Short: There is this dude who influenced a foundation researcher to believe that an scp exists even though there isn't enough hard evidence that suggests so.
Long:
There are 4 subclasses of the scp: -prime, -prime-a, -secunde, -i. Prime refers to the main anomaly, a middle aged man who have infiltrated foundation protection on a field researcher, and influenced him to do research on the debunked scp "-i". -prime is able to phase through solid objects to enter restricted areas unnoticed. He always carries around a cylinder shaped object called -prime-a. It is (first hypothesized, then proven) that this object is how he can phase through things. He uses his anomalic ability to get close to and influence the researcher. After the event, the researcher reopens the case and surveys large amounts of people who claim they saw something like -i. -i is a species of gigantic anthropoids that have a specialized apparatus in their facial area that they can use for interdimensional travel. Allegedly, these monsters travel from dimension to dimension, consuming every organic material in them. There have been reported sightings of giant anthropoids by random people in the past, however since no one could find evidence (footprints, inter-dimensional disruptions, recordings), the case was dismissed. Cut to our scientist (who is, due to his close relations and lying about his relations with -prime, called -secunde nowadays) openning the case back up and almost proving that -i exists. One day, the security personnel notice an uninvited guest interacting with the researcher, ask about it, and receive a negative response. After that day the research on -i is halted and the subjects are taken in a site for investigation. -prime gets separated from -prime-a and looses his phasing ability. T-prime-a doesn't give anyone else such abilities. While they are examined in closed environments in foundation facilities, they show great collaboration and the foundation decides to find the truth about -i. They try to interrogate -prime but he just keeps saying that they are real without giving more evidence. However, he suggests that he can "show" -i to the researchers if they can bring -prime-a to him. -prime-a gets coated with a remote controlled acid that can destroy it in seconds to prevent -prime from going rouge. After receiving -prime-a, -prime grabs a researcher and phases through walls. Interpreting this action as an attempt to escape, the acid is activated and cylinder device gets destroyed. As a result, -prime falls down and stays motionless. It is suspected that the device was connected with -prime more than people have thought and destroying it caused -prime's death. today, -prime remains in a coffin with vitality sensors in a foundation depot. He doesn't decompose, decay, or age and just stays in there. noone knows if -i is real or not and no further evidence is found.
I honestly am not sure what the best/most striking variation of this would be. I got a couple twists in mind as alternatives:
*-prime influencing the researcher to stop his research on -i.
*-prime interdimensional traveling instead of phasing.
*-prime faking all the "sightings" by causing hallucinations on witnesses.
*-prime destroying the recorded evidence or -i.
At the end, I want to leave the readers in this grey zone where they don't know whether if -i is real or not, but have an eerie feeling that foundation made a bad mistake/ overlooked something and are unable to prevent the horrible events that might ensue if -i are to be real.
