Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in an isolated chamber no larger than one (1) meter cubed with its own isolated air conditioning and humidity management unit to prevent damage to the device. The entirety of its containment chamber is to be encased in a Faraday cage and SCP-XXXX is to be monitored and recorded with unbroken video surveillance at all times to prevent manifestation of its anomalous affects, informational leaks due to those affects, and tampering with SCP-XXXX. Clearance level three (3) or approval of on-site management staff of clearance level three (3) is required for testing, and SCP-XXXX is not to be used in any tactical setting.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a set of ████-brand military night vision goggles, but with a noticeable amount of dials, extra lenses, and switches on the device. When first activated, it behaves identically to any other set of night vision goggles of the same brand, but changing the position of any of the modifications to the original device will cause SCP-XXXX to vary in function. Restoring these modifications to their previous state is not guaranteed to restore their previous function, though this is often the case. The device appears to not have nor require a power source, as the device functions identically whether or not the battery slot on SCP-XXXX is supplied with power.

A wide variety of settings have been displayed during testing, including but not limited to:

• Seeing wavelengths not usually received by radio equipment of the device's size and otherwise impossible to display visually,
• Seeing the vital signs of individuals through multiple walls and floors,
• Displaying reconstructions of nearby individual's thought processes in a visual or audio format,
• and magnification levels exceeding the power of all current non-anomalous magnification equipment.

If the device is left undisturbed and not monitored for a period of at least thirty (30) minutes, a second of the device's anomalous properties will manifest. During this time, the modifications on SCP-XXXX's original form will seemingly appear, disappear, or shift in location.¹ The new state of the device will result in a new set of functions. Once sight or recording of SCP-XXXX is re-established, the device will cease all movements and reset to its deactivated state.

+ SCP-XXXX - Testing Log A

Note: SCP-XXXX was left unmonitored for a period of exactly one (1) hour prior to each test to allow scrambling of its functions unless otherwise stated.

Test XXXX-A1 - February 14, 20██

Subject: D-9571
Procedure: Subject instructed to enter chamber, activate and equip the device, and proceed to change the state of one switch on the device by one setting. Subject then instructed to describe visuals.
Results: D-9571 entered chamber, activated device, and changed switch without incident. Subject described visuals as similar to "ripples in a pond in three dimensions" and complained of a light headache while using SCP-XXXX. Further inquiry identified the visualizations as Foundation-wavelength radio transmissions from nearby handheld radios. D-9571 issued minimal dose of Class-A amnestics for security and returned to normal testing.
Analysis: SCP-XXXX appears to be able to interpret otherwise impossible-to-see phenomena and display them to the user, bypassing mental comprehension boundaries. Further testing require to distinguish if SCP-XXXX shows the direct visual state of a frequency or a representation.

Test XXXX-A2 - February 17, 20██

Subject: D-6827
Procedure: Identical to test A1, with the exception of the subject being instructed to change the state of one (1) switch by one (1) setting and turn one (1) dial by one (1) setting. Subject then instructed to describe visuals.
Results: D-6827 entered chamber, activated device, and changed switch without incident. Subject reacted with momentary fascination and unresponsiveness before describing visuals. Subject reported seeing a humanoid outline through the chamber monitoring window before turning the dial and a number of canine outlines through a nearby wall after turning the dial. Canine outlines later identified as multiple Foundation K-9 units in a nearby kennel. D-6827 administered a minimal dose of Class-A amnestics for security and returned to duty.
Analysis: While the controls of SCP-XXXX hold no consistent function, the different types of controls seem to hold consistent functions relative to each other, with dials acting as sub-function selectors to the main functions selected by dials. Additional security measures regarding SCP-XXXX tests also considered due to possible information leaks caused by SCP-XXXX.

+ SCP-XXXX - Testing Log B

Test B1 - January 4, 20██

Subject: D-1258
Procedure: Subject instructed to enter chamber, enable and equip SCP-XXXX, and switch one (1) switch by two (2) settings. Subject then instructed to describe visuals. Properly-sized dosage of Class-A amnestics in a gaseous form attached by valve to the testing chamber's air supply and ready to be administered.
Results: D-1258 immediately reported a hissing sound upon entering the testing chamber. Sound identified as a small leak in the room's ventilation system caused by earlier modifications involved with implementing the amnestics tank to the chamber's ventilation system. Test cleared to continue after review and D-1258 instructed to continue with procedure. Subject continued procedure without further incident and described resulting visuals as a massive network of gray tunnels throughout the entire facility resembling a large metal frame. Network later verified to match the ventilation network of Site-██. D-1258 issued minimal dose of amnestics after testing and returned to duty.
Analysis: The surroundings which SCP-XXXX is contained in during its period of change seem to have an affect on the resulting settings, allowing the device to "learn" through currently unidentified means. Further testing required to identify the exact affects and limitations of SCP-XXXX's learning capabilities.

Test B2 - January 5, 20██

Subjects: D-7348, D-4921

Procedure: During SCP-XXXX's one (1) hour scrambling period, images and audio clips of D-4921 were played into the field of vision of its lenses. To prevent any other outside influence, the test was conducted entirely inside a testing chamber installed with its own specific sealed ventilation block and encased entirely in a metal shell acting as a Faraday cage. D-7348, who had no relation to or knowledge of D-4921, was instructed to enter the testing chamber, enable and equip SCP-XXXX, and turn one (1) switch by one (1) setting followed by a separate dial one (1) setting at a time until every setting of the dial was exhausted, describing the visuals of each setting. D-4921 was sealed inside a separate isolated testing chamber during the entire procedure.

Results: D-7348 entered chamber, enabled and equipped SCP-XXXX, and turned the switch without incident. With only the switch activated, the vital signs and running organs of D-4921 were seen visibly through the isolated testing chamber walls and Faraday cage. Functions described as the dial was turned to different settings include:

• Each of D-4921's separate organ systems made separately visible
• D-4921's though processes recreated in visual format
• The probable location of birth of D-4921 and the probable current locations of D-4921's parents, updated in real time
• The presumable last location of D-4921's only sibling, identified as deceased after testing

Both D-7348 and D-4921 were issued Class-A amnestics for privacy and security and were returned to duty.

Analysis: The ability of SCP-XXXX to identify and isolate information far beyond what is given during its period of shifting and change suggest some form of database through which it can search for information to display. The examples of the subject given to SCP-XXXX during its period of change seem to act as a "keyword" which is entered into the database, and all information related to the subject is recovered from the database and displayed through SCP-XXXX. Further testing is required to confirm this hypothesis and identify the limits, should any exist, to SCP-XXXX's information.
