Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in an opaque locked box in the vault at Site-19. SCP-XXXX is not to be seen by any personnel. Use of SCP-XXXX is forbidden and any personnel found to have used SCP-XXXX will be either terminated in the later stages of the effect or ministered a Class-B amnestic if the effect has not reached its full potency.

Description: SCP-XXXX has the appearance of an ordinary pillow. Direct observation of the item causes the subject to experience extreme feelings of fatigue and a strong desire to sleep on it. When the object is slept on, the subject is afflicted with vivid night terrors and has periodic bouts of fit-like movement during sleep. Upon waking the subject shows signs of near crippling paranoia and approximately 4 hours after waking the subject will have visual and auditory hallucinations of the entities from the night terrors. Multiple tests conclude that the entities seen by all subjects is the same entity, hereby called SCP-XXXX-1. At an indeterminate point the subject will perceive all humans within their line of sight as an instance of SCP-XXXX-1.
Prolonged exposure to SCP-XXXX-1 will cause insanity in the subject who will eventually believe themselves to be the only human left. This produces varied responses from the subjects ranging from violence toward any perceived instance of SCP-XXXX-1 to suicide.

The foundation first became aware of SCP-XXXX when there was a string of unprecedented crime in [Redacted], Michigan. Foundation personnel were able to trace the source of unusual activity to a small, family owned mattress store. Sales staff welcomed the foundation personnel and offered them a free 15 minute trial nap on any mattress they wished. Foundation personnel declined and proceeded to provide fabricated credentials for [Redacted] then asked the staff if they could observe the store for a day. The staff of the store was accommodating to foundation personnel, even offering them something to drink.

Foundation personnel witnessed a civilian sleep on SCP-XXXX then wake up seemingly rattled. More personnel was dispatched to follow the civilian. Within 4 hours the civilian began to act in a state of intense fear when in the presence of another human being. The subject eventually began to loot random stores in the area while shooting at any human they saw. The civilian was apprehended by foundation personnel and the town was ministered Class-A amnestics.

Researcher in charge: Dr. Logan Joseph

Subject: D-Class personnel D-2346, a Caucasian male aged 32. No history of violent crime. Reason for demotion: Mishandling the containment of SCP-[Redacted] resulting in a containment breach.

Procedure: D-2346 is told to sleep on SCP-XXXX under supervision of security personnel and will be interviewed by Doctor Joseph after waking up. Subject will be kept under surveillance for the next 24 hours and interviewed periodically.

22:15 Subject placed in cell with SCP-XXXX
22:20 Subject lays his head on SCP-XXXX
22:30 Subject falls asleep on SCP-XXXX.
23:52 Subject begins to turn over and begins mumbling in his sleep.
00:23 Tossing and turning becomes more intesnse and the subject starts speaking louder and more clearly. Mostly variations of ‘please don’t hurt me.’
01:23 No change. Subject is still turning violently and shouting.
03:46 Subject ceases all movement and speech.
05:25 Subject wakes up
05:30 Subject escorted to interview room. Doctor interviews subject. Subject showed signs of extreme paranoia.
06:00 Subject escorted back to cell.
09:30 Subject frantically retreats to a corner of the cell, yelling at unseen entities.
10:00 Subject taken back to interview. Subject informs Doctor Joseph about the entities he is seeing. He identifies the entities as the same from his nightmare.
10:02 Subject perceives the guards escorting him as the entities. The subject runs away and locks himself in his cell.
10:12 Subject moves all of the furniture in the cell against the door
10:30 Security personnel gains access into the cell and apprehends the subject.
10:45 Subject is placed in a more secure cell with security inside as well as outside.
11:15 Subject has become incoherent and insane
13:02 Subject attacks security personnel disarming and killing one. Other 2 security officers enter cell and terminate subject.
