Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: safe Euclid
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX is currently contained in a secured lockbox located in the low security storage warehouse of site 64. SCP-XXXX is currently contained in a sealed chamber located in the euclid storage wing of site 64. Cameras are to record SCP-XXXX at all times. Any movement or other anomalous activity originating from SCP-XXXX is to be forwarded to the site director.
SCP-XXXX is not to be taken out of it's container for any purpose besides research. Any testing done on SCP-XXXX must be under the approval and supervision of a level 3 researcher or above.
Since 16-10-███6 all testing of SCP-XXXX has ceased indefinitely.
Authorization to use it when replacing paint in other parts of the facility were denied.
Description:
SCP-XXXX is a 10x20cm steel bucket, with no notable outer features. The bucket is filled with approximately 6 liters of liquid resembling red paint manufactured around 1960. Despite being left in the open for an extended period of time (approximately ██ years) it hasn't shown any signs of drying up or aging, like normal paint would. This might be a side effect of it's second anomalous effect. Any attempt to drain the bucket of this paint has so far resulted in failure, as new paint seems to be spontaneously generated to always fill it's limit of 6 liters.
It's third effect, discovered through testing shortly after containment, was found to be that any name, designation or similar that is written with paint from SCP-XXXX leads to the manifestation of SCP-XXXX-A. It should be noted that this extends to what would normally not be considered "names", such as symbols depicting an entity, or attempts to describe an entity using words.
XXXX-A is a phenomenon wherein any of the afforementioned designations or similar leads to the spontaneous appearance of objects that are supposedly created by that entity. This may include paintings, sculptures, [REDACTED], musical pieces (often written down on a sheet, though appearances of CD discs and other similar mediums that could be used to store music have been documented), material carvings, and other such objects. It should be noted that XXXX-A only activates once the tool used to paint is a certain distance above whatever is painted, currently believed to be one meter.
Exactly how SCP-XXXX determines if an object is created by someone is unclear, though a mental link has been established. Subjects given class A amnestics, then instructed to draw something, will have that drawing be copied. However, subjects who draw something, then are given class A amnestics, haven't been able to have anything manifest. Objects created by multiple individuals have proven inconclusive. Testing has shown that they occasionally appear, but fram from every time it's tested.
Discovery:
SCP-XXXX was discovered in the basement of a house, located in ███, Illinois, after local law enforcement conducted a raid due to an unusual ammount of extremely well done copies of famous paintings were traced to a specific house. Interviews conducted after the fact revealed that groups who entered the basement saw writing on the walls and floors, most of which consisted of the names of famous artists, aswell as a tremendous ammount of paintings, sculptures, and some unknown objects.
In the middle of the room SCP-XXXX was located, together with a paintbrush. The foundation was quickly informed of this through agents on the inside, and sent a team there to collect SCP-XXXX. All paintings were ceased by police beforehand, and were supposedly destroyed. The owner of the house is unknown, as no records of recent ownership could be found. Locating the owner is considered a priority 3 objective.
