Lordmep's First SCP

Item #: SCP-4444

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4444 is housed at Site 444-1 and Site 444-2, located 20 kilometers south of █████, Texas. No part of SCP-4444 is to be removed from Site 444 without the approval of personnel with Level 2 clearance or higher. SCP-4444-2 through SCP-4444-8 have been deemed impossible to move, although other parts of SCP-4444 may still be transported for purposes of research or security. Controls managing the active status of SCP-4444-2 through SCP-4444-8 are not to be interfered with without approval of personnel with Level 4 clearance or higher.

The facilities which now comprise Site 444-1 and Site 444-2 were formerly under the control of the █████████ Organization until they were abandoned for, as yet, unknown reasons in 19██. The Foundation has chosen to maintain █████████’s cover as a weather research facility. Research and security personnel entering chambers SCP-4444-2 through SCP-4444-5 are required to wear the █████████ uniforms provided at the main entrance to each chamber, right in front of the decontamination rooms.

Personnel entering SCP-4444-7 or SCP-4444-8 are to wear Level 1 hazmat suits provided at the main entrance to the chamber. No special precautions are required when entering SCP4444-6.

SCP-4444-1 is under the impression that it is still in the custody of █████████. Efforts to inform SCP-4444-1 otherwise will be viewed as an effort to break containment and will result in being removed from the premises, by force if necessary, followed by immediate termination.

Only personnel with Level 2 clearance or higher are authorized to remove life forms from the active chambers, and only for testing purposes. (Note: These things are not pets, no matter how cute you may think they are. See Addendum 1.) In the event of accidental or unauthorized hazardous contact with any SCP-4444 samples, personnel are to immediately be quarantined and attempt to treat themselves with the medical kits placed in every room throughout the facility. Quarantine is to be maintained for 72 hours. After which, at risk personnel are to be examined to determine if they have become SCP-4444-A-1 instances. If so, personnel are to be reclassified as such and held in the Site 444-2 detention wing indefinitely. If hazardous contact with SCP-4444 samples is made within Site 444-1, personnel are to immediately seek out SCP-4444-1 for treatment.

Discovery: Foundation personnel were initially alerted to the existence of SCP-4444 on February ██, 2001 when citizens in the town of ██████ began making complaints of missing pets, strange sightings, and attacks by then unidentified animals. These incidents led to ███ injuries and the deaths of ██ civilians. Upon arrival, Foundation personnel rounded up as many of the creatures – now known to be instances of SCP-4444-C – as they could in the town’s immediate vicinity, although some were believed to have escaped. Efforts to track these creatures down are ongoing. All persons believed to have made contact with SCP-4444-C instances were administered Class B amnestics.

Remaining SCP-4444-C instances were tracked down to the facilities now known as Site 444-1. Foundation personnel found both facilities in perfect working order, if a little dusty. Whatever had caused █████████ to abandon these facilities, they chose to do so while leaving behind several encrypted documents pertaining to the nature and known behaviors of SCP-4444, but nothing pertaining to its origin. It was through reading these documents that Foundation personnel knew they had to dress in █████████ uniforms before entering the interior of Site 444-1. See Log SCP-4444-1-1.

A quarantine was declared on Site 444, which lasted until ██/██/██ as Foundation personnel assessed the structural integrity of the Site to determine how the SCP-4444-C instances initially broke free. To date, no breach points have been discovered. It is believed that youths from the nearby town may have somehow bypassed Site 444-1’s security, although this has yet to be confirmed. SCP-4444-1 claims ignorance of this breach, but has promised to prevent any such incident in the future.

The Foundation has been on an ongoing manhunt for personnel with direct connections to █████████ since SCP-4444’s discovery, but has yet to find anything. Personnel documents were either taken from Site 444 upon abandonment, or were otherwise destroyed. Interviews with civilians in the nearby town have confirmed that most of █████████’s staff were local to the area, many of which left behind families. However, this has not led to any substantial leads as all family and prior associates claim that █████████ personnel ‘left in a hurry,’ giving no information on where they were going or how long they planned to be gone.

Description: SCP-4444-1 is a male humanoid child at approximately 11 years old in appearance. Records left behind by █████████ lead researchers to believe that it is at least ██ years old, although this has yet to be confirmed. SCP-4444-1 is of indeterminate race and its skin has a greenish hue. Otherwise, all outward appearances do not significantly deviate from what is commonly expected of a child at that age. SCP-4444-1’s DNA is fully human, although ancestral tracking has proven difficult as SCP-4444-1 seems to simultaneously hold the same origin points of every major ethnic group of humans on the planet, as well as some which have yet to be identified.

SCP-4444-1 is generally regarded as friendly, sociable, and thus far has proven exceptionally cooperative with Foundation personnel. When conversing, SCP-4444-1 prefers to be addressed as ‘Adam’, the same name that was given by █████████ staff. In interviews, SCP-4444-1 has admitted no knowledge of anything before it woke up in SCP-4444-2 in 19██.

SCP-4444-1 exudes green mucus from its pores, consisting of a high concentration of microscopic organisms. This mucus is known as SCP-4444-A. When collected directly from SCP-4444-1 and immediately transported to the research facility at Site 444-2 – located 100m from Site 444-1 – the microbes comprising SCP-4444-A follow the standard behavior of most bacteria. Each batch of SCP-4444-A seems to thrive and suffer under different environmental conditions, but generally reacts negatively to temperature extremes. Experiments involving exposing SCP-4444-A bacterium to other lifeforms – including flora, fauna, and D-Class – have yielded mixed results.

In 99% of cases, the immune system of the subject will react negatively to the foreign material, resulting in illness with an average 5% mortality rate. Tests with standard anti-biotics and inoculation procedures have a high success rate of combating these illnesses. However, in the 1% of cases where SCP-4444-A does not result in illness, the bacteria mutates and integrates itself into the host organism; yielding generally benign or beneficial results, such as a strengthened immune system, a more balanced metabolism based on immediate environment, and even alteration to hormone production that results in changes in behavior. These mutated subjects are collectively classified as SCP-4444-A-1. If the mutated SCP-4444-A-1 is passed on to a subject of the same species, either through fluid contact or reproduction, the results will be the creation of another instance of SCP-4444-A-1 with virtually identical changes as the original host subject. However, contact with any other species will result in the normal behavior of SCP-4444-A with the same probabilities of illness and mutation. All living specimens of SCP-4444-A-1 are currently held at Site 444-2 for further research.

When SCP-4444-A is not immediately collected, it is allowed to fall wherever SCP-4444-1 walks. Through methods which have yet to be fully understood, SCP-4444-1 emits an as yet unidentified form of radiation that causes SCP-4444-A to experience rapid cell growth and mutation. This radiation is known as SCP-4444-B and extends roughly 87m from SCP-4444-1. Samples of SCP-4444-A left in range of SCP-4444-B will mutate to multi-cellular lifeforms within as little as ten hours. If unimpeded, the mutations will continue, generally resulting in increasingly complex organisms. SCP-4444-A-1 will also mutate when exposed to SCP-4444-B, but at a much more irregular rate. It is unclear to what extent, if any, SCP-4444-1 is able to control SCP-4444-B.

SCP-4444-C consists collectively of all flora and fauna resulting from unimpeded mutations of SCP-4444-A due to the effects of SCP-4444-B. The majority of SCP-4444-C specimens are held within the active biomes of SCP-4444-2 through SCP-4444-5, as well as special containment rooms at Site 444-2 for further study. SCP-4444-2 through SCP-4444-5 are to be monitored at all times, with research personnel required to make regular notes of what they observe.

SCP-4444-C instances vary wildly and manifest as every known domain and kingdom of life known to modern science, as well as several that are still pending classification. SCP-4444-C instances mutate into a wide array of species within each of the SCP-4444-2 through SCP-4444-5 biomes. (Note: Because of the limited space within these biomes, it is rare to encounter any mobile SCP-4444-C instances that weigh more than 40kg. Immobile instances, such as trees, also have limits and have yet to actually reach up to the ceilings of their respective enclosures.) The effects of constant exposure to SCP-4444-B means that SCP-4444-C are subject to continuous rapid mutation analogous to a rapid acceleration of natural selection and evolution over a few short generations.

SCP-4444-C instances may also manifest as viruses that have – since the time of this recording – resulted in 173 mass extinction events within the active biomes. Accidental exposure to these viruses have resulted in the deaths of ██ Foundation personnel, but only outside of Site 444-1.

Study of SCP-4444-C instances and their many facets of physiology and adaptation to environmental factors have led to numerous breakthroughs in the fields of zoology, epidemiology, botany, bacteriology, medicine, eclipsazoology, ███████, and many more. The use of SCP-4444-C instances as ‘lab rats’ has also furthered the Foundation’s understanding regarding SCPs of biological, bacterial, and viral natures. Proposals to expose SCP-4444-C instances to other SCPs for further experimentation are currently pending approval.

SCP-4444-1 has demonstrated near total control over SCP-4444-C instances, giving orders and having them received like trained pets, regardless of any prior interactions. The extent to which SCP-4444-1 is able to control SCP-4444-A-1 instances is generally negligible. When confronted with a SCP-4444-A-1 instance, SCP-4444-1 will generally react with hostility upon discovering that the organism will not obey its commands. SCP-4444-C instances will react to this implicit aggression by attacking, killing, and devouring the SCP-4444-A-1 instance(s).

When not engaging with Foundation personnel or partaking in experiments, SCP-4444-1 will follow a fairly standard routine of walking patrols around the active chambers. It will eat, play with, and converse with SCP-4444-C instances at its leisure. The treatment of SCP-4444-C instances as pets or friends by SCP-4444-1 has been observed to switch almost instantly to one of predator and prey with no signs of remorse. While walking, SCP-4444-1 will idly examine its surroundings and stop whenever it spies something of interest; usually SCP-4444-C instances eating or mating with one another.

While conversing with SCP-4444-C instances, SCP-4444-1 will explain its observations of the SCP-4444-C instance and offer suggestions for how it can improve its behavior or physiology. In 90% of cases where such advice is given, all species of that SCP-4444-C instance have been observed altering their behavior or physiology to meet the desires of SCP-4444-1 within 30 days. Where the SCP-4444-C instance does not adequately comply with SCP-4444-1’s suggestions in a timely manner, the entire species will invariably go extinct, either at the orders of SCP-4444-1 or through less direct methods.

SCP-4444-1 has thus far shown little interest in the world outside of the active biomes, save for a desire to see the remaining biomes activated. SCP-4444-1 has demonstrated anywhere between indifference to full loathing of any non-biological materials that did not originate within any of the active biomes. As a result, it is insistent on going around naked at all times. This aversion to inorganic material has made examinations of SCP-4444-1 difficult. The one exception to this rule are the █████████ uniforms, which SCP-4444-1 seems to adore, although it has refused to actually wear one when offered.

Upon becoming aware of research personnel entering any of the biomes, SCP-4444-1 will seek them out and eagerly show them a new SCP-4444-C instance that has recently come into existence. SCP-4444-1 will talk excitedly about the organism, explaining every minute detail and demonstrating an advanced knowledge of various branches of biology comparable to experts in the fields. SCP-4444-1’s behavior while interacting with Foundation researchers has led to the speculation that SCP-4444-1 viewed █████████ personnel collectively as a sort of parent. As such, SCP-4444-1 has shown a similar eagerness to please and receive attention from Foundation personnel as any well behaved child with their parents, assuming they are wearing █████████ uniforms at the time.

While personnel are wearing █████████ uniforms, SCP-4444-C instances will generally ignore or avoid them, unless ordered directly by SCP-4444-1 to do otherwise. Under SCP-4444-1’s direction, SCP-4444-C instances have been observed to passively submit to any sort of procedure and examination, regardless of previously observed behavior. SCP-4444-C instances will even allow themselves to be dismembered alive if ordered by SCP-4444-1. In such cases, while the SCP-4444-C instance may cry and thrash around in pain, it will make no effort to escape while the orders of SCP-4444-1 stand. During such cases, SCP-4444-1 can be observed watching with either impassiveness or fascination as the SCP-4444-C instance suffers, showing no empathy.

SCP-4444-1 and instances of SCP-4444-C have thus far proven incapable of distinguishing between the original █████████ uniforms and replicas created by the Foundation. The uniforms have also shown to have zero effects on SCP-4444-A-1 instances. As such, it is believed that the effects of the uniforms on SCP-4444-1 are purely psychological and that they possess no anomalous properties. With this in mind, security personnel stationed at Sites 444-1 and 444-2 are given specialized gear made to resemble █████████ uniforms as closely as possible.

Dr. Haskins has posited that the █████████ personnel may have been conducting experiments with their own equivalent of D-Class. This would account for why SCP-4444-1 has apparently been conditioned to view only personnel wearing the █████████ uniforms as people to be empathized with and protected. In all other cases where the uniforms were not present, SCP-4444-1 has shown complete indifference to all human subjects that enter its territory. See Addendum 2.

SCP-4444-2 through SCP-4444-8 are large, hexagonal chambers measuring 20m high, 20m below ground level, with each side measuring approximately 72m in length, and stretching over an area of approximately one acre each and positioned in close proximity to one another. These seven biome chambers are arranged in a hexagonal shape. The walls, ceilings, and basement floors are made of concrete and measure 2m thick, but have holes cut in various places to allow for the installment of cameras, speakers, and other security devices across the upper portions of each chamber. The main entrance to each chamber is sealed off by a standard decontamination room measuring 7m by 4m by 3m. In walls shared with other chambers, there is a doorway measuring 2m by 2m. However, these interior doorways are only opened upon biome activation. Even if a biome is deemed inactive, it may still be accessed through the decontamination rooms. Access to SCP-4444-2 without passing through any other biomes is made possible via an underground pathway that runs beneath the wall separating SCP-4444-3 and SCP-4444-4.

The concrete comprising the biomes does not appear to be anomalous in nature. However, despite the absence of any light fixtures, a sphere of light will appear beneath the ceiling in each of the active chambers. These light spheres appear to have no source and float exactly 1 foot (.3 meters) below the ceiling. Each sphere first appears in the eastern corner of the hexagon and travels across the ceiling to the western corner in a movement analogous to that of the sun in a near perfect replication of the day and night cycle. The spheres appear to operate in shifts with the brighter day sphere appearing between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. before vanishing, followed by the immediate appearance of the dimmer night sphere at 6 p.m. in the same spot as the day sphere and lasting until 6 a.m., traveling along a reverse course from the western corner to the eastern corner.

Each biome, upon activation, begins to alter the internal temperature, humidity, air pressure, lighting, and other environmental factors within the chamber, although the exact means of doing so have yet to be determined. Despite being fully enclosed and sealed off from the outside world, each active biome experiences a full range of weather phenomenon, including rain, heavy winds, snow, dust storms, and even twisters. The means by which this anomalous phenomenon is achieved is currently unknown. The floors of each chamber are covered in soil believed to have been taken from the intended biomes the chambers were meant to represent. However, this can only be confirmed in SCP-4444-2 through SCP-4444-5, as they are the only biome chambers that have been fully activated. Requests to activate the remaining chambers are currently pending approval.

SCP-4444-2 through SCP-4444-5 are self-contained biomes. These biomes have been allowed to flourish for ██ years, with security logs showing that the initial activation of SCP-4444-2 dating back since six months after the facility was officially completed. In addition to the previously mentioned effects of activation, the doors sealing off the newly active chamber from other active chambers will open.

SCP-4444-2, located at the center of the complex, resembles a tropical rainforest with rich soil taken from the Amazon Rainforest and parts of Indonesia. There is a waterfall in the northeast corner that pours crystal clear water into a large lake. The lake then feeds into a small river that winds through SCP-4444-2 until it disappears into the southwest corner. Efforts to determine where the water comes from or where it goes to have thus far proven inconclusive as both tracking equipment and other organisms will simply hit the wall. Other geographic features of note include rocks measured in a variety of sizes and arranged around SCP-4444-2 in a manner meant to maximize the chamber’s Feng Shui..

The temperatures generally range between 93 to 68 °F (34 to 20 °C) with relatively little variance between seasons. The average humidity is 85% and rainfall averages at 98in per year. Similar to naturally occurring rainforests, the plants within SCP-4444-2 hold a variety of cures to many conditions and diseases, but mostly those that have originated from SCP-4444-A. SCP-4444-2 also holds the largest variety of species compared to the other biomes.

SCP-4444-3, located to the southeast, is a taiga with soil samples from both northern Canada and Siberia. The geography of SCP-4444-3 is more hilly than SCP-4444-2 with a river running along the south and southwest walls. Efforts to follow this river have proven similarly ineffective as the river in SCP-4444-2.

The winter temperature range is -54 to -1° C (-65 to 30° F) while summers range from -7 to 21° C (20 to 70° F). The flora SCP-4444-3 instances are strong to the harsh cold with trees resembling coniferous. The fauna is equally adapted to these temperature extremes with a large variety of predator species relative to the fewer variations of prey species, although the food chain still follows the 10% energy rule of all ecosystems.

SCP-4444-4, located to the east, is a savanna with soil samples from India, Kenya, and northern Australia. The grounds in SCP-4444-4 are the most level with no significant rises or dips in the landscape. The primary source of water for SCP-4444-C instances is a small lake located along the eastern wall of the chamber. Despite the infrequency of rain within SCP-4444-4, the water levels of this lake have proven fairly consistent year-round.

The temperature averages at 70° F with little variance between seasons. Flora consists primarily of short grass with scattered clusters of shrubs and isolated trees, all of which are adapted to go for long periods of drought. SCP-4444-4 is at the highest risk of wildfires relative to the other biomes. Most fauna have adapted long legs for extended travel and will keep themselves cool either by panting or burrowing underground.

SCP-4444-5, located to the northeast, is a subtropical wetland with soil samples from Florida and experiences rain almost all year-round. Thus far, SCP-4444-5 has proven the most difficult for research staff to safely traverse, largely in part to the frequently changing landscape of the marsh. The reasons for these changes have yet to be determined, but are speculated to be a more advanced version of whatever anomalous forces have allowed the previous chambers to recreate weather phenomenon so effectively. Reliably solid islands and pathways are few and far between, which has led to the accidental deaths of ██ research personnel.

Note from Dr. Haskins: ‘Anyone wanting to visit SCP-4444-5 are advised to do so only in the company of SCP-4444-1. His ability to call upon the local fauna has proven to be the most reliable means of extracting personnel from hazardous situations.

The average temperature for SCP-4444-4 is 53° F. Rainfall averages at 60in per year. Flora consists largely of hydrophytes, including a variety of fruit baring shrubs and trees. Because of the constant presence of still water, SCP-4444-5 hosts the largest variety of aquatic based fauna compared to the other active biomes, including the largest number of reptile and amphibian species. Researchers have noted the existence of 3 distinct species of crocodilian that are nearly identical to their naturally occurring cousins that came into being almost immediately after SCP-4444-4 had adapted to handle species of that size.

SCP-4444-6, located to the northwest, is believed to be an arid desert with soil samples from Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Given that SCP-4444-6 is currently inactive, researchers can only speculate as to how the environment will ultimately take shape. Presently, the chamber is filled with mounds of sand and no determinable locations for any sources of water to reside. Temperature is determined by how the sun heats the concrete walls with none of the internal temperature controls observed in the active biomes. Likewise, none of the 3 inactive chambers experience the day-night cycles provided by the light spheres.

SCP-4444-7, located to the west, has soil samples taken from various developed countries across Europe, all of which have been heavily contaminated with various chemicals commonly associated with industrial pollution. SCP-4444-7 contains an entire town with fully furnished buildings and paved roads. The town consists of 50 buildings designed to resemble the standard architecture of the 1950s, including houses, a post office, a gas station, a general store, and several other facilities that would commonly be found in a settlement of this size. Each building is fully furnished with materials commonly seen in such buildings of that area; such as kitchens having stoves and refrigerators.

All items within SCP-4444-7 are referred to as SCP-4444-7-A and are not to be removed from SCP-4444-7 without the approval of personnel of Level 2 or higher, and only for research purposes. While there is currently no power in the town, researchers are convinced that activation of SCP-4444-7 will result in the same inexplicable generation of such; similar to what has been observed in the previously activated chambers. However, despite the current lack of power, SCP-4444-7-A perishables, such as milk, taken from various locations within the town appear to have not aged and still seem fit for consumption even after being opened. This is attributed to SCP-4444-7 emitting some sort of stasis field, but only for SCP-4444-7-A instances. SCP-4444-7-A instances removed from SCP-4444-7 will begin aging normally.

SCP-4444-8, located to the southwest, is a flatland with soils samples that do not match any known location on Earth. Analysis of samples has revealed trace amounts of ██████, ███████, SCP-████, and ████, which are not known to occur naturally. Soil from SCP-4444-8, known as SCP-4444-8-A has no compounds that are considered healthy for normal plants or fungi. To date, the only organisms that have managed to successfully grow in SCP-4444-8-A are instances of SCP-4444-C and SCP-4444-A-1. Flora SCP-4444-C and SCP-4444-A-1 instances seem to prefer SCP-4444-8-A over any other soil and have proven to be more durable under harsh environmental conditions that would otherwise result in the death of the SCP-4444-C or SCP-4444-A-1 instances.

Floral SCP-4444-C and SCP-4444-A-1 instances that are grown in SCP-4444-8-A soil are referred to SCP-4444-D for their altered properties. Consumption of SCP-4444-D can only be safely be carried out by other SCP-4444-C and SCP-4444-A-1 instances. Consumption of SCP-4444-D by any other organisms have thus far resulted in a wide range of digestive disorders, up to and including death. Animals that are not SCP-4444 instances are capable of distinguishing SCP-4444-D from other plants – but not SCP-4444-C or SCP-4444-A-1 plants – and have shown a stark reluctance in consuming SCP-4444-D, even when starving. However, carnivores and omnivores have demonstrated no such pickiness regarding prey animals that have or have not fed upon SCP-4444-D.

In Experiment SCP-4444-D-15, an SCP-4444-A-1 rabbit was given a choice between a common leaf of lettuce, a SCP-4444-A-1 leaf of lettuce, and an SCP-4444-D leaf of lettuce. In each trial, the rabbit chose the SCP-4444-D leaf to the exclusion of all others, even if it was still hungry. After which, both the rabbit and its descendants refused to consume any plant material that was not SCP-4444-D.

Log SCP-4444-1-1: Date: September ██, 2001.
Team consists of Corporal Jenkins, Private West, and D-456.
Mission: Investigate the central chamber at Site 444-1 – provisionally labeled SCP-4444-2 – and make contact with the entity observed in security footage and recently dubbed as SCP-4444-1.
Assuming the validity of documents left behind at Site 444-1 by █████████, Corporal Jenkins and Private West are only allowed standard issue fire arms. If what was written in recently decoded files was accurate, the team should be fine so long as all three of them wear the uniforms.

Mission begins at 0600 hours after passing through decontamination. D-456 complains of irritation in her eyes, but is ignored. As the team makes its way through the foliage, Control requests for descriptions of their environment.
Corporal Jenkins replies that the environment is just like any other rainforest.
Control requests elaboration.
Corporal Jenkins describes how there are animal noises all around. Chirps, tweets, growls, hisses, and things he has trouble describing. There are even more smells than there are sounds. Corporal Jenkins likens the array of odors to a flower shop situated between a candle shop and a garbage dump.
Private West adds that he thinks he can hear the voices of people, but is unable to make out any distinct words.
D-456 expresses a fear of catching “some kind of super malaria from this place,” but is ignored.
Control orders the team to continue on at a cautious pace and try to avoid needlessly agitating the local wildlife.
Team presses on; calling out each time they spot a creature or plant of particular interest. Private West spots a lizard in a tree resembling a spotted, two-headed brachiosaur. D-456 sees a flower bulb measuring roughly one meter in diameter with rainbow petals and multiple stamens resembling the ‘mouths’ of a Venus flytrap. One of these mouths snatches a flying creature after it comes too close. D-456 backs away from the plant. Private West thinks he saw some form of big cat run into the bushes, but the creature is too fast for the cameras to get a solid read on it. Stranger instances include a flower that uses roots and vines as limbs to propel itself up a tree. A bird resembling a parrot lands on a tree, only to shed all of its feathers and fall into the river below. Now resembling some sort of salamander, the former bird swims away.
Corporal Jenkins requests for the location of SCP-4444-1, which had last been seen in SCP-4444-2.
Control admits that they have currently lost track of SCP-4444-1’s location, but direct the team to the area where it had disappeared.
D-456 expresses worry that she is being watched.
Private West responds: “No shit! It’s a god damned rainforest. There’s probably a thousand little critters around us, and we’re only seeing a fraction of them.”
D-456 lets out a shriek and indicates a creature that has jumped in her path. The creature is covered in brown fur, and roughly the size and shape of a basketball. The head and body are indistinguishable from one another, with a mouth that appears to take up most of the creature’s form; no eyes, and six stubby legs allow it to scamper with surprising speed.
Private West refers to it as “A Pacman with legs.”
D-456 is frozen in fear as she stares at the creature and it appears to stare back. The creature makes sniffing noises before rushing at D-456 and biting her ankle. D-456 screams as Private West opens fire, neutralizing the creature.
A voice calls out. “Hey.”
While Private West tends to D-456’s injury, Corporal Jenkins stands guards and readies his weapon, taking aim at the source of the voice. Corporal Jenkins informs Control that he can hear something big headed their way.
Control orders Corporal Jenkins not to fire unless absolutely necessary.
Thirteen seconds later, SCP-4444-1 comes into view.
Corporal Jenkins: “Uh, Control. There’s… a naked green kid here.”
Control: “Confirmed. That is SCP-4444-1.”
SCP-4444-1 stares in silence with an expression of amazement during this exchange.
Corporal Jenkins: “You said he just looked like a kid. And why is he naked?”
Control: “Can you describe SCP-4444-1 more clearly? The foliage is too thick in that area and it’s blocking our cameras.”
Corporal Jenkins: “Something wrong with our headsets?” Corporal Jenkins touches his headset to feel for damage.
Control: “Please just tell us what you’re seeing.”
Corporal Jenkins: Nods. “Affirmative. Well, except for being a little green, he just looks like any other kid. Maybe 11 or twelve years old? No signs of injury.”
Control: “Are you able to determine any other details?”
Corporal Jenkins: “Kid is green and naked. That’s about all I can tell.”
SCP-4444-1 opens its mouth and appears to be sounding out words.
Corporal Jenkins: “I’m sorry. Could you repeat that?”
SCP-4444-1: “Are… are you with █████████?”
Control: “Say yes.”
Corporal Jenkins. “Yeah. Yeah we are.” Looks around. “Are you by yourself here?”
SCP-4444-1 smiles. However, before it can reply, D-456 gives a cry of pain.
SCP-4444-1 says “she needs help,” before rushing past Corporal Jenkins to the fallen D-456. SCP-4444-1 kneels down beside D-456 and asks her to describe the pain. Both D-456 and Private West describe her symptoms and indicate the creature that had bitten her. SCP-4444-1 nods. Corporal Jenkins attempts to inquire what SCP-4444-1 intends to do, but is ignored as SCP-4444-1 runs straight east and disappears into the underbrush. SCP-4444-1 returns forty five seconds later with an orange fruit resembling an eggplant in one hand and the bloody severed head of a reptile in the other. SCP-4444-1 says once more that “she needs help.”
Corporal Jenkins: “Hold on! Just stop a moment.” He gestures to the items currently being held by SCP-4444-1. “How exactly are those supposed to help?”
SCP-4444-1: Holds up the fruit. “She needs to suck the juices without eating the seeds. It’ll counter the venom.” Holds up the reptile head. “She needs to [Data Expunged].”
Corporal Jenkins: “Control. Requesting advisement.”
Control: “Comply with SCP-4444-1 at this time. Let’s see what happens.”
Corporal Jenkins. “Affirmative.”
Corporal Jenkins proceeds to aid SCP-4444-1 in preparing the fruit and reptile head for the prescribed treatment. As treatment is prepared, Control begins experiencing audio and visual interference from the team’s headsets. Control orders the team to respond, but they do not seem to hear. Now reliant solely on the obstructed views of the cameras within SCP-4444-2, Control witnesses a █████. Contact is reestablished 180 seconds later, with Corporal Jenkins reporting that D-456 looks to be getting better, but still looks sick.
Control orders Corporal Jenkins to end the mission and evacuate from SCP-4444-2 as quickly as possible. The team will then submit to quarantine procedures until further notice.
Corporal Jenkins accepts these orders and orders Private West to carry D-456. On their way out, SCP-4444-1 expresses hope that D-456 will get better, apologizes for the attack, and hopes that “█████████ won’t go away again.”

Researcher notes: In follow up interviews, the expedition team expressed confusion when questioned about the [Data Expunged]. Later interviews with SCP-4444-1 about this method of treatment were equally inconclusive. To date, there have only been █ incidents of similar phenomenon while SCP-4444-1 was treating an injury.

Experiment SCP-4444-C-18: D-4444-18 was introduced into SCP-4444-2 while wearing a █████████ uniform. D-4444-18 was encouraged by Control to agitate or otherwise provoke SCP-4444-C instances into a reaction. Under normal circumstances, SCP-4444-C instances would make an effort to retreat from humans wearing █████████ uniforms. Even SCP-4444-C instances that have previously been observed displaying highly aggressive behavior will be reluctant to attack. When an aggressive response was successfully provoked in the form of a bite from a venomous SCP-4444-C instance, the D-4444-18 subject is instructed by Control to cry out in pain. D-4444-18 complies. SCP-4444-1 hears the scream and runs to the site of the incident as quickly as possible. SCP-4444-1 uproots a SCP-4444-C plant and proceeds to squeeze the juice from bulbs on the root before dappling the juice to the wound. Despite describing intense pain, D-4444-18 made a full recovery exactly three minutes after the juice had been applied. After which, SCP-4444-1 gave the venomous SCP-4444-C instance a thorough scolding before gently asking D-4444-18 to be more careful.

Experiment SCP-4444-C-19: Four D-Class personnel were sent into SCP-4444-2 without █████████ uniforms and instructed to walk around. The behavior of SCP-4444-C instances was entirely unaltered from what had previously been observed as normal. SCP-4444-C instance reacted aggressively to intrusions into their territory, attacking the D-Class subjects. After fifteen minutes, various insects began biting at the D-Class subjects’ exposed skin, attempting to either bury themselves under the skin or drink from their blood. When the D-Class subjects cry out in pain, SCP-4444-1 quickly rushes over to investigate. However, upon seeing that the D-Class subjects are not wearing █████████ uniforms, it regards the D-Class subjects for exactly thirty seconds before sitting down on a nearby rock to watch. Infuriated by this reaction, one of the D-Class attempts to attack SCP-4444-1. However, this only results in virtually every SCP-4444-C instance within a 30m radius, including the herbivores, attacking the D-Class.

SCP-4444-1 continues to watch for several hours as the bodies of the D-Class were fully consumed. After which, the remaining bones and tattered clothing were taken by SCP-4444-C instances, primarily as nest building material. Only once there was no trace left of the D-Class personnel did SCP-4444-1 get up from the rock and continue on its normal patrols.

Research personnel found this behavior in SCP-4444-1 disturbing, likening it to how children who tormented small animals when young were known to grow up to be serial killers.

Experiment SCP-4444-A-1-26: Subject is D-4444-26, male, 26 years of age, Hispanic.

After being injected with a sample of SCP-4444-A and showing no symptoms of illness, D-4444-26 is taken for medical examination and confirmed to be a SCP-4444-A-1 instance. Subject is brought to Site 444-1 and held in a cell for 48 hours to allow sufficient exposure to SCP-4444-B. During this time, no changes in D-4444-26’s behavior or physiology are observed. D-4444-26 is introduced into SCP-4444-2 wearing only a standard D-Class uniform, one standard wireless headset and camera mounted to Subject’s head.

Subject is told to begin exploring. Subject complies, moving about the biome without direction for roughly one hour. Ambient animal noises are heard. Control requests Subject to describe his environment. Subject complains of the smell, humidity, and abundance of ‘mosquitoes’. Subject is growing irritable. Encounters with SCP-4444-C instances are brief and otherwise uneventful.

Control orders Subject move to the center of the biome and offers direction when requested. Subject complies. 10 minutes later, Subject informs Control that both pinkie fingers have fallen off. Subject shows no signs of alarm or confusion as he proceeds to remove his shoes, discovering that both pinkie toes have also fallen off. Control requests that Subject hold up his hands for examination. The shape of the hands has been altered, leaving no trace that anything has been lost. Animals are seen running off with the missing digits.

At request from Control, Subject begins describing how he is feeling. Subject is feeling an abundance of energy, which he likens to a sugar rush. Subject begins moving at a quickened pace, weaving between the trees. Subject comes to a stop after encountering an SCP-4444-C instance. The instance is approximately 1.3m tall, with a thin torso, four legs with four joints each, four eyes, a mouth that opens up like a blooming flower and filled with razor sharp teeth, and a tail-like limb growing from the top of the head with three claws at the end. The instance growls and displays other gestures suggesting aggressive behavior. Control orders Subject to retreat, but he refuses.

Subject lunges for the instance and the camera footage is shaky. Cameras within SCP-4444-2 are obstructed by foliage and unable to see what happens. Once the camera is finally steady again, Subject is looking down at the dead instance. Subject asks if Control is impressed, indifferent to Control’s protest. After being reminded of what happens to D-Class that are uncooperative, Subject agrees to comply and moves to an area where cameras within SCP-4444-2 are able to observe him.

Subject’s uniform is in tatters and the shoes are missing. Camera appears to be undamaged and footage is still coming in clear. Subject appears to have grown several inches in height and is now missing both ring fingers, the hands appearing to have undergone a similar mutation as before. Subject smiles up at the camera, and Control is able to make out that his teeth appear to have grown an inch long.

When Control confirms the location of SCP-4444-1 in SCP-4444-3, Subject is instructed to move to SCP-4444-5. Subject is allowed to explore at his own leisure once more and chatter resumes regarding environmental observations. Control asks if subject is still being bothered by biting insects, to which he denies, saying they haven’t been biting in a while. Subject spies a large creature moving through a body of water, which he describes as resembling a crocodile. Subject asks to go investigate, but is denied by control.

At the 4 hour mark, Control makes note that this is the longest any human has survived in the active biomes while not wearing the █████████ uniforms. This is also the longest any human within the active biomes has gone without being noticed by SCP-4444-1.

Subject sees a plant that appears to be producing berries and expresses an interest in trying one. Control warns that there is a high probability that the berries may be poisonous, but Subject consumes them anyway. Berries are described as tasting like oranges as Subject picks the plant clean. No adverse effects are observed.

Subject is directed to move towards a tree of unusual height. While moving, Subject is observed to be walking in an unusual manner, lifting his knees unnecessarily high. Subject’s pants slip off and are discarded, revealing to Control the beginnings of second joints in the legs located just below the knee. Control asks Subject to confirm what they are seeing. Subject confirms, but sounds content and accepting of the change.

[DATA CORRUPTION]

10 hours into the experiment and Subject’s rate of mutation has far surpassed any previously observed instance of SCP-4444-A-1 or SCP-4444-C. Subject is now 3m tall with pitch black fur, facial features resembling a gorilla with an under bite, no eyes, disproportionately long legs and arms ending in clawed appendages, three thick horns coming out of the skull, and a row of sharp spines along the back. Subject is no longer responding to orders from Control and has been continuously hunting and consuming SCP-4444-C instances for the last three hours.

It is at this time, while in SCP-4444-3 that Subject encounters SCP-4444-1 for the first time since the experiment began. SCP-4444-1 reacts with alarm, ordering Subject to die. Subject ignores the order, grinning as it takes a step towards SCP-4444-1. SCP-4444-1 issues the ‘die’ order again, much louder than before. This prompts all SCP-4444-C instances within earshot to come forth and attack the Subject. When Subject proves resistant to the attacks, easily killing most instances that come within reach, SCP-4444-1 runs away. Subject gives chase.

Security Team Bravo is dispatched into SCP-4444-3 with orders to terminate Subject. Contact is made and Subject proves resistant to small arms fire. It was later learned that the Subject had, at some point, developed a thick exoskeleton beneath its fur. Bravo switches to armor piercing and explosive rounds, which prove more effective. Subject was finally brought down after 10 minutes of fighting. Team Bravo lost ██ members in the process.

Log SCP-4444-5-1:

Activation of SCP-4444-5, ██/██/██

By approval of O5-█.

Activation of SCP-4444-5 began at exactly 0600 hours. Activation sequence is carried out using the instructions left behind by █████████. Additionally, a termination circuit is installed within the primary control panel. All personnel are evacuated from SCP-4444-5 until the activation is declared complete or terminated. 4 backup generators are brought in and installed in anticipation of an increase in power usage.

System monitors show a 67% spike in power consumption as soon as activation sequence begins. Dr. █████ orders the procedure to continue. SCP-4444-1 is not informed.

Surveillance equipment within SCP-4444-5 begins experiencing technical errors. Monitoring personnel claim to see odd shapes in the security footage, although it is unclear if this is merely static. Dr. █████ orders the procedure to continue.

There is still no evidence of environmental changes within SCP-4444-5 by 0900 hours, yet the biome is drawing power at an increasing rate of 3.67% every half hour. SCP-4444-1 is spotted within SCP-4444-2 and has yet to take notice.

The doors separating SCP-4444-5 from SCP-4444-4 and SCP-4444-2 are unlocked at 1200 hours. Power consumption increases at a rate of 12.34% every half hour.

At 1230 hours, SCP-4444-1 jumps to its feet as if alarmed and begins surveying the immediate area. SCP-4444-1 then faces SCP-4444-5, grins, and begins running to the northeast at an estimated speed of [REDACTED].

SCP-4444-1 arrives in SCP-4444-5 and begins looking around in what Dr. Haskins describes as ‘childlike wonder’. However, the technical issues with monitoring equipment worsen. Power consumption increases to a rate of 15% every 10 minutes. Dr. █████ orders the activation of the termination circuit, but it is unresponsive. (A follow-up examination revealed that a localized heat spike around the circuit had caused it to melt. This heat spike did not damage any other systems, nor was any similar phenomenon observed anywhere else in the facility. However, review of power consumption showed that the generators experienced a 44% increase at approximately the same time as the heat spike. This sudden increase lasted 0.2 seconds before power consumption returned to previous rates.)

While footage remains inconsistent and spotty, closer examination reveals several sightings of SCP-4444-1 diving into pools around the chamber. Little time is spent in each pool before SCP-4444-1 climbs out of one and finds another. There are several instances where SCP-4444-1 appears to be glowing, but this cannot be verified. Dr. █████ refuses proposal to send D-Class personnel for the purposes of verbally relaying observations.

Power consumption begins to rapidly decline at 1730 hours, stabilizing at 1800 hours. Security footage has also stabilized with monitoring equipment no longer displaying anomalous readings.

Dr. █████ orders a security team to enter at 1830 hours. Team reports the presence of a light sphere floating beneath the ceiling, the brightness of which is confirmed to match the night sphere. SCP-4444-1 is found asleep, curled up in a bed of algae along the banks of one of the lakes. Similar clusters of algae are observed in each body of water, moving with the waves caused by indeterminable sources. Team is ordered to retreat.

At 0600 hours the following day, SCP-4444-1 awakens to find that the algae has already evolved into various species of moss and aquatic plants. The latter is also home to at least 4 species of fauna little bigger than tadpoles.

Researchers make notes regarding the growing diversification of the budding ecosystem. SCP-4444-1 has primarily relegated itself to observation and makes only occasional suggestions to the new SCP-4444-C instances.

Experiment is declared concluded 10 days following the activation of SCP-4444-5. While observations and other studies would continue indefinitely, Dr. █████ decided there was simply nothing else to learn regarding the specifics of chamber activation.

In a follow up interview with SCP-4444-1, Dr. █████ learned that SCP-4444-1 had developed a new understanding of wetlands related organisms that it did not previously possess. Further examination revealed that SCP-4444-1 had grown 1in taller and appeared to be developing an Adams apple. Researchers believe that the activation of the new biome had caused SCP-4444-1to grow in physical maturity and have theorized that the activation of the remaining chambers will yield similar results.

Addendum 1: Following Incident ████, all staff are to be informed that instances of SCP-4444-A, SCP-4444-A-1, SCP-4444-C, or any other SCP-4444 instances that turn up down the road are not to be used as sexual aids, no matter how much they might resemble sex toys. No. Just… No!

Addendum 2: Following Incident 4444-3-2, D-Class – or any other personnel for that matter – that have previously been witnessed by SCP-4444-1 while wearing █████████ uniforms are forbidden from reentering any of the biomes while wearing anything else. SCP-4444-1 exhibited intense emotional distress upon witnesses what has been theorized as a stark contradiction to its worldview and remained inconsolable for 76 hours. ██ security personnel and X researchers were injured, although there were no fatalities. It was only after Dr. Haskins spent 33 hours reassuring SCP-4444-1 that all was well (with minimal time spent on sleep and smooth jazz played over the intercoms) that it allowed the doctor to safely enter SCP-4444-2. Dr. Haskins explained that what SCP-4444-1 witnessed was a mistake and that such a thing will never happen again.
