a struggle, despite the lack of movement observed before death.
