Object #: SCP-XXXX
Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX-1 and -2 are to be kept in separate storage lockers with different lock combinations. Testing must be approved by 2 researchers with level 3 clearance and may only involve class-D personnel(See addendum). When being used for testing, SCP-XXXX-1 is to be connected to a computer meeting the minimum specifications for Oculus-brand VR headsets. Computers used for testing of SCP-XXXX-1 and -2 are to never be given internet access, and incinerated after 30 days. SCP-XXXX-B are to be held in humanoid containment until termination is approved.
Under no circumstances is SCP-XXXX-1 to be disassembled.
Description: SCP-XXXX-1 is an Oculus brand VR headset with a large external battery and hard drive mounted to the back. Despite the battery’s size, the headset only weighs about 0.75 kg. SCP-XXXX-1 is capable of playing any standard VR game on any capable computer, but causes the game to crash after approximately 5 minutes due to unknown reasons.
SCP-XXXX-2 is a compact disk with the label (PENDING NAME). It can be accepted into any laser disk drive and will run on any computer with a VR headset plugged in. However, the program will fail to initialize properly on any headset other than SCP-XXXX-1.
Anomalous effects only occur when SCP-XXXX-1 is used to run SCP-XXXX-2 and a person puts on the headset. On external monitors, a barren wasteland filled with fire is displayed. Demonic-looking figures can be seen in the frame at all times. These figures can be seen beating and [DATA EXPUNGED] many featureless individuals. If external speakers are connected, various screams and moans can be heard.
From the headset, a room approximately 9 m by 9 m is seen, with a man in a black suit sitting at a desk, designated SCP-XXXX-A. SCP-XXXX-A greets the subject and offers him/her a seat. It then begins asking the subject personal questions, mostly concerning choices they have made in the past, writing down the answers given on a clipboard. This continues for 5 minutes, after which point the subject stops responding to outside stimuli for a minute. The subject then removes the headset, at which point the subject is designated SCP-XXXX-B.
SCP-XXXX-B will attempt to convince any human to play SCP-XXXX-2 through any means short of force. Instances of SCP-XXXX-B do not appear to be different in any way before exposure, however, EKG data has shown that they no longer experience REM sleep. To date, 46 class-D personnel have been designated SCP-XXXX-B, with 2 under extended observation and 32 having been terminated.
