SCP-4887-a; a copy of Dante Alighieri's Paradiso, the third and final instalment of Divine Comedy

Item #: SCP-4887

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4887 is to be held at Site-66 within a standard containment chamber that has been modified to increase the height of the room to 3.5 meters. Observing chambers are to be soundproofed as to prevent the object from hearing Foundation personnel and glass is to be reinforced to prevent damage from infrasound. Personnel are to wear auditory PPE within the observation chambers at all times. The containment chamber is to be monitored on a 24/7 basis.

Six loudspeakers are to be fitted each wall of the containment cell and be directionally focused on the object at all time whilst emitting frequencies between 5 hertz and 15 hertz.

Direct contact with the object is to be restricted to research-relevant tasks only. Interviews are to be conducted through a D Class proxy within the chamber. Monitoring is to still continue. Loudspeaker activity should not cease unless deemed necessary by appropriate research managers.

Any D Class personnel that come into contact with the object must undergo a psychological evaluation and be subject to a 2-week period of 24/7 monitoring within a standard containment cell located on site. Any instances of subjects expressing high levels of empathy or concern towards the object are to be reported to Dr. Gary Naber and affected subjects are to be administered high-level amnestics and relocated.

Description: SCP-4887 was kept in the basement of Dr. [REDACTED]1 where '15Hz Bass Test' on Youtube was looped. It was being monitored by 3 webcams connected to Dr. [REDACTED] secondary laptop. Foundation personnel were informed of its existence after multiple reports of dried organs (presumed to be the object's waste matter) were found in the surrounding area of ████████, █████████. Both SCP-4887 and Dr. [REDACTED] were taken to Site 17, however, SCP-4887 was relocated to Site 66.

SCP-4887 resembles a human corpse without skin, allowing muscular tissue and organs to be seen. Muscular tissue replicates that of a human being in addition to the appearance of the organs present. All tissues appear to retain little amounts of moisture due to the lack of fluids within the body. The object lacks a pair of lungs, the liver, and the kidneys. The ribcage and various pieces of the skeleton are missing. Connected to the torso of the subject where the skull in a human sample skeleton would be allocated, a structure resembling that of a mature Pinus coulteri is situated. The structure is made from muscle tissue similar to that of the main torso that is protected by a layer of meristematically active cells.

Following Operation Cosmonaut2, it has been determined that the cell layer has an increased rate of regeneration linked to its exposure to photons, both artificial and natural.

The object expels waste matter following a 28-day cycle in accordance with cycles of the moon. When the phase of 'new moon' is demonstrated, the object sheds waste matter and the cycle then restarts. Observations of the expulsion conclude that the object's waste matter is derived from the original tissue on its body but is replaced in the process of its aging. Once the waste matter is expelled, the tissue underneath the original position surfaces and begins the aging process.
