Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is an area of uncharted forest located in ████, Newfoundland that is bordered roughly all sides with a 15-foot tall electrical fence that stretches the entirety of it's 500 acre perimeter. The fencing acts as a buffer to contain all instances of SCP-XXXX-A, as well as acting as security to limit access to authorized personnel only.
The electrical fences are to be powered by solar-self charging batteries and are to remain on during all times. Back up batteries must be replaced regularly to maintain a constant charge around the designated area. Should any of the equipment fail, a containment breech will be issued to the location and all available resources should be devoted to getting the fences back online.
An approval level of 3 or higher is required to gain access into the area outside of designated D-Class testing and previously approved experiments. All facility staff and personnel are to remain in groups consisting of no less than 2 parties at all given times when exploring SCP-XXXX. This precaution is to prevent unexpected encounters regarding SCP-XXXX-A.
It is preferred that personnel assigned to SCP-XXXX are deaf, as it aids with productivity and focus when residing within the forest. (See Addendum 1.2) Collection of SCP-XXXX-B is only permitted between the hours of 01:00 and 03:00 and appropriate facility provided equipment must be worn during harvest to avoid potential undesirable effects.
Description: While SCP-XXXX has been identified as a normal forest with no distinct abnormal features to be observed, the facility's main focus and containment falls on the collective of creatures that dwell within the 500 acre perimeter, known as SCP-XXXX-A.
Though appearances can vary, instances of SCP-XXXX-A have been described by witnesses as generally being humanoid in appearance. They are reportedly slightly distorted, with limbs elongated and stretching far beyond that of normal human capabilities. They consist of a semi-translucent texture that resembles that of shadows, allowing them to blend in easily with the surrounding foliage. This method of camouflage is only strengthened at night, making the instances of SCP-XXXX-A almost impossible to trace in the dark.
While they are hard to spot physically, use of thermal technology can be easily used to track and locate the anomalies, and also lends validation to the eye-witness claims of their overall humanoid appearance. The SCP-XXXX-A tend to have a lower body temperature than the average human, that constitutes levels that would otherwise be considered lethal, causing them to stand out when searching with the aforementioned equipment. Due to the evasiveness of SCP-XXXX-A a biopsy report has been impossible to collect at this time with the given technology. The only known physical properties of the anomalies indicate that they have a weakness to electricity and small currents caused by technology of the modern age. SCP-XXXX-A has yet to attempt breaching containment since the installation of the electrical fences.
SCP-XXXX-A hunts by moving in small packs, luring prey to them. It is unknown which substance is preferred but they have been reported attacking any organic-based organism, including humans. (See Addendum 1.1) Any organism that wanders into the forest appears to be instantly alerted to the members of the pack, and they spread out relentlessly hunting for the trespasser until they either escape, or are terminated. While actively hunting, instances of SCP-XXXX-A emit a sound that has been reported similar to that of a human whistling in the distance. While reason unknown their whispering has a tenancy to lure potential targets away into the woods. The effect seems to be stronger on subjects who are left alone, verses those who travel in groups of 2 or more. It is unknown what happens to subjects who come into direct contact with an instance of SCP-XXXX-A, aside from the confirmation of them disappearing without any known traces left behind, aside from the appearance of SCP-XXXX-B.
SCP-XXXX-B is an odd, ring of luminescent blue coloured mushrooms that only seem to appear at the last known location of a missing subject that has been abducted by an instance of SCP-XXXX-A. The rings bare resemblance to old folk-lore tales regarding information on 'fairy rings', which match the description of SCP-XXXX-B. Collection of SCP-XXXX-B when encountered is required for study, and must be collected with the provided facility equipment. (See Addendum 2.1)
Issued cases of consumption of SCP-XXXX-B seems to lead to an undetermined amount of results, ranging from sickness, to ████. It is generally advised not to touch instances of SCP-XXXX-B without equipment, and under no circumstances is it recommended to consume without immediate observation.
Discovery: SCP-XXXX was brought to the attention of the facility in 19██/████/11 following up on mysterious reports of multiple missing persons cases occurring from the nearby town of ████. Allegedly children would wander into the woods to play games, and be lured away by mysterious sounds, and were never seen again. Adults who have gone searching for the missing children have also been reported missing, and in one case a body was found with ████████████.
The foundation moved in shortly after this discovery and started setting up an-off site containment due to the nature of SCP-XXXX being an entire forest. After some study and a few causalities (See Addendum 3.1) it was discovered the instances of SCP-XXXX-A were susceptible to electrical current and the construction of the Electrical Fencing and installation of observation equipment quickly followed soon after.
