SCP-xxxx
Amazonian Nest Mother
Class: Keter
Subclass: Beta

One huge nest (the only one of its kind) is found near a small village of indigenous Amazonian people after the people are discovered by Brazilians. They discover the tribe has been harrassed for generations by deep black/purple beetles which sneak into the human body during sleep through any orifice (particularly in the face) and one of the Brazilians themselves became a victim and dies (though his body is secured). The beetles cause nerves to snap (causing a burning pain across the body) and brain function to decrease and eventually cease due to the beetles being literally inside the brain leading to paralysis eventually. The most dramatic change is the complete collapse of the Central Nervous System and the movement of the spine outward (in some cases the bone juts out of the skin). The subject is then compelled to walk into the giant nest and is then totally engulfed by the Nest. The Nest is an entity and mother to its beetles itself and is conscious. The Nest/Mother can also act on its own and lure in entities if they approach too closely. Interview conducted with the members of the tribe revealed symptoms mentioned above and dissection of the victim’s body revealed severe nerve destruction, brain rotting/damage and much of the spine material had been replaced by a blackish material resembling the beetle shells. Upon the finding and removal of the nest, several searches have been performed on the immediate area and (as time passes) further out however no other nests have been found. All attempts to communicate with the Nest have been unsuccessful (any further attempts need authorisation from Overseer). Nest is 2m in length, 2.4m in height and 1.2m width at its opening (all this excluding the tendrils at its mouth and lining the walls of the nest inside which can be several metres in length, its longest at its opening measuring 3.5m). It requires 5 rats (of average size) a day to maintain a stable population of beetles and body size of the subject (feeding it more would result in an unstable population and enlarged subject so be mindful to not do so). Must be kept far from other SCP-specimens to avoid telepathic irritation. Room is to be protected by 4 guards at all times (2 placed at the entrance, 2 further away) and personnel (including guards and analysts) should not be allowed within the vicinity with SCP-xxxx for over 3 hours. There will be a window as sight has no effect on its ability to lure in personnel telepathically. A CCTV camera will be placed outside the door and in the event personnel attempt to open the door when under psychological effects, the person watching will be able to shut the door mechanism down. Deceased beetles don’t need to be removed as they are carried back into the nest and are assimilated into the subject. 2 incidents have occured - an analyst succumbed to effects and entered the room, opening both the first door then the 2nd (the actual entrance to the room the 1st is a failsafe) and was set upon by the beetles and tendrils and was pulled into SCP-xxxx. The beetles released were contained by a locking of the doors of the entire section (although no other SCPs are kept in said section) and it took weeks to secure it once again. The 2nd incident occurred when a malfunction occurred in the sedation of the tendrils and beetles back inside SCP-xxxx during cleaning (no one enters the room but instead liquids are automatically poured into the room and manual tools are used with gloves built into the sides of the walls to eliminate physical contact with the beetles or SCP-xxxx. This time the beetles and tendrils were unsuccessfully sedated and a tendril tore a hole in a glove causing many beetles to escape into the small room with 3 Class-D personnel inside - in fear of contaminating the rest of the section again, the room was incinerated and the beetles and tendrils were sedated successfully in order to repair the in-built glove.
