Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX is not to be moved from the containment unit beneath Site 25 until further notice. The exterior area of SCP-XXXX’s containment unit must be checked regularly for rodents and large insects. Only one Class D personnel may be present within the artifact’s central chamber.

Upon manifestation of SCP-XXXX-2, site personnel must ensure that all biological matter exposed to SCP-XXXX is destroyed, and all Class D personnel are administered high dosages of amnesiacs until all memory and influence from SCP-XXXX has been erased.

Once contact or confirmed presence of SCP-XXXX-2 has been recorded. MTF-Tau-6 (“Lovecraft's Liquidators”) will enact Protocol Dunwich.

Description:

SCP-XXXX are a collection of items consisting of a religious totem of undetermined origin or culture, estimated to be of South American origin. The totem is 3.5 meters tall, and 1 meter wide. The totem depicts of humanoid arm-like appendages intertwined around each other, comparable to a double helix, though the leftmost 'fingers' of the totem have been chipped away. The totem is constructed of a material that is similiar to bone, though no conclusive tests have been performed due to SCP-XXXX’s “self-defence mechanism”. Other artifacts of similar properties were recovered from the original dig site, including a set of beads made of a substance similar to bone, remnants of what appears to be ceremonial garb, and assorted pages of religious text. All objects are to be contained together, unless individual testing has been requested by personnel who have been cleared for testing by Dr. Fleur or Commander Grey of Tau 6.

Once activated, SCP-XXXX emits a telepathic signal in approximately a five-hundred (500) mile radius that compels all sentient organisms as close as possible to the epicentre of the broadcast. While most intelligent entities claim to follow this signal out of curiosity, rodent subjects and animals seem to be forced through body manipulation to reach the centre of the signal.

All intelligent life that is within a (15) meter radius of the altar will because unresponsive momentarily. Subjects claim to communicate telepathically with an entity referred to as Cython in text and supposed communication. From this point forward, it will be referred to as SCP-XXXX-3. Interviews between subjects and SCP-XXXX-3 have provided little information towards the true intentions of SCP-XXXX-3, however subjects exposed claim to feel the need to gather organisms at the totem.

Sentient life within 20 meters of the totem wil begin to secrete an adhesive substance, with some acidic properties. Any organic matter that comes in contact with this substance will begin to disolve and reform as structureless biomass. After approximately thirty (30) minutes of exposure the totem, the organism will lose all higher brain function, and will begin to seek out organic matter to add to its own biomass, until it has gained enough mass to be deemed SCP-XXXX-2.

Once SCP-XXXX-2 has gained enough organic matter to gain mobility, it will seek to actively find other organisms to add to it's mass. Upon encountering other sentient life, SCP-XXXX-2 will maim the organism, primarily through immobilizing the legs or rendering the creature unconscious with blunt trauma to the head.

Upon gathering roughly 3 tons of biological material, SCP-XXXX-2 will return to SCP-XXXX's altar where SCP-XXXX-3 wil transfer consciousness into the vessel.

Origin: SCP-XXXX was recovered by the Foundation on 03/11/93, after being discovered by archaeologists in Northern Peru. At this point, SCP-XXXX was classified as Safe. SCP-XXXX's area of effect reached to five meters, and only caused irritating headaches and ringing in the ears once a subject's attention was drawn from the totem within this radius. SCP-XXXX-2 and SCP-XXXX-3's existence seemed unlikely, as the text recovered alongside the totem was incomplete, and deconstructing the language of the text was slow. Ultimately, testing on SCP-XXXX was placed on hold as the items were deemed 'of little interest', and the complete set of items were placed within Site 25's storage facility.

On 04/05/03, SCP-XXXX was moved to Site 25 testing compound by Dr. Lind. For composition analysis, Dr. Lind chipped away material from SCP-XXXX's totem, immediately causing the totem to react. The totem began emitting a psychic signal, drawing in intelligent life, causing unrest for Class D and Security personnel alike. Ultimately, Dr. Lind contained SCP-XXXX within the former containment chamber of SCP-[placeholder], due to it's similar cognitive ability and classification.

On-site security suffered multiple casualties, finding that their firearms proved to be less than effective against SCP-XXXX-2, which had reached enough mass to contain SCP-XXXX-3. The biomass was destroyed, once Commander Grey utilized an incinerator unit (flamethrower) against the organism, eventually destroying enough mass to force SCP-XXXX-3 from the vessel.

Currently, SCP-XXXX holds the classification Euclid, at the request of Dr. Fleur and Dr. Lind.

Addendum:

Dr. Lind's actions have been properly punished, and her authorization to test materials on Site 25 have been revoked, since her departure from Site 25 testing, Dr. Fleur has taken over research into the nature of SCP-XXXX-3

Dr. Fleur's Notes on Tau 6:

While SCP-XXXX in itself is not dangerous, through ignorance and impatience we have given it the chance to destroy. Destruction, the Foundation strives to avoid destructive action by all costs, and yet through the actions of Dr. Stephanie Lind,
