Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid Keter

Special Containment Procedures: All instances of SCP-XXXX are to be contained on Site-81. Only fifteen instances of SCP-XXXX-A may be held in cold storage at any given time. Any testing with SCP-XXXX should be authorized by Researcher ██████. Under no circumstances should SCP-XXXX be brought into the vicinity of designated cooking areas as to prevent SCP-XXXX-A breaches. In the occurrence of a breach all personnel infected by SCP-XXXX are to report to the medical bay for immediate removal of SCP-XXXX-A. Civilians infected with SCP-XXXX are to be given cover up stories and quarantined until they expire, upon which their corpses are to be incinerated. Witnesses are to be administered class A-C amnestics based on exposure to the victim. Any new instances SCP-XXXX found are to be incinerated.

Description: SCP-XXXX was discovered in ██████, Indiana on November 25, 1983. After a transmission was intercepted describing "people wandering in a corn field" and a investigative foundation agent was dispatched. All witnesses were administered amnestics and the victims were detained for study. Since initial discovery ██ instances of SCP-XXXX-B have been found in other locations within the Midwest United States. On several occasions instances of SCP-XXXX have been discovered nearby known Sarkic Cults. It is currently hypothesized that SCP-XXXX is of Granola-Sarkic origin. Locating SCP-XXXX instances is to be considered high priority as to prevent circulation of SCP-XXXX-A into the public. Reclassified as Keter1.

SCP-XXXX-A has a genetic makeup similar to Ixodes scapularis2. SCP-XXXX-A is yellow-white in color and is roughly the same shape and size of a Zea maize3 kernel. SCP-XXXX-A is able to change it's malleability and texture at will, and exhibits hive mind characteristics mimicking that of surrounding corn or SCP-XXXX-A instances. SCP-XXXX-A is devoid of appendages, save for a small pincer at the end of the narrow portion of it's body. SCP-XXXX-A is highly resistant to most forms of damage, this includes temperatures of up to 200° and below -60° Celsius, and force up to 225 kilograms. However SCP-XXXX can be sliced or pierced using minimal effort. SCP-XXXX-A can remain dormant indefinitely until consumed by a mammal. Stages of SCP-XXXX-A infection can be found in the addendum. Upon being consumed by a mammal SCP-XXXX will latch onto the subject's esophagus, stomach lining, or large intestine where it will begin consuming blood and releasing anomalous compound Δ-6128 into the body. Exposure to Δ-6128 causes the subject to drawn to corn fields when unconscious or sleeping through means of sleep walking, how Δ-6128 does this is currently unknown. While feeding SCP-XXXX will begin to grow small tendrils which will attach themselves to the victim's heart and arteries to draw blood. Once attached to the heart and arteries SCP-XXXX-A will undergo a metamorphose stage where it's outer skin will break and a SCP-XXXX-B will surface.

SCP-XXXX-B will grow up to as much 5 meters tall and is similar in appearance to the stalk of Zea maize however it has noticeable veins within it in which human blood with high contents of glucose flow. Large pod like structures sprout off of the sides of SCP-XXXX-B. Inside these pods SCP-XXXX-A grow attached to rods made of an unknown tissue similar to bone. Instances of SCP-XXXX-B will emerge from the rib cage or stomach of victims infected with SCP-XXXX-A upon reaching an adequate field of corn. If infection of SCP-XXXX-A occurs before the point of which Zea Maize begins growing and it has reached a field it deems suitable, it will remain dormant until plants around it begin growing. Depending on the time of infection growth rate can vary from 3-4 centimeters a day to 2-3 meters. This accelerated growing will occur until it reaches maturity or reaches a similar height of the surrounding corn.
