Item #: SCP-4153
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4153 in a small wooden box located in Site-XX. No further action is necessary.
Description: SCP-4153 is a non-labeled white disk resembling that of a DVD. SCP-4153 will operate normally if inserted into a device that can play DVD devices with a screen. SCP-4153 can manifest as any type of open-world video game, and will appear differently to everyone who views the screen.
Anyone who attempts to play SCP-4153 will gain an ever-growing desire to play the game. Approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes into the game, SCP-4153 will begin to deviate from the original source material. The source material may be any game that is both three (3) dimensional and you may move about as you please. Deviations include blood stains in places they should not be, oddly placed items, and gibberish in place of dialogue or readable text. Bystanders will not witness these effects, but they can be recorded. These events will occur more and more often the longer it is played.
After approximately 2 hours of playing the game, the subject begins to want to play SCP-4153 over doing anything else. This desire grows the more the subject, at this point labeled SCP-4153-1, plays the game. After 2 hours and 30 minutes, Non-Player Characters will rarely be jumbled, with parts of their body being replaced and their models stretched and distorted. SCP-4153-1 may not recognize this, and continue on. Upon noticing the non-player character, SCP-4153-1 may not interact with the character due to extreme anxiety upon viewing the entity. Bystanders can see character, but cannot receive any of its effects. See Addendum 4153-A for more details.
When talking to the entity or entities, hereby designated SCP-4153-2, the character will stare straight at the player for approximately 15 minutes. During this time, SCP-4153-1 cannot look away from the screen, even through physical force. See Addendum 4153-B for more details. After this period ends, SCP-4153-1 will pass out for exactly 5 minutes to the nanosecond.
Upon waking up, SCP-4153-1 cannot move any part of the body except for their arms. The pause menu for their game is replaced with the words "Kill Everyone." This text is a dark red liquid overlaid on the screen, and attempts to take a sample or study the liquid have been rendered void. Since the analomous effects of SCP-4153 are only visible and therefore only affect the person interacting with it, any bystanders cannot gain the liquid for themselves. The player character now gains a dark red marker over every character in the game. In games with no way of effectively killing characters, walking up to them and pressing any button will brutally dismember and disembowel them.
Upon killing every character in the entire game including instances of SCP-4153-2, a final instance of SCP-4153-2 will approach the player. This instance will talk to the player directly, and may be addressed directly from anyone in the room. Upon ending this conversation, SCP-4153-1 will proceed to attempt kill itself in any way possible. After this, SCP-4153 will not display any signs of anomalous behavior for 30 days. Attempting to play SCP-4153 during this time will result in static, with barely audible humming.
Addendum 4153-A:
The following is an audio log of the second attempt at playing the game, recorded on X/XX/XX
Researcher XXXXX: Wait. What is that in the corner?
D-583: What are you talking ab… Oh.
Researcher XXXXX: Please go and speak to the creature.
D-583: No, I don't want to! I heard about what happened to the others. That ain't happening to me, nuh uh. I'm out!
*Approximately 3 days, 2 hours and 34 minutes later*
D-583: *sound of controller hitting floor* I can't do it anymore, doc! They're everywhere! I can't escape! I can't escape!
Researcher XXXXX: Please, pick up the controller and continue playing.
D-583: I can't doc! OH [EXPLETIVE]! ITS IN THE WINDOW, OH [EXPLETIVE]!
Researcher XXXXX: There is no one in the window. Please explain what you are seeing.
D-583: THE [EXPLETIVE]ER IS IN THE WINDOW! OH ITS LOOKING AT ME! AHH, NO! NO! NO!
(Loud panting and yells, with Researcher XXXXX trying to calm D-583. Subject soon ceases yelling and stops breathing. Autopsy revealed D-583 had suffered from cardiac arrest due to anxiety.
