Description: SCP-XXXX is an ornate pull-chain lamp, small bedside table, and rug. All parts of SCP-XXXX are completely inseparable and indestructible. Upon pulling the chain of the lamp into the "off" position, the entity who pulled the chain will be transported into an area of complete darkness. All forms of light shone while inside this are unable to work, although the effect only lasts until the void is exited. After pulling the chain once again into the "on" position, SCP-XXXX will teleport to a semi-random location as long as it is unoccupied by solid matter. This transportation effect appears to have no limits, extending out into dimensions beyond our own. After an unpredictable number of teleports, SCP-XXXX will rematerialize to an area within 7 light minutes a previous location.

"lake norman" is a misty lake in a small new england town
the lake emits a strange fog, too much for a lake of its size and temperature.
creatures/objects that should not be in the lake of that size wash up on the shores frequently. this includes whales, civil war era boats, giant squids, saltwater seaweed, etc.
all navigational devices appear to malfunction while inside the fog the lake emits.
in the middle of the lake is a small island. on the island is a civil war era bunker.
the bunker was a fort for the confederacy.
after a raid by the union, a central shaft was blown up, revealing an underground cavity. this cavity is what emits the fog.
inside the cavity is a massive cave, several times the size of the lake. the outer walls of the cave cannot be seen.
there is a sea at the bottom of the cave. the sea is pitch black. sometimes, little flashes/fins can be seen swimming in it.
this sea is the real cause of the fog. all navigation devices simply do not work while inside the cave.
the foundation devise a plan. boat1 will head to the outer wall of the cave, estimated to at least be 3 kilometers away.
boat2 is going to go after the boat1 to meet halfway while boat1 is returning. boat2 will relay information from boat1 to the foundation, or rescue/search for the crew of boat1 if need be.
this system is set up. boat1 goes into the cavern, boat2 coming shortly after. the first run is successful. boat1 relays info to boat 2 - there are tunnels too small for the boat to fit into leading away from the cavern. unnatural heaps of rocks in a roughly pyramid shape are also present around the edge of the cavern.
boat2 sends boat1 to go back and see if they can go a little further. while doing this, boat2 relays boat1's info back to the foundation, then returns to their duty.
boat1 should be here by the time they arrive back to the halfway point, but they aren't. boat2 decides to wait a little longer.
nothing happens.
boat2 relays this info back to the foundation, and so they're instructed to go along the path boat1 is assumed to have taken, and see if they can find anything.
while doing this, boat2 hits a "rock" in the water.
they inspect for damages. it was no rock. it was boat1.
boat1 is completely empty, with no lights on.
boat2 attaches a tow to boat1, and drives to the main foundation boat.

boat2 and boat1 crash into the main foundation boat. both boats are completely empty, with no lights on.

the foundation leaves, sealing the cavity with concrete, never to return. one month after the incident, 21 out of the 26 crew members of the foundation main ship were missing or dead.
