Special Containment Procedures: Maple Hills Apartment Complex has been evacuated and obtained by a Foundation front company. All municipal pipes connecting to the complex have been severed and re-routed. The complex has been sealed to prevent civilian contact. Attempts to further isolate SCP-XXXX may not involve liquids.

Class-B amnestics have been administered to the residents of Maple Hills Apartments directly affected by SCP-XXXX. Witness accounts have been suppressed and 'caustic water' has been officially documented as the source of injuries. Foundation personnel are to continue monitoring survivors for instances of self-mutilation.

Description: SCP-XXXX is currently confined to 27 meters of copper piping between the 3rd and 4th floors of Maple Hills Apartment Complex in █████, ██. Subject has no observable form while in its inactive state. While active, SCP-XXXX manifests as 3 to 4 black, finger-like appendages, ranging from 9 cm to 15 cm in length. Sections of pipe which previously housed SCP-XXXX show no signs of that occupation other than minor corrosion.¹

Incidents attributed to SCP-XXXX occurred at Maple Hills Apartments Complex between 2005 and 2009. Investigation indicates that two civilians died and multiple had limbs amputated due to contact with SCP-XXXX. All incidents of contact resulted in similar injuries and occurred while the individual was in the shower. See Addendum XXXX.01.

Bodies of the deceased were discovered after shower drains became clogged on the 2nd floor of the apartment complex. Plumbers indicated to staff that they found large quantities of organic matter in the pipes. Foundation personnel intervened and removed two bodies. Recovered skeletons are subject to continued study due to the unique length and curve of the bones.

Addendum XXXX.01: Amputations and Injuries

The following are known injuries caused by SCP-XXXX. All elongated limbs were amputated, and the affected individuals received treatment from the Foundation. The circumstances of the injuries were recorded where available.

V14: Subject V14 was taken by ambulance to emergency room after neighbors reported screaming from his apartment. V14 had no obvious injuries except for a significantly elongated leg. Medical records and physician statements obtained indicate that V14’s right leg was approximately 1 meter longer than his left leg. Bones and skin were otherwise completely intact, and X-rays showed no identifiable damage. The leg was amputated above the point of elongation. It is unclear how this procedure was authorized or whether V14 requested it. Police reports recovered by intervening personnel contain V14’s testimony that something attempted to pull him down the shower drain.

V21: Subject V21 was injured while attempting to unclog a shower drain. Records indicate that the fingers on V21’s hand extended approximately .5 meters past the first knuckle. Additionally, V21’s fingers, including her bones, were curved at a 90° angle. Subject V21 reported that her shower had backed up while she was using it and that she had seen what appeared to be a clump of black hair in the drain.

V65: Subject V65 was involuntarily hospitalized after severe self-mutilation. V65 testified that during the process of pulling, he was able to brace himself on the shower floor while his arm was entirely down the drain. V65 removed his own arm with a razor. Medical staff testified that they believed his claims about a man in the drain and subsequent self-mutilation were the result of early-onset schizophrenia.

Notes: Field Team RO-07 planned to extract and contain SCP-XXXX by flushing pressurized saline solution through the apartment complex pipes. Agents Mathews, Paulson, and Adams were positioned to sever SCP-XXXX from the main system at the 3rd floor. After Agents Green and Rathe began pumping saline solution from the 4th floor, Agents removed a 2-meter length of pipe to isolate SCP-XXXX.

Paulson: That’s out. What now?

Adams: Wait for water and ready positions. Double check those belts, boys.

Mathews: Line’s good. Ready with pipe cutter.

[Water can be heard dripping, then spraying.]

Adams: Look for anything in the water. It’ll be down soon.

[Water spraying.]

Paulson: God, that—that stinks like shit. What the fuck? I thought this came from a shower.

Mathews: It’s still a drain, what did you—no, wait, look at that.

Paulson: It’s…[indistinct]…is it backed up? Let me look—

Adams: No—Jared—shit! Grab his line!

[Clattering and running.]

Adams: Pull!

[Suction. Heavy thump.]

Mathews: Oh, no. Oh my god.

[Silence. High pitched whimpering can be heard.]

Adams: Come on. We’ve got to take care of him. Tell Beta Command.

Additional Notes: Agent Paulson was received by Site-81 medical personnel. His body was approximately 11 cm across and 6 m in length. Following analysis, Agent Paulson was humanely euthanized. Further attempts at extracting SCP-XXXX are not planned.

Footnotes

1. Corrosion appears as etching on the interior of the pipe. This etching is present only in pipes where death by pulling has occurred. Agent Bradley suggested that the corrosion is due to the scratching of individuals who died in an attempt to escape from the pipe. Investigations are ongoing.
