[[SCP - XXXX (TAUNT AND MOCKERY) DRAFT / GETTING IT ON PAPER]]
Object Class: SAFE

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be held in any standard weapons safe (in the site which houses anomalous weapons – deemed most appropriate by the moderators). It is suggested a staff member (guard?) without prior knowledge or interaction of the safe’s contents be stationed (too obvious?) SPC-XXXX may not be contained in the same safe as other anomalous items which can cause instantaneous bodily injury or death.
The lock combination must be changed monthly by personnel deemed mentally competent with the task and be given a mental evaluation upon completion of the task. Alternatively, any Level-0 or Class-D personnel destined for testing within a twelve-month period would be ideal. Absolutely no handling of SCP-XXXX is allowed during this procedure. Failing to comply could result in immediate disciplinary action including, but not limited to, permanent restriction to request access to SPC-XXXX.
No high-level personnel may personally touch or come within 12 ft of SCP-XXXX without explicit consent from Site Supervisor. 12 ft is the approximately double the average distance before any anomalous effects may begin to arise.
Cleaning of SPC-XXXX is to be performed every six months, or directly after usage in the field for research. Level-0 or Class-D personnel who are scheduled for testing within the next year would be ideal for this task.

Description: SCP-XXXX has two anomalous effects.
SCP-XXXX is a (later to be decided – same as the guards?) handgun. SPC-XXXX has no identifying qualities which would differentiate it from any other handgun within its model, manufacturer or serial range. It can be loaded with ammunition specified to its make and model. SCP-XXXX will not allow the trigger to be pulled when pointed at a living entity while a bullet is in the chamber. The exception to this is if SCP-XXXX has been loaded with a blank round and is fired at a distance which would not allow for the target to be injured in anyway. Many tests seem to provide enough evidence to suggest that SCP-XXXX cannot be fired to cause to harm to an living organism. It has been successfully fired at all other targets, including a human corpse.
SCP-XXXX

Discovery: SCP-XXXX was discovered when Guard-1 was seen attempting to hang himself on security footage at Site [REDACTED]. Footage captures Guard-1 placing SCP-XXXX’s barrel against his temple before throwing SCP-XXXX and using his bootstraps as a noose. A full recovery was made within 5 months of this incident. The guard had requested leave for “not feeling well enough to work” several weeks prior to this incident. Suspicions arose of SCP-XXXX’s anomalous effects when the Guard-1s successor, Guard-2, approached management requesting leave due to similar mental health issues. Guard-2 had bestowed upon him the care of Guard-1’s service weapon (SCP-XXXX) while recovering.
After several searches of quarters and Interrogation it is unknow at this time how Guard-1 came within possession of SCP-XXXX. Potential infiltration of rival corporation should not be considered impossible. SCP-XXXX could have been planted within Site [REDACTED] with malicious intent.
This event resulted in SCP-XXXX undergoing testing to determine potential anomalous attributes.
Suspicions of SCP-XXXX being anomalous confirmed from the resulting test study:

Studies: A study was done where several Class-D personnel (test subjects) were asked to fire SCP-XXXX at the range for as long as they possibly could. SCP-XXXX performed well and was as proficient as the test subjects’ ability to aim and fire.
Accuracy decreased gradually over trial period as test subjects began feeling apathetic about the activity. Generally, within the first 2 hours. The longest time recorded firing at the range is 10 hours before any negative emotional impact is noted or discussed by the subject.
A second study which involved test subjects firing the weapon at the range 3 hours a day for as many consecutive days as possible. When operator is asked the next day if they would like to go to the range and use SCP-XXXX again, the response is negative 83% of the time. No test-subject has agreed to use SCP-XXXX daily for more than a month.
Aggression and/or irritability is seen within most test subjects who have performed the test for longer than a two-week period when issued the request. Monitoring of test subjects after the study showed most showed signs of depression, anxiety and or a notable lack of confidence than previously noted. In extreme cases, some reported a sense of “lost self”. These symptoms were effectively cured in most subjects with therapy and anti-depressants. None agreed to take the study a second time.
