Item #: SCP-XXXX-J

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX-J is to be contained in a Standard Safe Containment Chamber at Site-76. Closed-circuit television cameras are to be installed in the chamber as per typical Safe Containment Chamber layout; a secondary camera with separate battery power source and storage disk is to be installed, in case of main power or storage failure.

The containment contraption for SCP-XXXX-J comprises the following layers, from inside out:

  • Two (2) miniature Scranton Reality Anchors, powered by a standard issue Field Equipment Battery Pack
  • A Faraday cage, made of a suitable material; currently a cardboard cookie box lined with aluminium foil
  • A sheet of paper with commonly used counter-antimeme thaumaturgical glyphs printed on both sides, folded into a dome shape covering the Faraday cage and SCP-XXXX-J. Currently an A3 size printer paper is in used; a more durable material might be used for future improvement
  • A standard issue Telekill lined helmet

No component of the containment contraption might be removed without permission from a Senior Researcher for experimentation purposes.

Description: SCP-XXXX-J is an object of unknown physical properties (see Emergency Notice XXXX-J-20) which exhibit several anomalous properties. Currently known anomalous properties include:

  • Spontaneous instantaneous translocation
  • Intermittent emission of electromagnetic waves. The purpose of these emissions are currently unknown
  • Inherent antimemetic effect, occasionally preventing personnel to perceive it
  • Telepathic ability, which occasionally causes anger and/or violent tendencies in persons nearby

Discovery: SCP-XXXX-J was discovered on 28 February, 2020, contained inside the current contraption, on a coffee table inside Staff Recreation Room 2-C in Site-76. The table and SCP-XXXX-J was moved to the current containment chamber on site. A note detailing the containment procedure and a brief description of SCP-XXXX-J's anomalous properties was attached to the table.

Excerpt from note found together with SCP-XXXX-J:

DO NOT REMOVE - POTENTIAL ANOMALOUS OBJECT

Sorry for the makeshift setup, but I had to put this together fast. It's hard to set this up with one hand while clenching tight to this thing, if I leave it alone for a moment, it will disappear to god knows where. Y'all figure this out and contain it properly.

Surveillance footage shows on 28 February, at 5:32 A.M.,Agent Dā–ˆā–ˆā–ˆ Peterson carried the contraption containing SCP-XXXX-J into Break Room 2-C, and placed it on a coffee table together with the aforementioned note. Agent Peterson was deployed to an undercover mission on 28 February at 7:00 A.M., with a no-contact policy, and therefore he could not be reached for questioning regarding SCP-XXXX-J. More information regarding SCP-XXXX-J may be updated once Agent Peterson returns from duty in approximately 3 months.

[Author's note: I might add some stuff here before this log]

Addendum XXXX-J-1

On 02 March 2020, an experiment was approved by Senior Researcher Cortez, to determine the physical and anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX-J.

Researcher Wu was tasked with removing SCP-XXXX-J from the current containment contraption, place it inside the Experimental Mobile Container, and transport it to Lab 8-E. The Experimental Mobile Container was modeled after the layers of current contraption. For safety reasons, Researcher Wu was issued a pair of lead lined gloves, and a standard issue Telekill lined helmet.

Incident transcript

At 10:05 A.M., Reseacher Wu entered the containment chamber, and began disassembling the contraption around SCP-XXXX-J. Immediately after the makeshift Faraday cage was removed, he picked up SCP-XXXX-J and placed it aside the components.

Researcher Wu broke visual contact SCP-XXXX-J for a short moment, as he reached into his backpack to retrieve the Experimental Mobile Container. When Researcher Wu looked at the table again, SCP-XXXX-J has disappeared.

A search of the chamber found no trace of SCP-XXXX-J. Surveillance footage was not useful, as Researcher Wu was obstructing the line of sight from the camera to SCP-XXXX-J. SCP-XXXX-J was not found on Researcher Wu's body, or in any of his personal belongings. Researcher Wu denied accusations of attempting to steal SCP-XXXX-J. Wu is currently detained while awaiting further investigation.

Emergency Notice XXXX-J-20

To: All Site-76 Personnel
From: Researcher R. Cortez
Subject: SCP-XXXX-J CONTAINMENT BREACH
[This message is sent with high importance]

SCP-XXXX-J has escaped containment on 02/03/2020. SCP-XXXX-J resembles a silver colored Panasonic brand remote control, with missing battery slot cover and replaced by a strip of duct tape.

Any staff who finds SCP-XXXX-J is to report immediately to Researcher R.Cortez, and to not break visual contact with it until the situation is handled.
