SCP – XXXX: The Gene Editor
Object class: Thaumiel
Special Containment Procedures: Subject is to be held within a large metal holding cell within Bio-Research Area-██. The chamber is furnished with a bed, a nightstand, and a table with two chairs, all constructed of inorganic material. A site clearance level of 3 is necessary to supervise the introduction of new species to SCP-XXXX's chamber, as well as interviews and other experimentation. All personnel entering SCP-XXXX's chamber are to have up to date DNA records, and any personnel leaving its chambers must have their DNA tested, to ensure that {DATA EXPUNGED}.
Notes: What SCP's anomalous behaviour can be neutralized using genetic rewriting? There must be SOMEthing…
Description: SCP – XXXX is an mass of living cells that is able to change its form to resemble any species, or any combination of species, that it has come into contact with or has previously observed. The full list of species it can replicate is extensive and comes from many areas of the world. However, all microbial species it can replicate can be found within a 100km radius of █████████-█████nal park, Canada. Its preferred form is of a Caucasian human male weighing 84.82kg, appearing approximately 18-25 years of age. It can understand English in any form, however it can only speak when it changes its form to possess the necessary human organs to facilitate normal speech.
SCP-XXXX has also displayed the ability to alter another beings genetic material to a large degree. However, SCP-XXXX has expressed that this is much more difficult for it to achieve than manipulating its own DNA. It has also shown capability of assimilating other cells into its body, granting the new cells the same anomalous effect. However, it has been proven to be unable to create a separate being capable of replicating its anomalous effect. Interacting with SCP-XXXX is fairly well received, and it has cooperated with many tests and interviews. It has even shown interest in "fixing" genetic ailments that have befallen D-class and research personnel.
Interviewed: SCP-XXXX
Interviewer: DR. M███████
Foreword: SCP-XXXX is asked to use given information to replicate the genetic structure of species it has not encountered.

DR. M███████: So, SCP-XXXX, we're going to show you some new animals, and we're going to ask if you could recreate them, if possible.
SCP-XXXX: Oh wonderful! I'd love to see what you have for me now.
DR. M███████: <Holds up a photograph of a giraffe> This animal is called a giraffe. Could you transform into it for us please?
SCP-XXXX: <Stares carefully at the photograph> I'm sorry Doctor, The picture is too blurry.
DR. M███████: How so? The picture is in full focus.SCP-XXXX: I can't see what the animal is supposed to be.
SCP-XXXX: <Stares thoughtfully at the container> I could, but I might get things a bit mixed up.
**<SCP-XXXX proceeds to warp its physical form to resemble a male, deerlike entity with large brown, polygonal spots, approximately 2 meters in height. It is stocky in appearance, but otherwise has the characteristics of a Giraffe.>
<SCP-XXXX proceeds to elongate its frame to better resemble the previous photograph. SCP-XXXX now closely resembles a Giraffe, but closer inspection shows small key features not present>
