Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: All instances of SCP-XXXX are to be contained on a D-Class host, who is to be kept within a standard humanoid containment chamber and informed of the nature of SCP-XXXX through Orientation Video Alpha-XXXX (See Addendum XXXX.1) In addition to the basic provisions for D-Class personnel, the D-Class host is to be provided with a custom made silk jumpsuit, limited control of their containment chamber's thermostat, a couch and chair with sufficient aeration and ergonomics to prevent sweating or bedsores when used extensively, and access to to unlimited passive media including books, television and movies. No sharp edges or rough surfaces are to be allowed in the containment chamber. The D-Class host is to be monitored 24/7 by foundation personnel or computer learning algorithm with the ability to detect itching, and reminded by a prerecorded message not to itch if the host attempts to scratch themselves in any way.

Transfer Procedure Omega-XXXX (See Addendum XXXX.2) is to be carried out after 6 months or if the host reports over 50 instances of SCP-XXXX. The D-Class host is not to be informed of Transfer Procedure Omega-XXXX outside of the details mentioned in Orientation Video Alpha-XXXX.

Description: Instances of SCP-XXXX manifests as traveling itching sensations on a host human's skin. SCP-XXXX typically move between 2-6 centimeters per second and are capable of transferring from one host to another by physical contact of the skin to the location of a SCP-XXXX instance.

No instances of SCP-XXXX have displayed any signs of sentience, moving in seemingly random paths. The only known method of neutralizing an instance of SCP-XXXX is to kill the flesh it occupies, either by amputating a limb or terminating the host.

SCP-XXXX absorb energy from attempts to scratch them, including the usual method of scrapping using fingernails but also including rubbing or pinching against hard surfaces, such as handcuffs and other restraints. As instances of SCP-XXXX absorb energy they increase in "itchiness". Like a regular itch, diverting focus from SCP-XXXX can reduce intensity. Although SCP-XXXX can't be neutralized or "starved" in this manner, doing so can significantly delay the propagation cycle of SCP-XXXX.

After around 20 seconds of cumulative itching, SCP-XXXX self replicate. The instance of SCP-XXXX splits in two. If two or more instances of SCP-XXXX on the same host are on the same portion of skin, hosts describe their irritation stacking additively. In addition to replication in the aforementioned manner, any naturally occurring itches formed by a SCP-XXXX host become instances of SCP-XXXX

The average life expectancy of a host exposed to a single instance of SCP-XXXX and uninformed of it's anomalous properties is between 4-7 days, with the typical cause of death being blood loss due to self inflicted lacerations.
