SCP-XXXX in containment

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a stainless steel case of sufficient size. The case is to be kept no less than 30 cm away from any organic material at all times. SCP-XXXX’s case, and the room it is contained in, is to be kept sterile at all times. In case of breach, all contaminated organic material is to be immediately incinerated, unless otherwise specified. Due to the effects of SCP-XXXX, any experiments involving SCP-XXXX are to be performed by sterilized remotely operated robotics. No direct contact with SCP-XXXX is permissible.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a square segment of cotton fabric, approximately 20 cm in in both length and width, and approximately 0.2 mm thick, consisting of an outdated floral pattern. SCP-XXXX was discovered in ██████████ ████████ U.S. Under similar containment procedures by Miss ███████ in the lower levels of her home. When interviewed, Miss ███████ refused to comment on the origin of SCP-XXXX, or when it came into her custody, however, she gladly accepted The Foundations offer to take it off her hands. For more detailed information, see the interview log at the bottom of this page.

Consistent testing showed that any organic matter that came within 30 cm of SCP-XXXX would assume the structure, composition, and pattern of SCP-XXXX within a maximum of 3 hours. Further testing concluded the transformation of a contaminated specimen accelerated the closer the specimen was to SCP-XXXX during the transformation process. No other specimens of SCP-XXXX exist at this time in Foundation custody or knowledge. All specimens created as a result of experimentation with SCP-XXXX have since been incinerated.

SCP-XXXX LOG-1

Foundation Scientist : “So, what’s in that room?”
Miss ███████ : “Oh, just a piece of fabric.”
Foundation Scientist : “Anything special about it?”
Miss ███████ : “Only that it turns you into fabric too.”
Foundation Scientist : “You mean, it turns any human person into fabric”
Miss ███████ : “well, it’s not really that simple. It spreads across just about anything living; even the things we can’t see. Things that were once alive as well.”
Foundation Scientist : “You mean, anything it touches?”
Miss ██████ : “Oh no sir, I only wish it were that simple. Anything that goes near it. If you so much as go in that room, even though it is on the other end of it, you’ll slowly turn into fabric.”
Foundation Scientist : “So, when did you first receive this… fabric… Do you know where it came from?
Miss ██████ : No.
Foundation Scientist : “What do you mean by… no?”
Miss ██████ : “I mean, no.”
Foundation Scientist : “Ok. We have the technology to move it, without anything alive involved. We can take it off your hands if you like.”
Miss ██████ : “I would very much like that, but are you sure you can handle it?”
Foundation Scientist : “We deal with stuff like this every day. Believe me, we can handle it.”
Miss ██████ : “You seem confident. Very well, you may take it. But if anything happens, you are to blame.”
Foundation Scientist : “Understood.”
