3-D Bond Structure of SCP-XXXX

Item #: SCP-3053

Object Class: Euclid Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored under an inert gas, such as nitrogen fully submerged in 1.5 Liters of an oil solution, and must maintain a temperature no greater than 15 degrees Celsius (see Addendum XXXX-1).

Description: SCP-XXXX is an anomalous organic compound1 discovered in 20██ by researchers at [REDACTED] University Department of Biochemistry. The compound has a chemical formula of C34H43BrN4O5 and a molecular weight of 666 g/mol2. SCP-XXXX forms a crystalline structure at 15 degrees Celsius and has a slight orange tint (most likely due to the bromine atoms present). Interestingly, SCP-XXXX sublimes to a gaseous state at room temperature (20 degrees Celsius at 1 atm).

On April 9th, 20██, researchers at [Redacted] University synthesized SCP-XXXX. Two male researchers were discovered incapacitated by undergraduate ██████ █████, who also reported significant damage to the laboratory. The two researchers, once coherent, were admitted for psychiatric evaluation. Upon attempting to publish the compound in the American Journal of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, connections within the AJBB alerted the Foundation, and personnel were dispatched to seize the compound. All papers referring to the discovery and synthesis of SCP-XXXX have been confiscated, including the spectral analysis data recorded by the university's nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) instrument. (Shown Below).

The anomalous effects of SCP-XXXX can be seen when the compound comes in contact with mammals of either sex and humans that are biologically male (See Test XXXX-E). When a subject is exposed to SCP-XXXX in the gaseous form, the compound acts on the subjects 5HT2A receptor, producing strong psychedelic and sedative effects. While under the effects of SCP-XXXX, subjects report complete ego death followed by the presence of what has been described as "cosmic entities composed entirely of fractals". It is currently unknown if these entities actually exist, however they are most likely a result of SCP-XXXX's psychedelic properties (See Test XXXX-A). Due to the sedative effects and the selectivity of the compound, SCP-XXXX may be a strong candidate for the future development of biochemical weapons. As of yet, replication of the synthesis of SCP-XXXX as recorded by the original researchers has been unsuccessful. A complete list of tests performed are listed below.

Addendum XXXX-1: Upon transferring SCP-XXXX from [REDACTED] University, an unknown amount of the gaseous compound penetrated the glass, resulting in [DATA EXPUNGED] and the death of two personnel. The remaining compound was cooled to 15 degrees Celsius and submerged in oil. There have been no reports of containment breach since.
Addendum XXXX-2: All subjects exposed to SCP-XXXX's psychoactive effects were reported dead within several months after exposure including the original researchers at [REDACTED] University. According to the autopsies, all individuals who experienced the effects of SCP-XXXX were found with severe lacerations and scaring. Testing for possible medical, social, or psychological use is to cease immediately. Testing with the intent to weaponize SCP-XXXX is still under consideration, any inquiries should be sent to Dr. K██████ Inquiries should be sent to Agent Commander Bardon (See Investigative Report XXXX).
