Item #: SCP-4827
Object Class: Euclid Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4827 is to be kept in a sealed, padded container and stored in a secured locker in Area-██. Any testing of SCP-4827 is to be overseen by a researcher of Level 2 clearance or higher. Any locomotion of SCP-4827's moving parts is to be ceased using industrial-grade clamps when testing has ceased. In the event of outside influence causing locomotion of SCP-4827's moving parts, researchers are to cease testing immediately and return SCP-4827 to its container using clamps provided.
No outside audio devices are to be allowed into a test chamber with SCP-4827 present unless authorized by staff of Level 3 clearance or higher. Any audio files used in conjunction with SCP-4827 must be pre-approved by Level 3 staff. Any unauthorized audio use will result in reprimands dependent on the severity of breach of protocol. (See Addendum A4827-35)
Description: SCP-4827 is a plastic figurine, measuring approximately 9.52 cm tall, designed to resemble a caricature of a female Hawaiian hula dancer. At the waste of the figurine, its hips are attached to a small rotating mechanism, allowing the figurine to give the illusion of dancing via gyration when acted upon by outside force. Similar models are commonly found as "kitsch" novelties sold in tourist-oriented stores.
When locomotion of SCP-4827's moving parts begins, subjects that make visual contact with SCP-4827 or any subject under its effects for 4.47 seconds will begin to perform a similar gyration, moving their hips in small circles. Subjects are still able to move their legs and other portions of their bodies at will, and are cognitively aware of the effect SCP-4827 has on their motor control. Remaining in a seated position will not cease the effect of SCP-4827. Subsequently, any subject to make visual contact with the initial subject of SCP-4287's effect will mimic this behavior. While compulsive, this effect is innocuous and can be easily ceased by halting movement of SCP-4827's parts with standard human levels of exertion.
SCP-4827's secondary effect begins when SCP-4827 is exposed to music, beginning what will be referred to its exposure phase. During exposure phase, the locomotion of 4827's parts will move to match the tempo and beat of the song it is currently being exposed to, and will begin to move in more erratic patterns, rather than the standard constant circular motion during its pre-exposure effect.
During exposure phase, SCP-4827's locomotion becomes incredibly difficult to cease via normal exerted force, requiring approximately 170 psi to cease movement. This becomes even more difficult when combined with SCP-4827's erratic movements, as coordination of a subject's limbs will typically be effected as well. SCP-4827's locomotion will continue in its exposed phase until audio exposure is ceased, at which point it will return to pre-exposed condition, and locomotion can be halted with standard force.
Subjects exposed to SCP-4827 will continue to move in conjunction with SCP-4827 until its cessation or until subjects are unable to maintain consciousness due to fatigue, injury, or death. (See 4827 Test Log for details). Subjects influenced by SCP-4827 are not limited to humans, as canine, feline, simian, and avian subjects have also been observed to be controlled by SCP-4827's effect. Viewing those effected by SCP-4827 via secondary means, such as via reflection in mirrors or over video equipment, will not cause movement in the observer
Retrieval: SCP-4827 was recovered in ██████, TX in 20██ after medical assistance was requested following the entirety of the staff and customer base of ██████ Fitness being discovered either unconscious or in severe physical distress. SCP-4827 was found inside of an aerobics classroom, having ceased locomotion naturally. Interviews with the subjects closest to the source of the event claim that aerobics instructor K████ ████ brought the figurine out from her bag, and instructed the exercise class to follow its movements as a range-of-motion exercise. When K████ initiated a CD on the stereo system inside the room, SCP-4827's exposure phase began, causing the class to be unable to cease movement. It is believed that, due to the potentially virulent nature of SCP-4827's effect, SCP-4827's influence soon spread outside of the classroom, and to the entire gym. Examination of the CD recovered from the aerobics classroom revealed that the CD, which was a burned mix of two dozen popular songs, lasted 1 hour and 23 minutes.
Initial classification of SCP-4827 was listed as Euclid upon retrieval due to the virulent nature of exposure. After testing however, SCP-4827 is to be considered Safe, as its locomotion is easily stopped by normal means during pre-exposure phase, and exposure phase ceases after the muting of the emitting audio source.
Test Log:
Test Subject: D-7736
Audio: None
Duration: 3 minutes, 45 seconds
Result: standard movement, no abnormalities reported by test subject
Test Subject: D-7748
Audio: Groove is of the Heart by Deee-Lite
Duration: 4 minutes, 23 seconds
Result: semi-rapid swaying back and forth in smooth clockwise/counterclockwise motions, including stops and gyrations in time with music. Subject reports feeling "pretty okay" after exposure is ceased.
Test Subject: D-7753
Audio: Kiss from a Rose by Seal
Duration: 3 minutes, 38 seconds
Result: slow circular swaying in time with the backing track, picking up with rapid sways back and forth matching vocals during chorus. Subject reports discomfort moving from slow to fast motion abruptly.
Test Subject: D-7759
Audio: Treasure by Bruno Mars
Duration: 3 minutes, 5 seconds

Test Subject: D-77██
Audio: Farewell, Mona Lisa by Derringer Escape Plan
Duration: Audio paused after 35 seconds, remote halt of locomotion triggered after 50 seconds
Result: extremely rapid swings and gyration in erratic patterns. Subjects hips dislocated after 33 seconds, at which point D-77██ fell onto their back with loud vocalizations of pain. Video review reveals that subject's waist was still moving with SCP-4827's pre-exposure state while on their back after audio was muted, and continued until D-77██ was rendered unconscious due to pain at 46 seconds.
Test Subject: canine (Labrador retriever, supplied by Researcher Erhardt)
Audio: none
Duration: 1 minute, 25 seconds
Result: visible swaying of hind section of subject, experiment concluded after observations noted. Subject returned to Researcher Erhardt without incident.
Test Subject: feline (Russian short-hair, supplied by Researcher Norris)
Audio: none
Duration 35 seconds
Result: visible swaying of hind section, similar to canine testing. Experiment concluded when subject began vocalizing discomfort. Subject returned to Researcher Norris irritable, but otherwise without incident.
Test Subject: reptilian (ball python, supplied by Dr. Werner)

Note from Researcher Erhardt: SCP-4827 does not appear to effect reptilian subjects. Cause of this immunity is unknown. There goes plans on testing it on SCP-682.
Addendum:
Addendum A4827-35: Agent ██████ has been reprimanded for unauthorized use of an SCP object, unauthorized use of a test chamber, and deliberate endangerment of SCP staff. At 8:45 PM on 7/27/201█, Agent ██████ led Junior Agent ████ to SCP-4827's testing chamber. At which point, Agent ██████ began locomotion of SCP-4827 and informed Junior Agent ████ to observe SCP- 4827. Agent ██████ then exited the chamber and took position inside the chamber's observation booth. After activating the room's speaker system, Agent ██████ began to play It's Not Unusual by Tom Jones into the chamber. Junior Agent ████ can be seen swaying rapidly in-time with the music, until at 1 minute, 45 seconds Junior Agent ████ is observed to have had their left hip dislocate out of socket due to the rapid pace of SCP-4827's swinging motions. Agent ██████ has gone on record as claiming it was simply meant to be an act of hazing, and did not intend for Junior Agent ████ to get hurt.
Agent ██████ has been relocated to observation and agricultural maintenance duty for SCP-097 until further notice
