Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained within a locked lead-lined container at all times unless a situation necessitating the use of SCP-XXXX arises. The opening of SCP-XXXX's container can only be authorized by a staff member with Level 3 clearance or higher. Its subsequent exposure and administration (creating an instance of SCP-XXXX-1) should be monitored closely, after which SCP-XXXX-1 is not to be threatened, taunted, or intimidated. SCP-XXXX-1 should be spoken to only in calm and soothing tones and should be guided by unarmed guards to the location of the situation necessitating its use.

Once SCP-XXXX-1 has died, SCP-XXXX is to be placed back within its container as soon as possible by personnel vetted and trained for the handling of SCP-XXXX and kept contained until its use is required once more.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a sentient revolver with telepathic and clairvoyant properties. Judging by an examination of its cylinder, it is capable of holding seven 9mm cartridges. The cylinder of SCP-XXXX cannot be moved, making it impossible to load or unload its cartridges, but SCP-XXXX has apparently infinite ammunition, eliminating the need to do so.

Those in the immediate presence of SCP-XXXX will be urged via psychic suggestion by SCP-XXXX to pick it up. Reported phenomena range from a vague and sudden desire to pick up the revolver to auditory and even visual hallucinations. SCP-XXXX takes advantage of an individual's ambitions and desires, promising or otherwise convincing them that they can be achieved through the use of SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX's suggestion is unique to the individual experiencing it, and SCP-XXXX modifies its methods and promises depending on the person it is communicating with. Once SCP-XXXX has been picked up by an individual, the psychic suggestion ceases for those in the immediate vicinity. Individuals with little or no ambition are resistant or immune to SCP-XXXX's suggestion and thus make ideal handlers.

SCP-XXXX-1 is bound to SCP-XXXX until death, and any attempts to separate the two will prove disastrous. SCP-XXXX-1 will not willingly relinquish SCP-XXXX, and any attempt to withdraw SCP-XXXX through clandestine methods will backfire, often resulting in the death of the individual who attempted it. SCP-XXXX-1 also displays significant increases in confidence and aggression as compared to the individual before acquiring SCP-XXXX.

As stated earlier, SCP-XXXX holds seven cartridges of 9mm ammunition. When fired, the first six of these rounds will hit their target with perfect accuracy. Although anomalously accurate, the bullets are affected by the normal laws of physics. The lethal range of SCP-XXXX is only limited by the line of sight of SCP-XXXX-1, and experiments have shown its accuracy on targets outside of SCP-XXXX-1's line of sight to be no better than that of an average revolver. When a transparent medium unable to be penetrated by SCP-XXXX's bullets (such as bulletproof glass) is placed between SCP-XXXX-1 and its target, SCP-XXXX will jam and fail to fire. SCP-XXXX also seems to grant SCP-XXXX-1 clairvoyance regarding the trajectory of SCP-XXXX's bullets and objects struck by them, allowing SCP-XXXX-1 to hit targets from unpredictable angles, or that it would not otherwise be able to hit. SCP-XXXX also grants SCP-XXXX-1 clairvoyance regarding the lethality or effect of a given shot, allowing SCP-XXXX-1 to anticipate future events and plan accordingly.

These properties make SCP-XXXX and by extension SCP-XXXX-1 ideal for a variety of assignments provided the assignment requires the firing of no more than six bullets (or however many bullets happen to be in SCP-XXXX's cylinder at the given time).

SCP-XXXX acts wholly on the will of SCP-XXXX-1, but it does continue to psychically communicate with SCP-XXXX-1, encouraging SCP-XXXX-1 to fire it, as confirmed by interviews with multiple instances of SCP-XXXX. These interviews also revealed that SCP-XXXX-1 can accurately remember the number of times they have fired SCP-XXXX, but even with this knowledge and knowledge of the consequences of firing SCP-XXXX a seventh time, they nonetheless seem certain (most likely due to the direct and/or indirect psychic influences of SCP-XXXX) that these consequences will not occur for them.

When SCP-XXXX is fired for the seventh time by SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX acts on its own will rather than that of SCP-XXXX-1. This always results in the death of SCP-XXXX-1 and frequently causes additional destruction as well. SCP-XXXX seems to choose the path for its bullet that will result in the maximum
possible amount of chaos in the area, with no regard for allegiance or discrimination between targets. Risk can be minimized, however, by monitoring how many rounds are fired from SCP-XXXX and escorting SCP-XXXX-1 to a remote or secure location before the seventh round is fired, resulting in minimal casualties.

Since SCP-XXXX does not communicate with individuals outside of encouraging them to pick it up, and its communication with instances of SCP-XXXX-1 is not to be trusted for self-evident reasons, no motive for its actions can be determined at this time.
