| The Front of SCP-3673 |
Item #: SCP-3673
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-3673 is to be contained within a lockbox made from a titanium-chromium alloy. The lockbox must be surrounded, 2-6 inches from its exterior, within a pure tungsten cage that can be remotely electrified by a power source separate from the rest of the site’s power grid. The separate power source should be able to deliver a lethal voltage of electricity for at least 6 hours before shutting off. This caged-lockbox is to be contained within item containment cell #7 within site-██. The containment cell must have a single entrance, which can be shut, locked, and the cage electrified in the event of a site-wide lockdown. The containment cell entrance must always be guarded by at least 2 armed guards, except in the case of a site-wide lockdown. The lockbox containing SCP-3673 is to be locked with a steel alloy eight-digit combination lock whose password is to be known only by Foundation Personnel: Dr. Zoe ███████, [TERMINATED], O5-█, Junior Researcher Erik █████, and Senior Researcher Nick ███████.
Only if one or more of these members is confirmed dead, can foundation personnel of equal or greater clearance be granted access to the lockbox combination code to take their place. Any personnel who are going to be granted the code must undergo a full psychiatric evaluation and approved mentally stable, and adequately loyal to the foundation by at least 2 Senior Medical Officers. [CONTAINMENT DATA EXPUNGED]
Containment Procedures have been modified as of 6/13/20██ due to incident 3673-S (See addendum 3673-A).
By order of the O5 Council, regular access to SCP-3673’s containment cell is limited to maintenance purposes only, under the surveillance of at least two armed guards. Access to SCP-3673’s containment cell for testing or observational purposes must be approved by at least two O5 Personnel & Senior Researcher Nick ███████. It is strictly prohibited, under any circumstances, for anyone other than Class D- Personnel to initiate a transaction using SCP-3673, due to its memetic affects. It is also prohibited for Class-D Personnel to be used to purchase items to benefit the Foundation unless O5-Order: Ploutos has been activated. (See addendum O-3673).
Description: SCP-3673 is a Black Credit Card measuring 85.6mm wide, 54mm long and 0.76 mm thick, and weighing 5.07 Grams. There are no physically or chemically anomalous properties of SCP-3673 that would make it distinguishable from a regular ATM Card, besides the atypicality of the numbers on the front. The card itself is made of standard PVCA plastic. Indented on the front of the card is the Credit Card number: ████ ████ ████ 3673, the EXP. (Assumed to be the Expiration date): 1/∞, and a string of numbers between the former and latter, that reads: 541222415241. At the bottom-front of the card is the name of SCP-3673-1, or the “Cardholder” per say. On the Top-front, there is an unidentified logo. The logo is described by research personnel to look like “[DATA EXPUNGED]”. Years of research has resulted in no information on the origins of the logo. It is also unknown the importance of the Expiration Date or the random string of numbers on the front. On the reverse side of the card is a black mag-stripe, and the CVC number, ███, located directly in the center. SCP-3673 has 5 currently discovered anomalous properties.
1. SCP-3673 cannot be traced to any bank or checking/savings/etc. account. This should render SCP-3673’s 2nd property impossible, since it is only a credit card, which merely draws wealth from a holding account to be transferred to another account. It is unknown if SCP-3673 is withdrawing money from a bank account, or if there is any bank account linked to it at all. A multitude of banks, including [DATA EXPUNGED], were confronted about SCP-3673, however none took responsibility for its creation and had no records of transactions made with it.
2. SCP-3673 can be used to make any transaction, of any currency, to any account, no matter the monetary value being deducted from SCP-3673’s “Account”, or how much has been previously deducted. In short, until evidence shows disproof of this, SCP-3673 is considered to have an infinite amount of currency available to spend in any transaction withdrawing from its “account” (See Experiment Log 3673-B). When a transfer of money from an account to SCP-3673 was attempted, the transfer was declined.
3. Despite having the exact chemical composition of PVCA plastic, SCP-3673 is completely indestructible, and has resisted all forms of chemical and physical damage that the foundation can possibly induce. (See Addendum 3673-C)
4. Whenever a human (here-on referred to as SCP-3673-1) first initiates a transaction using SCP-3673, the name indented onto the card will, over the course of 2-17 minutes, “morph” into an indentation of SCP-3673-1’s name. Regardless of what name SCP-3673-1 may have listed elsewhere (Listing a fake name or a pseudonym on a pre-transaction information form or contract for example), the card’s name will always morph into the first and last legal name of SCP-3673-1. After making the first transaction, if left unchecked, SCP-3673-1 will seek out and purchase seemingly any item for sale, regardless if they were informed of the nature of SCP-3673’s or not.
5. With each purchase made, SCP-3673-1 will become increasingly greedy and seek out more expensive items or services to buy (See Addendum 3673-0). SCP-3673-1 will return to their previous state of financial integrity, and no longer be considered SCP-3673-1, after another person makes a transaction, who therefore becomes SCP-3673-1. It has been shown that those who are freed from the influence of SCP-3673 do remember the purchases they made at the time. However, they are not able to provide justification for why they purchased the items or services they did while under SCP-3673’s influence. If SCP-3673-1 perishes, the name on the card will remain the same as when the subject was alive until a new SCP-3673-1 takes their place.
SCP-3673 was initially located after a report was received from Agent Thomas █████ on July 1, 1990, who was positioned as an informant within the White House under the position of “Economic Advisor” at the time. The report stated that the DOW had dropped by █% in approx. 12 hours. [REDACTED] stated that, ██ Days Prior to the sending of their report, ████ Kilometers of land in the Middle East, Canada, and ██████ was purchased in 3 transactions total amounting to an estimated ██ Trillion Dollars’ worth of land, which raised oil prices by ██% in the US alone as the oil drilling companies who previously operated there no longer had the rights to mine oil in that area.
The transactions could not be traced back to any bank, however, each transaction had the same Card Holder’s name (Alex ██████), Credit Card number and CVC attached to the transactions’ receipts. Using thousands of other purchases (Amounting to nearly ███ Million US Dollars) made from the same Credit Card, a team of Foundation Intelligence Personnel, self-designated “Operative Unit: IRS”, tracked the purchases to a Mansion in ██████, █████, United States. OU-IRS confronted Alex ███████ and begun questioning him at his doorstep. [DATA EXPUNGED] preceded and subject was terminated by a Foundation Specialist after 3 hours of hostage negotiation. The event resulted in 31 Foundation casualties, and 7 civilian casualties. SCP-3673 was recovered from the mansion and handed over to the SCP Foundation after being identified as the card used for the transactions.
The ████ Kilometers of land was returned to the owners, and 72% of the money recovered from them to prevent mass-inflation. A thus-far successful misinformation campaign was created that blames the July, 1990 Iraqi invasion of Kuwait for the rise in oil prices and claims an 18% (Realistically ██%) decrease of the DOW in 3 months.
*Note:* It is unknown whether Alex ███████ created, discovered, or obtained SCP-3673 from another person. In other words, SCP-3673’s origins are entirely unknown, and there are no leads that would warrant further investigation. It is most probable that, due to Alex being terminated before he could be questioned, this information will never be discovered.
Between 4/██/20██ and 5/██/20██, Under the guise of carrying out tests on SCP-3673, [TERMINATED] made several online purchases using SCP-3673 for the benefit of himself and his family. A self-programmed VPN was being used to avoid detection by foundation security. At the time, the memetic effects of SCP-3673 were not known. [TERMINATED] purchased inexpensive items at first and had them sent to his family. After 17 days of "testing", he began purchasing far more expensive items, such as jewelry, electronics and other amenities for his family.
On 5/██/20██, Dr. Zoe ███████ handed in a personal voice log, recorded by [TERMINATED], to security. In the voice log, [TERMINATED] explains how he got through Site internet security and claimed to have found "…many foundation secrets that have been swept under the f█cking rug…". Do to the sensitive information he reveals in the voice log, it will not be available in this document. Dr. Zoe claimed she found the log in the experimentation paperwork file that he submitted for review. [TERMINATED] was arrested by security immediately after reviewing the voice log. He was administered Class-B Amnesiac, memory-planted with a story about being fired from a janitorial position at a research lab and returned to his home. He later self-terminated for unknown reasons. It is assumed that the amnesiac was not completely effective in wiping his memory of the SCP-Foundations existence.
6/07/2002 – Researcher ████ with Senior Researcher Nick ██████ Overseeing
Forward: After 7 months of planning and setup, and the proper approval having been received, this experiment can now take place. The purpose of this test is to discover whether SCP-3673 can spend any amount of money in one or multiple transactions, no matter how large or small the asking price is. The currency will be in US Dollars. The foundation has set up a private savings account for the money to be transferred into if the transaction is accepted. A Deep Web website has also been created for the soul purpose of making these transactions for the sake of simplicity. The website and savings account will irreversibly self-terminate 2 weeks after the initial testing date.
Test #1 - 6/09/2002 – Billing 102000 US Dollars from SCP-3673
Researchers’ Note: Yes, this may seem like an outrageous number, but, considering the results of all of our previous experiments thus far, the current hypothesis is that the transaction will go through. The number really has no importance, except for the fact that it is an unfathomably large number. We can’t charge an infinite amount of money. That is fundamentally impossible.
12:17 PM – Begin Log
12:22 PM – SCP-3673’s Containment Entrance is opened, and the electric cage confirmed inactive.
12:23 PM – S.R. Nick ██████ sets up a small table outside the containment cell and places a laptop on top of it. He enters the cell and unlocks the pad lock, taking it into his possession, and removing it and himself from the room. He re-locates to another area, where he and Researcher ████ watch via CCTV, and communicate with the Armed Guards, in directing D-36821.
12:28 PM – Subject D-36821 is directed to enter the cell, obtain SCP-3673 from the opened lockbox, and proceed to the laptop directly outside the cell. Subject complies.
12:29 PM – Subject is directed to enter the credit card information into the corresponding boxes on the screen in front of him and click the “Buy” button. Subject expresses confusion but complies and initiates the transaction.
12:32 PM – Subject is directed to observe the front of SCP-3673 and report anything unusual about it. Subject reports nothing at first and is told to continue observing it.
12:35 PM – Word is received from the foundation that the set-up account logged a money transfer from an account listed as “[Unknown]”. When asked how much the agent on the other end responded, “…and this may be a bug, but the account is showing a one with a lot of zeros.”. The Agent was asked to put the number into a word processor to find how many zeros it had.
12:37 PM The Agent states, “[The Word Processor] reads the number as being 2001 numbers long.” The test is deemed a success and the D-Class subject was sent out for termination to avoid the unwanted consequences of memetic effects.
End Log
Conclusion: For all-intensive-purposes, this test clearly shows that SCP-3673 does not have a limited amount of money. While it may not be infinite per-say, 102000 is an unfathomably large number. To put that into reference, there are between 1078 to 1082 atoms in the known, observable universe. The Account and website have been closed.
Listed here is a complete list of all Foundation-tested means of destroying, damaging, or otherwise affecting SCP-3673’s physical state, from 1993-Present. All the listed means have been completely unsuccessful at even atomically affecting SCP-3673. (Ranked, lowest to highest, in order of magnitude of damage that would be done to a normal Credit Card)
High Heat, Non-Explosive Methods: Wood/coal/propane/hydrogen-burning fire, steel cutting torch, plasma torch, furnace baked at 728° for 5.2 hours, napalm, ark welder, tesla gate, exposure to high energy [REDACTED] beam for 12.4 seconds. Request for testing with SCP-457 was denied.
Chemical Methods: Model Glue, submerging in all these solutions: Hydrochloric acid, Sulfuric acid, Nitric Acid, Chromic Acid, Acetic acid, Ammonium hydroxide, Potassium hydroxide, and Sodium hydroxide.
Ballistic/High Force Methods: Bending, Cutting, hitting with a baseball bat, Dr. Clef’s dog, 9mm handgun, .45 ACP, 23-ton hydraulic press, ████ PSI 1mm water jet stream, 0.0021% Atmosphere vacuum, .357 Magnum, .44 Magnum, .454 Casull, .500 SMW, 12-gauge shotgun slug, .762 x 39, .338 Lapua, .50 BMG, Field Cannon, GAU-8.
Explosives: Firecracker, 1Lb of C4, 35mm Grenade Launcher, 5Lbs of C4, 25Lbs C4, SMAW Anti-Tank, 460Lbs MOAB, [REDACTED] 20mm Foundation Railgun Round.
Note from Senior Researcher Nick ███████: Since SCP-3673 weighs a mere 5.07 grams, any methods more powerful than the formerly listed here will likely result in SCP-3673 being launched so far away from the testing site that the item will be irretrievable. This has been a huge waste of foundation resources, and I am deeming SCP-3673 as completely invulnerable to man-made means of destruction. As such, testing for this property of SCP-3673 has been closed until further notice.
February 22nd, 2013 - Request for Order-3673 To Be Implemented by the O5 Council. - Senior Researcher Nick ███████
I am formally requesting that Order-3673 be approved as an available Order for the O5 Council at any time if they deem so necessary to activate. Order-3673 is an Order by the O5 Council, activated via a 4/5 vote by the Council, to allow the usage of SCP-3673 to be used to fund the SCP Foundation in times of extreme need for funding, or if a project of dire necessity arises that is not feasible with current foundation funding. Face it, our current finances will not last forever, we need a fallback plan, and this is the perfect item for it.
March 2nd, 2014 – Request for Order-3673 To Be Implemented Under Consideration. – 05-██
Order-3673 is currently being introduced and considered by the O5 Council. If it is deemed necessary to implement as an available method of funding, it will be introduced. If not, then Order-3673 will not be available, and SCP-3673 will not under any circumstances be used for the benefit of the SCP Foundation.
October 17th, 2018 – O5 Order: Ploutos Approved as An Available Method of Emergency Funding for the Foundation – 05-█
Order-3673 has been renamed O5 Order: Ploutos, after the Greek god of wealth, and approved as an order available whenever the foundation is deemed in dire need of funding by at least a ¾ vote from the O5 Council.
