SCP-4394 (place holder number)

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: The entity is to be kept within a plain twice-locked container, one key lock and the other a combination, no smaller than 1m x 0.5m X 0.5m. The container itself should be kept in site 19. This item should never be handled by D-class personnel.

Description: This entity's appearance (referred to as 'texture') has a loose connection to the items that make up it's physical manifestation (referred to as 'hit box'). When moved by any method, the texture often 'lags' behind the hit box though it is not a hard and fast rule. If moved within a vehicle, it is advised to attach an item to this SCP to prevent losing the entity while it is invisible.

SCP-4394's texture has similar aesthetics to a low polygon rendition of a two-handed medieval warhammer. The surface of this object bears a flat, ornate celtic patterns on its handle that cannot be removed through any method. While attempts have been made to discern the material this item has been made from, no additional information has been gained. When pressure is applied to the edges or corners, sometimes the tool used will breach the item, leaving the surface undamaged and no further resistance is found once inside nor when attempting to remove it. When this is done with a micro camera, the item appear to be transparent from the inside. It fails to cast a shadow.

When struck with this item, the subject looses the abilty to communicate. They suffer temporary minor strokes and lose control of their hands and face when attempting to write, draw, type, speak or communicate with facial expressions or gestures. Depending on the strength of the hit, they may also become blind, deaf and lose the sense of touch, sometimes appearing dead, regardless of where they are hit. This effect has not been seen when the hammer is dropped onto someone, meaning a deliberate strike must make contact for anything to occur. Once the effects have worn off, each subsequent strike exponentially increases the length of its effects1, though if struck while still effected it seems to undo the stupor. The first time the subject is hit averages around a 24 hour period. It seems to have no real effect on the user, however.
