Item #: XXXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedure:
SCP-XXXX is to be kept as a physical file in the in the Foundation's archive with multiple dummy copies. No one below Security Clearance Level 4 is to be allowed access to the real file. No one is allowed to tamper with the file without permission of the Project Head. No one is to refer to it as anything aside from “SCP file: XXXX” in any form of vocal communication without permission from personnel with Level 4 Clearance or higher. No one is to refer to it as any Keter Class entity or other extremely dangerous creature/entity without express permission of the O5 Council. Any non-Foundation personal who discover the existence of SCP-XXXX are to be administered a suitable amnestic, as determined by time since discovery, in order to prevent them from referencing it. Should SCP-XXXX break containment, referring to it as SCP file XXXX will revert it back to a containable form. SCP-XXXX is not to remain the same living entity for longer than 24hrs. Testing of SCP-XXXX is to be conducted in a proper containment cell for what it will become.
Description:
SCP-XXXX is an entity whose form is determined by what it is called or referred to as in vocal communication. Distance from the speaker does not hinder the effect. Video, audio, and written accounts do not affect XXXX's form; however, referring to through a comm system does. Testing has shown that the language used does not hinder the effect, however the speaker must understand what he/she is saying. Referring to it as something general, such as dog or cat, will cause it to change into whatever form of that thing the speaker thinks about. If the speaker doesn't have one in mind, XXXX will turn into a random type of the thing it is referred to as. Referring to it as something abstract does not cause XXXX to change it's form; however, if SCP-XXXX is a living entity at the time, doing so will cause it extreme pain and to enter convulsions, which lasts until referred to as something else. If it is inanimate at the time, nothing will happen. Should it die or be otherwise injured or destroyed, referring to it as something else will still cause it to change.
Testing has shown that SCP-XXXX takes on all of the properties of the object/entity it transforms into, becoming indistinguishable from it's counterpart for as long as it is in it's form. This includes any anomalous properties should it become another SCP. Should SCP-XXXX become a living entity, however, it will start to become aware of the fact it is not the real thing, even without being told such from outside objects/entities. This will begin after SCP-XXXX has been the same living entity for 24 hours. After which it will become increasingly more focused on who it is, becoming agitated and angry at being referred to as whatever it's current form is. If SCP-XXXX is in a sentient form at the time, it will begin searching for it's “real name” and begin yelling at people who call it anything “That's not my real name!” Should SCP-XXXX be non-sentient but living, it will begin attacking Foundation staff and anything in it's containment cell even if it's form is not hostile. SCP-XXXX will grow increasingly hostile until it is called something else and it's form changes. SCP-XXXX can remain an inanimate object indefinitely with no adverse affects.
Recovery:
SCP-XXXX was recovered by MTF 13-Alpha, codenamed Dragon, approximately 30km south of Kermit, Texas, on February 15th 2019. MTF Dragon had been sent in to investigate when satellite observation indicated a large metallic entity in the area. Upon arrival, the MTF discovered 36 bodies and one passed out survivor, holding a book in his hands. Interviews with the survivor revealed that they were part of the Church of the Broken God and had attempted to utilize SCP-XXXX in order to turn it into Mekhane. It immediately realized it was fake and then killed most of the cultists. The one managed to survive because he was able to call it the book before he was killed.
