Class: Safe

Containment Method: SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-1 are to be contained in a standard containment cell at [REDACTED]. Access is limited to researchers and attendants. No SCP-XXXX-2s may be created except for tests related to SCP-XXXX, and then they must be shredded and burned promptly afterwards.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a typewriter made from embossed manzanita wood and a blue-black metal of unknown composition or origin. SCP-XXXX resembles a typical mid-1900s typewriter in shape, with the exception of a locked compartment on the bottom. The mechanisms for connecting SCP-XXXX’s keys to corresponding letters are missing. SCP-XXXX has the name “Karol Davidson” carved on the back, and “Salton Sea, California” carved on the bottom. SCP-XXXX is flame-retardant, non-corrosive, and water-resistant. All attempts to break, shatter, clog, or otherwise damage SCP-XXXX have been entirely unsuccessful.
SCP-XXXX-1 is a small lead key entirely plain in design with the words “Custom-Made” chiseled on the tip of the key. SCP-XXXX-1 is used to open SCP-XXXX’s bottom compartment, which cannot be opened by any other means. SCP-XXXX-1 is impossible to damage, similarly to SCP-XXXX.
Typing using SCP-3061 does not produce any text. Instead, the writer must rest their fingers on the keys and mentally formulate words with the specific desire to type them out, still not moving their fingers. The keys will move and type out the thoughts at the speed that they are formulated. Once a paper is filled to the point the writer wishes, the machine spits it out through a slot in the back, and if there is any paper in the bottom compartment, then it fills the position of the expelled paper. The effect is not fulfilled using a mechanism, and thus its
The papers spat out of the back are referred to as SPC-XXXX-2s. SPC-XXXX-2s are nearly identical to paper with ink written on it. Some differences are: they cannot be burned, torn, soaked, or changed by ink, graphite, paint, or any staining liquid. The most notable difference is that when a sentient being capable of reading and understanding the language on the SCP-XXXX-2 (with the exception of its writer) reads a stated fact that isn’t clearly intended to be opinion, they instantly believe it. Similar effects are observed when an SCP-XXXX-2 is read aloud, photocopied, printed in a newspaper, or summarized.
SCP-XXXX’s history is unimportant. Previous researcher was affected by an SCP-XXXX-2. SCP-XXXX seems to originate in the late 18th century, before the invention of the typewriter, according to analysis. Earliest known use of SCP-XXXX was in 1898 by [NAME CLASSIFIED] to write on the sinking of the U.S.S Maine. SCP-XXXX was use many other times before being left to [EXPUNGED] News in the will of the owner, and was given in the year 1965. It was used by the main reporter there until the Foundation learned of its existence in 2018.

Retrieval: SCP-XXXX was retrieved from the [EXPUNGED] News Headquarters in 2019, where it was being used by [NAME CLASSIFIED] to write articles. The owner tried multiple times to use SCP-XXXX-2s to dissuade the Foundation staff from seizing it. Eye blinds were utilized by Foundation personnel. Amnesia was deployed on [CLASSIFIED] News’ whole staff.

Addendum: This is a list of tests done by Researcher[NAME CLASSIFIED] on D-319752 using a SCP-XXXX-2 with a false fact on it, called SCP-XXXX-2-A. D-319752 had not known whether the statement was true or false. SCP-XXXX-2-A was written by Researcher[NAME CLASSIFIED].

Test # Nature of Test Result
1 Direct reading of SCP-XXXX-2-A by D-319752 Amnestic technique and forceful brainwashing techniques required to convince D-319752 of SCP-XXXX-2-A’s falsehood
2 SCP-XXXX-2-A dictated to D-319752 by Researcher. Change to alpha brain state required to convince D-319752 of SCP-XXXX-2-A’s falsehood
3 Direct reading of photocopy of SCP-XXXX-2-A by D-319752 Repeated speaking of statement contrary to SCP-XXXX-2-A over course of 24 hours without interruption required to convince D-319752 of SCP-XXXX-2-A’s falsehood
46 lines expunged
50 Summary of SCP-XXXX-2-A read aloud to D-319752 Comprehensive proof from trusted authority figure required to convince D-319752 of SCP-XXXX-2-A’s falsehood

Test was ended due to concerns about D-319752’s degenerating mental stability and the effects it had on the results.
