Item #: SCP-7542
Object Class: Safe Keter [?]
Special Containment Procedure: SCP-7542 can not be contained forcefully, but is mostly compliant with our containment of it. However, due to its nature, SCP-7542 will often leave it's containment and site to perform it's "Job". Personnel noticing SCP-7542's absence from containment are to report it to Site Command immediately for documentation. SCP-7542 does not require food or water and poses no threat, and as such it is permitted that L0+ personnel (especially those having recently experienced a Near Death Encounter [NDE] ) be allowed to interact with SCP-7542. After requesting that SCP-7542 be visible to all Foundation personnel, SCP-7542 obliged and is now visible to all Foundation Personnel
Description: SCP-7542 is a 2.5 meter tall Caucasian humanoid, dressed in all black (predominantly leather) Plague Doctor attire. Based on its physical characteristics and most commonly perceived voice, SCP-7542 is assumed to be male, though It will often respond with silence when asked its gender or sex. Though SCP-7542 has never revealed its face, and no evidence is available to support the claim that its mask isn't its face, often while reaching for items its sleeve will be pulled back, revealing its skin pigment.
SCP-7542 will only appear to children (<19, with the exception of Foundation personnel) who are in Near Death Situations. Often times, it has been recorded that children will cease panic upon sighting SCP-7542, who will proceed to approach the child and either lay them down gently, or move them from the danger. In the event that the child is laid down, even before their death, SCP-7542 will grab them by the hand and pull them up. However, instead of the body coming up, a translucent, blue-tinted version of the child will appear to emerge from the body, at which point the body will cease life. SCP-7542 will then walk away with the translucent version, disappearing after about 7-10 seconds.
In the event that SCP-7542 'saves' the child, the child will live life. However, whenever the now grown child is on their deathbed, SCP-7542 will re-appear to them, often talking with them about random topics. When asked how they felt about SCP-7542, all subjects reported thinking of them as an old friend, and express no fear of their death. SCP-7542 will then grab their hand, pulling their translucent self out and walking away, disappearing after 7-10 seconds.
SCP-7542 has become a go-to for staff who are have recently had a NDE, are nearing termination, or anything such as that. Personnel who come to SCP-7542 with questions of death will usually remain within the room for roughly 1 - 1 1/2 hours. SCP-7542 will not begin speaking with them until all forms of recording are clear from the area, including outside observers. For this reason, it is unknown what occurs. However, all personnel report a positive experience, and that they "No longer fear the end", though they refuse to explain what had occurred.
Attempts to question SCP-7542 on its origin result in the item declaring that "He doesn't remember his dad". When asked if it was human, SCP-7542 became distressed, resulting in it laying on its cot for 10 months and 11 days, without any form of interaction (See Incident 7542)
SCP-7542 appears impervious to any damage or harm whatsoever. Even if harm is attempted, SCP-7542 will not retaliate or attempt to harm the aggressor, simply acting as if nothing happened. As well, SCP-7542's means of escaping its cell is unknown, though the double-six reinforced door is often found ajar after it escapes, but no camera footage of it leaving can be found.
