Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Thaumiel
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained within a standard anomalous item storage locker at Site-19. No personnel under Level 3 clearance may be made aware of SCP-XXXX existence and no personnel under Level 4 may permit use of SCP-XXXX in field operations.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a 2007, first generation iPhone, colloquially known as an iPhone 2G. At first glance, SCP-XXXX displays no anomalous properties, it's functions synonymous with an appliance of it's make and model. SCP-XXXX's abilities only manifest once the camera mode is applied and takes snapshots of the user's surroundings, activating an instance of SCP-XXXX-1.
SCP-XXXX-1 is a Caucasian male of possibly European descent, currently garbed in a variety of traveling gear. Once a picture is taken with SCP-XXXX, an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 will appear within the resulting digital reproduction, often conversing and interacting with other subjects in the frame of the shot. Interviews with subjects have found a mild case of disorientation post-snapshot, expressing knowledge of interacting with SCP-XXXX-1 ranging from minutes to hours, despite the moment between snapshot and reproduction being in the milliseconds. Objects show no sign of tampering despite evidence of use with SCP-XXXX-1, but can seemingly be transferred from one photograph to the next.
According to interviews with Researchers, SCP-XXXX-1 does not recall ever having a name nor a year of birth, although it was informative as to SCP-XXXX's former owner Agitha "Aggy" Niépce and their escapades.
At the time of this article, SCP-XXXX-1 resides within a photograph of a Task Force Mess Hall replica.
Addendum XXXX-A: SCP-XXXX was brought to Foundation's attention shortly after the death of Agitha Niépce in ████, France. According to eyewitness testimony of non-affected individuals, Niépce had just finished taking a selfie of herself with the La Croix-Rousse in the background when she suddenly fell to the ground, unconscious. Despite rapid EMS intervention, Niépce was pronounced D.O.A; autopsy revealed the cause to be a brain aneurysm.
Conflicting testimony has Niépce taking the selfie with an individual that matches the description of SCP-XXXX-1, the duo interacting and initiating conversation with other individuals. Pattern recognition software has found that only individuals within the frame of the photograph attest to this claim, leading to Foundation agents to retrieve Niépce's corpse for study as well as SCP-XXXX.
Initial XXXX Anomalous Testing Phase ██/██/20██
Procedure: Researchers use SCP-XXXX and take several pictures of a standard containment cell. Five pictures were taken within the span of 60 seconds, allowing enough time for verification of non-iteraction. The goal is to verify existence of SCP-XXXX-1 and it's reaction to a new environment.
Results:
- Picture 1 - SCP-XXXX-1 appears in the frame, relaxing on the containment room cot. It appears to be waving at the camera handler.
No sign of any disturbance to the real-time cot.
- Picture 2 - SCP-XXXX-1 appears in the frame, once more on the containment room cot. It appears to have taken up reading 'The Picture of Dorian Gray'.
No sign of any disturbance to the real-time cot.
- Picture 3 - SCP-XXXX-1 does not appear in the frame. Instead, a piece of paper with a written message takes up the entire shot. 'Aggie are we in prison? Where are you??'.
No sign of any disturbance to the real-time containment cell, nor obscuring of the camera lens. It's determined that SCP-XXXX-1 retrieved the paper and writing utensils from his backpack.
