Special Containment Procedures: SCP – ??? resides in a vacuum chamber within a research facility (built around the anomaly) posing as a defunct nuclear power station.
Exactly 7 research staff and 6 security personnel should remain within ███████████████████████████ █████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████ █████████████ approximately equivalent to 2148 meters at all times, any change over must occur with no more than ███████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████ ██████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████ equating to just over 2 hours. To help ensure switch overs are completed correctly there are two 4 meter tall fences (with barbed wire atop and radiation warning symbols) at 2100 and 2200 meters, with only one secured passage out and one parallel passage in, through which exit can only occur as another enters.
To maintain cover research staff are required to wear radiation suits at all times when potentially visible to civilians, and to perform a believable decontamination procedure when exiting the location.
Should any civilian manage to view SCP – ??? any effects upon them should be explained as side effects of radiation poison, and they should be administered Class-C Amnestics, MTF Gamma-5 (“Red Herrings”) will assist by misleading and preventing information leaking to local civilian medical staff.
SCP – ??? should never be directly interacted with, or viewed by the eye, and in fact can only be partially viewed as such; in response to this fact a wall of micro-cameras and other measuring devices are instead placed observing SCP – ??? from the outside of its container at all times.
Discovery: SCP – ??? was discovered after a pattern of unexplained blindness, and death by explosives without any trace of a source found by investigating officers. MTF Gamma-5 (“Red Herrings”) at the behest of the ██████ government took over proceedings under the guise of ████████ and alerted the Foundation to the likelihood of an anomalous object on ██████████.
Description: SCP – ??? is a 2 dimensional asymmetrical shape that appears suspended approximately 17 meters above an open field in northern ██████. SCP – ??? is nearly imperceptible as it can only be seen from precisely one angle, specifically ██ degrees relative to the gravitational pull of the Earth, currently bearing ███████████ degrees from North, and only produces any measurable effects in straight lines orthogonal to its apparent surface. The surface itself fits within a square meter at time of discovery but has since grown; this is discussed later in this document.
This anomaly does not in fact have any dangerous radioactive properties, but does produce electromagnetic radiation in the form of high energy visible light that appears to our measuring devices in a seemingly random quivering mix of all known colours in addition to an uncountable number of colours that no one viewing the footage or any other measurements has been able to describe at all. The light from SCP – ??? does not reach beyond approximately 2148 meters for reasons currently unknown, and the object rotates about its centre at a rate of █ degrees █████████████ every ████ secs for every person less than 13 within the effective range of the anomaly, and spins extremely rapidly if more that 13 people are present releasing ███████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████ ████ this phenomenon is known as SCP – ??? – 1, these issues were discovered within the first 2 weeks of study and led to the implementation of the special containment procedures. SCP – ??? – 1 is responsible for the deaths of Dr ██████, Dr █████, and a group of ██ students from the University of ██████████ on a gap year back packing from ██████ to ██████, this phenomenon has been determined as a viable candidate for energy generation in the form of ████████████████████.
Viewing SCP – ??? immediately blinds the viewer as per flash blindness, leaving them with a searing pain sensed in the eyes, as well as a severe migraine, both of which seem permanent; such persons are hereafter referred to as SCP – ??? – 2. Despite being medically blind SCP – ??? – 2 can still see SCP – ??? at all times and know exactly where it is in relation to themselves, both direction and distance. Should an instance of SCP – ??? – 2 look towards SCP – ??? they are 70% likely to freeze, stare, and begin mumbling incoherently, regardless of if the surface of SCP – ??? is facing SCP – ??? – 2 or not.
After 6 months of measuring the anomaly the research team were certain that it was growing albeit incredibly slowly, after testing it was discovered that SCP – ??? grows by █████████ matter and faster when spinning. In a test involving a D-Class subject (1 count of murder), the subject was instructed to enter the viewing room blindfolded and was instructed to reach out with a saucepan in order for the pan to touch SCP – ???, the result was a 10% increase in the size of SCP – ??? as it ████████ all of the pan contacting it, triggering an instance of SCP – ??? – 1, and hence an explosion of shrapnel that cause extreme trauma to the face, arms, and torso of the D-Class subject, subject was apparently killed instantly by the blast. No further tests introducing matter to SCP – ??? have been approved, and the anomaly has remained contained within an absolute vacuum chamber since ██████████.
As a result of testing SCP – ??? has been changed from class Euclid to class Keter due to the possibility of an XK end of the world scenario, however, current evaluation by 05 has deemed current measures are sufficient. The situation is continuously closely monitored in case of new developments.
